[Q] Help with boot animations, battery icon, etc - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just got my 64gb HTC One today. I have rooted and am running CWM recovery 6.0.3.1, with Trickdroid 5.2.1 ROM. I have not flashed a different kernel, so unless Trickdroid does that mines stock.
The problem im running in to is that when i try to change boot animations (ive tried via ES file explorer and move the animation .zip to the system/media folder, as well as tried using ROM Toolbox Pro), status bar icons such as battery (tried with ROM Toolbox Pro), or changing the status bar's pull-down background (again tried with ROM Toolbox Pro), it doesn't work. Nothing ever changes, and the features that require installation from recovery give the following message within CWM....
--
Installing: /sdcard/romtoolbox/status_bar/StatusBg-Android10.zip... (varies depending on the item im trying to install)
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted ...
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM manager to report the issue.
This is the first device Ive rooted, and am still learning a lot as i go along. Is this something that any of you may be familiar with? Something im missing, or should approach differently? Ive tried to search for the answers but havent been able to find any, if theyre out there and i missed them a link would be appreciated (i dont want anyone to have to repeat what i may have overlooked.
Many thanks in advance, this website is an incredible resource!

post this on trickdroid thread dont think you can do it but i might be wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192324

Ok, I didn't realize there was a thread specifically for Trickdroid. Ill start a thread there. Do you think it may be a limitation imposed by the ROM?
Thank you for your advice about the other thread.

I am having the same problem with my Sprint HTC One using TWRP as my recovery. When I try to change boot animations in ROM Tool Box Pro it does not change the animation. When I try to change the status bar settings with ROM Tool Box Pro it reboots my whole phone and trashes the existing ROM so I have to restore with recovery. Before I got the HTC One I had a EVO and it crashed to trying to change status bar settings but would at least install boot animations. I not sure if its ROM Tool Box Pro is the problem or not.

Yeah, im still trying to figure it out as well. I cant post in the Trickdroid forums and their websites doesn't offer a support option. As of now im trying some different ROMs, but having little to no success with changing icons, boot animations, and other appearance tweaks.
Android can definitely be a bit of work it seems, but im enjoying it. I like the idea of eventually having the exact phone I want. Im just finding more questions that answers at the moment. lol

[Q] nexus one cyan mod problem - big one for me

hey guys, new to rooting my device. always been heavy into customization and seen alot of work on here for cyanogen mod. so - went ahead and did the one click root. worked fine, checked with superuser permissions, and rom manager. downloaded cm 6.0.0 stable. "flashed" that rom onto my device, and it asked me to reboot to take effect. so hit reboot. and it is now stuck on the startup boot logo for cm6 with the blue android with the circle around the edge (im sure you all know what im on about) having a look about cant seem to see anybody else with this problem.
heres hoping somebody will help me out, hopefully make me look like a prat and tell me its something really simple and easy to do. beacuse im not liking my phone right now at all :/
Boot into recovery, wipe the device, then reflash the rom.
okay, after having a play i've got it to boot into cm6.0.0 with google addon, however it now says there is no internet connection. anybody?

Stick to stock rom, CM6 kills your battery within a day, half a day if you are a heavy user. I am a lot into customization too but after moving to cm6 I moved back to stock within a week. I think your phone is hinting to you not to install cm6
i didnt know cm6 did that to be fair brother. however, that doesnt solve my problem at the moment. if i find i cant live with it, then ill reset back to stock or a different rom, but at the moment my main priority is to get access to my internet again for the time being whilst i look into different roms
Mine did the same thing. I just waited and within 5 to 10 minutes my phone started and I was able to use it.

Root My Vivid

Hello. I am new to this forum. I did do searching before I came here. I am sort of a noob so sorry for dumb questions. I wanted an MIUI theme on my phone. I tried MiHome but it doesn't change the UI so I want to get the MIUI ROM on my phone but I wasn't sure how. I know you have to root your phone first, but I read somewhere that MIUI isn't compatible with different rooting procedures like CyanogenMod. If thats true, which one is it compatible with? Is it possible for me to get MIUI on my phone? I have an HTC Vivid (of course) with Android ICS 4.0.3. Can anyone provide me with a guide on how to do get MIUI on my phone, preferably a video with a step-by-step description (yes, thats how noobish I am). Also, what are the odds of me rooting my phone if I follow the steps exactly as told? Sorry for a ton of questions. To sum things up, I would like to get MIUI ROM on my phone but have no idea how. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Alright....you need to do ALOT of reading...I only say that so you don't brick your phone...but here's some info as well as how to get miui
It doesn't matter how you root your phone, you can still flash any Rom...you don't even need to be rooted to flash roms
Cyanogenmod is not a rooting method, it is an aosp rom...you cam flash from cyanogen but our device doeant even have a cyanogenmod Rom (well there is one but it was discontinued...for now)
In order to get miui you will need to do the following:
1) unlock bootloader
2) get recovery
3) download miui onto your phone (can't be any miui...has to be one made for our phone...you can find it on rootzwiki.com)
4) flash miui
More detail:
In order to unlock bootloader and get a recovery I suggest using Hansen vivid toolkit that is stickier in the dev section...its the easiest most newb friendly way to unlock bootloader and get a recovery...for the most part all you do is plug in your phone and click a few buttons...here's the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003

I guess I'm forced to use my slow PC. Hopefully it won't shut down in the process or else I'll be screwed. :/ Thanks again! I'll let you know if it works out if you want.
Just some ideas , if your pc is slow you can download and of the files you need on your phone then transfer them over to the pc , also if you download the tool kit you shouldn't need anything else but the Rom , if you get s off you will need to do a couple of things , but as mg said do some reading on this subject to kinda get an idea as to what your working with , make sure you kinda understand it so you don't brick your ph. Better safe than sorry .
Good luck and if you have questions there is a lot of good people here and would be glad to help.

Help! I managed to root my phone, which is good. I am currently using WCX. I am not sure how to flash the rom. I tried going to my internal sd card and installing the miui zip file from there. After it reboots my phone, an htc logo loads, then it takes me to some chinese. It has like big chinese words on top in red, then in the middle it has white words, and in between the white words, it loads from 0 to 100 but I have no idea what to do now. It just leaves me stuck on this page! Can anyone help me? Do I need to uninstall the rom then follow a correct process of installation or can I just do the correct process? Also, please don't redirect me to some page, because I did a lot of googling and I found one which would help me, but the site is down. I am sure it isn't a long process. This is what I did:
1. Manually put the zip file into my internal sd card.
2. Rebooted my phone to recovery.
3. Installed the zip file, which flashed the rom.
Is that correct? Can someone please help me! Thanks!

1. Manually put the zip file into my internal sd card.
2. flash boot.img via fastboot (The boot.img should be in the zip of the rom You have to flash the boot.img - aka the kernel)
3. Rebooted my phone to recovery. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, factory reset
4. Installed the zip file, which flashed the rom.

I tried what you said. I am using the All In One tool kit that someone told me to use so I flashed the kernel (boot.img) through that, assuming it is fastboot. I then rebooted my phone to recovery and selected the zip file, it flashed it. I rebooted my phone and it still takes me to that chinese screen. Is there a different MIUI ROM zip file download? I used this one: androidfilehost.com/main/HTC_Holiday_Developers/rafyvitto/MIUI_ICS_V4/
Maybe a different file would work? Thanks in advance!

I have no clue what I did. I just rebooted and some other stuff but now it works. I think it was the wipe that I did. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I tried applying the Ultimate Iphone Theme v7.0 but it doesnt work. I go to themes and select it but it doesn't apply. I tried rebooting but it still doesnt work. I have the MIUI ROM on my phone. Why doesn't the Ultimate Iphone Theme apply? I really like it. Can anyone give me a step-by-step on how to install it because there are no good tutorials online. Thanks!

It's been a while since I used miui, but last I heard the themes in the miui theme chooser/downloader wernt compatible with miui...at least the majority wernt there was still quite a few that worked/partially worked

With the ROM I used, since I am S-On (which I assume you are too since you did not do the wire jump thing from what I read) after you initially flash the boot.img file using fastboot, you need to flash the rom, which you said you did. Then go back in and reboot to bootloader, and flash the boot.img again. It may have been just specific to the Rom I used, but that is the instructions I followed for mine. I hope you made a nandroid before you flashed Miui in case you ran into these troubles....

[Q] Boot animations very odd problem.

Hi, I have a good one that all of you could answer for me but first I would Like to say I Love the registration video. I would Love to shake your guys hands for that. Anyways I am going in details of this odd problem I am having.
First I have a HTC ONE, no GSM carrier because I live in a city that has many wifi hotspots and I am not going to why don't I have a GSM Carrier.
Second it is rooted, I am running clockwork mod 6.0, I have clockwork mod and rom manager and ROM toolbox pro. Busybox and SuperSU.
Now my problem is this, I can't get rid of the the damn AT&T Boot animation. I have tried to delete it in root explore, still would not disappear after I restart the device. I even tried to replace it with a different animation which I was intending of doing with a different animation but replacing the name with At&T boot animation. But still when I reset the device it would some how replace the whole damn zip file with the original one. I tried to install bootanimation.zip into system/media, the zip is there but it is not doing nothing. I tried to flash the zip in recovery and it failed. I tried Android commander, I delete it there, reset and still the same even using AC and renaming the file with another animation still the same. I am coming to understand that AT&T Zip is still locked onto my drive somewhere and I looked there isn't anything anywhere. I know the binaries will have nothing to do with this because that is a coded lines that ran tasks. So I don't even know why this is even happening, this is the first of seeing this. Also am thinking the partition of the drive may only be writable not re-writable but this can't be when I am able to delete the zip in the first place. But I can understand to a point because the other damn apps of att is still on my drive as well. So my question is this.
How do I get around this?
Is there a better tool for PC to write files onto the drive of the device?
Is there anything I have not done?
Is it that the drive not in re-writable format?
Is Att the Fing child from Hell?
Please let me know if you know anything, I am able to do everything else expect this.
Also if this is already been answered direct me to the forum because I looked and nothing helps other then installing the Animations.
Also if this is in the wrong forum direct it to the right one.
Thank You.
Flash a new kernel. Stock kernel doesn't have R/W enabled, therefore restores any modified files in /system to the original.

Be careful with Font Installer/ROM Toolbox

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give you a quick heads up; be careful when using "Font Installer" or ROM Toolbox (the Font Installer within it is the same tool by the same person).
I installed some fonts that were different from the Samsung ones, and used it for a while. The font didn't apply to all text, which kind of annoyed me but I lived with it. Today I tried to switch back to a Samsung default, but it didn't override the one I had selected. So I simply deleted those fonts I installed in Root Explorer (ONLY the 3 I installed) and rebooted thinking it would revert back to a default font.
I am now stuck on the boot animation. Oh well, I'll reflash but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. (The only things I should lose are a few pictures)

Before I force myself to be stuck on MF1, I am trying to repair what I did. Does anyone know if I can use ADB to push the files back to system/fonts?
I'm have the phone in stock recovery, and I have ADB up, but I get "device unauthorized" unless I select "send update from ADB" to which it wants me to sideload. I can sideload stuff, but that doesn't seem work for me wanting to push a few TTF files. Any ideas?

I wish I had seen this thread before I tried to use Font Installer to install a new font. I now have "Unfortunately Samsung keyboard has stopped" popping up every 5 seconds, and I can't access the keyboard to type anything else at all. I can only reboot using Recovery mode. I cleared the cache and did a full factory reset...still getting this error. The phone is rooted. I rooted following a very basic step by step procedure, so I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area, and would appreciate any help in getting access to the keyboard.

[Q] Htc1 M7 - Huge problem after Xposed update

Hey all, Bquamb here....
So I am just about ready to smash my HTC M7 after all the **** it has put me through..
I do have it fully rooted, Unlocked, yadda yadda w/ Android Rev. 31.6 (i believe) and last night
I noticed just before bed I would check my Xposed framework and found that I had an update.
I had backed up everything onto my Thumb drive... But I have a few huge problems...
So I updated the Xposed framework, Soft rebooted and it stayed on the Opening HTC One
w/ Beatsaudio at the bottom... and stayed like that the whole time i brushed my teeth. Came back,
still illuminated, totally stopped. I hold Power to restart and it does the same loop and stays on the same opening page.
So great.... I go into my CWM and find that my backup didn't actually back up and left me with
one 3 weeks previous... but even that seems to have faults and I lost a lot of important stuff....
Its gone, no point in worrying now.... but I NEED WiFi for work and home use. NOTHING
I open my Wifi, pop in the password and says saved and secured... Will not connect.
3G works fine but am very limited 100Mb... Fail
What the hell happened?! What went wrong? Has anybody else ever had said problem?
I have searched but I think this is a first post. I didn't find anything anywhere else.
Thank you!
I will get you screenshots when I can look at my phone again... Too angry.
Dont forget there is a zip file in /sdcard to revert change made by xposed. It might worth a try if you cant boot

What would the process be to revert this?
I think I forgot to mention, I did a restore from a previous save but its kinda old.
I have been looking everywhere for a solution... I have done everything i have found online (airplane, reboots, WiFi on off, restored 4x) and nothing works. It finds WiFi available hosts but will only save the connection without actually connecting.
So frusterating!

I understand its very frustrating. When you install xposed framework it create 2 files in /sdcard (xposed-disabler-cwm.zip and xposed-disabler-twrp.zip) when you are stuck in a bootloop for something related to xposed, just go in recovery (cwm for you), select install zip, and install xposed-disabler-cwm.zip.
Now that you restored a backup, I really don't know if it will work, but it might work to try. Maybe you want to disable all module and reboot and see if something change before doing the zip method. If nothing change, im afraid you'll need to do a factory reset
---------- Post added at 04:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:33 PM ----------
from Xposed site:
In case you get into a boot loop:
You can flash the attached Xposed-Disabler-CWM.zip by Tungstwenty. It will be copied to your (external) SD card when you install Xposed as well. The only thing it does is copying /system/bin/app_process.orig back to /system/bin/app_process, which you can also do yourself (e.g. with adb shell in recovery mode).
You could also create a file /data/xposed/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed as well.

Still not working... Wt did i do?
I can not connect to any wifi network but will find them.....
I have the same issue.. HTC One, rooted , with maximus hd. I thought it was because of sense toolbox. After I installed the toolbox and updated framework it rebooted and was stuck at boot up screen. I flashed a different Rom but it did the same thing. If you dirty flash the same Rom that was locked it should put all back working. It did for mine anyways. It seems as if it might be something with sense toolbox. I can run exposed with every mod but as soon as I check the toolbox it craps out. I don't have s-off, or CID. Thought I would try that then ran accross thus post. If a solution is found please let us know. I can provide any data if needed.

I am 4 Rom flashes in and ZERO Wifi works. Still scans and finds who ever is around but zero connection.
Grrrr!!!!
How did this happen for you? Was it a Sense or Busybox update? Also, did you update the xposed frame work as well?
I knew it, I knew it, brushing teeth's do **** up the phone. Confirmed!
I am not gonna brush. ever. like ever!
Made it happen again, I went to settings , sense toolbox. Told me the module needs to be installed through framework. Opened framework, check box in toolbox square, framework update, all good will be affective after a reb........ Suddenly it restarts. Stuck in boot up screen, went outside kicked my neighbors dog.
I may be wrong but it only happens when I think about sense toolbox.
I don't know...
