[Q] HTC Dev. Purchasing Concerns - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Currently, I own ONE X which I keeps playing and changing ROM's quite often. I am about to purchase the dev. edition for the sake of the 64GB. I am some questions which I hope you can assist me getting a solid answers for them. I have searched the forum and read through the pages where I got lots of information except for the following:
1. As I understand, the device will be US version, which I will be using in the Middle East. The GSM and 3G frequencies are the same like in ME while LTE is not. will there be any issues to be only using GSM and 3G?
2. Will it be possible to flash custom ROM's for the international version which is only 32GB. If possible, will it still report and utilize the 64GB or only 32GB will be available.
3. If I wanted to changed to stock ROM for the international version, can I do this.
thank you for your help.

[Q] Differences in models for development pourposes

So since this device is coming out on three (US) networks as well as the developer edition. Let's say someone makes a ROM for the Developer edition of the phone, is it expected to be able to work on the At&t version (obviously after we can unlock the boot-loader)?
Or for example if someone makes a ROM for the T-mobile version, is it expected to be able to work on the Sprint version?
I'm just curious because if this is not the case, then i need to make sure i get the developer edition (I'm trying to avoid shelling out that much cash up front).
The variants
U-3g only gsm
Ul-4g lte gsm
Wl-4g late cdma
U and Ul variants can share ROMs
WL can't

[Q] let me get this straight

as of now the only difference between dev edition and regular edition is the 64 gb? (assuming i unlock the bootloader myself)
also can anyone confirm if the differences between US/EU/ASIA models in the radio bands is due to different hardware or to software limitations?
more to the point, if i buy the europeane model, could i be able to flash the asian radio to get the 850 mhz 3g band?
pls can anyone answer :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed: especially the second Q.
i searched the forums but havn't found an answer
There's no way to do that so far...

don't think so but it is very easy, you only need to flash the proper radio.zip into recovery and you're done..

It won't work. Check the international forum of HTC One here at xda. There are already countless people flashing a EU variant radio on their AT&T, T-Mobile & Asian variants HTC One yet the frequencies still remain the same.
thanks.
I really wish that htc had made it easier to get a hold of this device. most people can't get the 64gb developer's as it's obtainable only in the u.s.
and all the other editions are currently very scarce, and hard to find. and even if you find one, it may not work proparly with your carrier. not to mention that if you travel alot this device won't do because of the different bands in each country.
i appolagize for the rant, but it's really frustuating, i really wanted to buy the htc one.

The Dev edition is only needed in the US.
Which phones support more frequency bands than the One?

[Q]Which is the right HTC One variant if I need AWS for LTE?

Guys,
I´m going to buy an HTC One and I need it to support AWS LTE.
Problem is, I don´t know a surefire method to choose the right one just by looking at the box or the phone (turned off).
Since I´m based in Uruguay, I can´t buy one from the HTC Store. I have been offered here a couple of Ones but I can only look at the box.
I have read mike1986 thread about the One´s variants. Didn´t knew that there was a GSM only version (since the HTC online Store won´t sell it).
So....
Is there any way to determine if the phone is AWS LTE capable just by looking at the box or the phone turned off?
Another noob question associated, I know the 64gb developer edition is AWS LTE capable. That edition is the only 64gb version of the HTC One or do other 64gb versions exists?

[Q] Motorola Moto X in UK & Flashing basebands

Good day all,
I'm considering importing a Motorola Moto X to the UK and was wondering if anyone could help answer some questions so that I may pick the right model. I haven't been able to find my answers specifically in other posts.
As I understand it, only the Rogers model has the 2600Mhz band (band 7) which will allow the phone to use 4G in the UK.
Unfortunately only the 16Gb model is available which isn't much good to me.
I see however that the 4.4 leak on AT&T Moto X unlocks this band 7, however the recommendations are not to buy an AT&T model.
Is this because the AT&T model is not sim unlockable? Or can i not flash stock google to the AT & T phone?
If this is not the case is it possible to flash the rodgers radio say, to a developer edition 32Gb phone?
In short, is there a way to flash different basebands across the Moto X?
Cheers,
Gordon
If you want band 7 LTE and 32gb I think the only possible option that exists right now is the AT&T model. They are simlocked from factory and will require an unlock code. Most of the time they can be unlocked but there are a few cases where no unlock code seemed to work. They cannot be bootloader unlocked which means you can only run AT&T firmware.
They also don't officially support band 7 LTE, but at this time it does appear to be enabled.
The modem files/baseband files can be flashed between the different models however that does not change the basic band support built into the phone. The only model made with band 7 LTE hardware support is the XT-1058.
The Rogers version can be flashed with the retail/dev edition firmware(after the bootloader is unlocked) but it will always only have 16gb of storage, they don't offer a 32gb version(silly Rogers). The Rogers version is also simlocked from factory but unlock codes are 8 dollars or less and are easy to get.
Overall the AT&T firmware isn't that bad, most of the bloat can easily be disabled, as long as they don't remove band 7 support and it is simunlocked you'll be fine, and you can have your 32gb. (and you get a bonus AT&T logo on the back of the phone)
Thanks for your quick response Steve-x.
I see now that the Band 7 radio is a hardware rather than a software feature and that it's specifically an XT1058 I'm after.
I have just one more question in that case and I guess it's aimed at those with knowledge or experience of AT&T...
If I were to get an AT&T phone on leak 4.4 and AT&T were later to release the official 4.4 which blocked band 7 (or even a patch which blocked band 7) would this be pushed to my phone? Or is it the case i can stick to the leaked 4.4 without ever upgrading?
Cheers,
Gordon

[Q] Model variants and roms, is there any difference?

Hello people.
I have a little and simple question.
As all of you know, there are 4 variants of model of this phone.
Version Description Alternate designations
XT1063 Global GSM Single SIM
XT1064 US/Canada GSM Single SIM
XT1068 Global GSM Dual-SIM
XT1069 GSM+GSM+DTV Dual-SIM, Brazil model supporting DTV
My question is, will it be different roms for every model? or any rom can be used no matter what version of the phone be?
Sorry for my english. Hope you could understand what i mean.
Thanks!
No one?
I think you'll need a different ROM for each phone, unless a dev steps up and develops a unified ROM for all of them.
Seeing as no one actually stepped up to even port CM to our device, I think that's a pretty long stretch.
I'll probably sell mine and get something else that is supported, maybe the Nexus 6, even though I hate the size of it.

Probably the Global Single and Dual Sim Models, but don't nail me down to that... I have no Idea where the dev who might be already lurking in the shadows is from... if there is indeed one out there.

Kernel sources got released two days ago, that's why no one 'stepped up' for a cm build. Come on, G 1st gen has a pretty acceptable community, it will get to us eventually.
Or build one yourself...

The 2nd Generation was only released in September. Don't you think you are being a little impatient?
Besides, this phone kicks ass even when it is stock. I have yet to find a reason for rooting it or installing a custom ROM. and in the process voiding my warranty.
But it is a matter of personal preference.

To add to this question: will the XT1064 US/Canada GSM Single SIM model receive OTA updates? I'm using it in Jamaica

Try flashing new kernel from original development thread. It helps a lot with speed.
