Hi there!
I'm planning to get myself the One
I'm a little concerned about the usable storage.
For a 32gb variant, how much storage is usable?
How about with the 64gb variant?
Kinda tossing between 32gb and 64gb right now

For 32g useful about 25gig

Yes - my 32gb HTC One had about 25Gb available straight out of the box. You can gain back a little extra by deleting the pre-loaded music and images and removing any uneccesary pre-loaded apps.

Is the highest capacity 32GB? Or has anyone tried 64GB

according to the manufacturer 32GB is the highest.
OK great I was going to expand memory and knew it was labeled at 32GB just didn't know if it was hardware or software limited. Anyone maybe try otherwise?

32GB is the largest micsro SD card I can find at the moment. Have you seen any available that are larger?
Update: Oh, okay some company called KingMax has one out. Couldn't find any larger than 32GB on Amazon though.
Final thought: 80 GB phone baby!!! I've already got about 32 or so movies on my 32GB SD Card. 10GB Music on the internal SD.
Yea I have found them around as large as 64GBs just was curious as to if anyone has made the jump and tried it out.
Whatever you do, don't get a cheapo one from eBay.
I bought a counterfeit 32GB card on eBay. (Google it if you're interested.)
Revo won't support it but you can an buy 128gb sd cards

They need to start making 200gb sd cards =). I need enough room to carry my entire music collection of flac albums with me.
Most SSD's are still priced a little higher than the general public is willing to spend, so generally any flash memory card larger than 64GB/128GB isn't really going to sell well enough for the OEM's to justify manufacturing.
Seeing as how no phone supports more than a 64gb card, you could have a 200TB card if you want but your phone will never support it.
I don't understand why the SD card was partitioned this way. On my SGS it had 2GB for app/system and ~13GB usable.
But the Raider has 8.83GB usable 3.42GB internal which equals to 12.25GB what about the other 4GB.
With 16GB i would expect at least 14GB of usable storage weather they be system or for music/videos.
The way hTC partitioned the SD card is very weird is there any way to re-partition so we get more usable storage then 8.83GB?
Advertising 16GB and only getting 8.83 usable seems like a huge lie in my opinion.
I don't understand their reasoning either lol. I have been wondering why it is like this too

That's different. The Vivid has 8.83GB of phone storage and 3.7GB internal storage. Making a total of 12.53GB out of 16. With the Android OS and the Sense UI, 3.46GB is being used to support them. I think HTC did it that way since they didn't include an SD card with it. Especially since the internal storage acts as an SD card, cause that is where apps go when you move them to SD. Also could be that they wanted you to maximize available space on your SD card for music, pictures, and videos.

on the HTC site for the velocity it says
"Available storage: up to 13 GB"
on the HTC site forthe Vivid it says
"16 GB eMMC"
So it seems a little missleading, but it doesnt technically say that 16GB would be available.
There may be a way to flash a new partition layout via CWM, no doubt it would be fraught with danger.

All spec listings for the Velocity show 16GB storage with 13GB user available, The Vivid listings only show 16GB and doesn't show how much is available to the user. I don't know why they show user available for the Velocity and not the Vivid. Here are more differences between the Velocity and Vivid. Base OS for Velocity is Android 2.3.7, Vivid has 2.3.4. Sense version for Velocity is 3.5, Vivid has 3.0.

Still seems like a lie to me, it say 16GB then i would think i would have that for storage. By doing it this way you get very little for storage, really get half of what was advertised.
Sure part of it was for apps but the way Samsung partitioned was nice and made sense this however is limiting the user, I may not have a lot of apps so space is just sitting there and cannot be used. 8GB is easy to fill having 13GB is still not enough but that's what the micro SD card is for but still better then 8GB which is extremely low for a device.
On the SGS any large app was installed on user usable storage, which gave the user control to delete it if needed. I have a few games that i had installed that downloaded 500MB for which i cannot delete because its not on user usable storage.
I can't think of a single electronic device that has an OS that doesn't advertise the size of the full HDD. When you buy a PC you expect a portion of the HDD will be used for Windows, when you buy a phone you should expect the same IMO. It would be different if there was internal storage for the OS and you were talking about the external SD. In any case, swing by Newegg and pick up an SD for cheap and it won't be an issue.

hehe your point is valid, I would just rather not have ~4GB partitioned just for OS 2GB is enough. If an app needs room it can install on the user usable partition (Phone Storage).
Actually i have a 32GB card in the phone and not running out of space per-say. But i have a 2 hour commute everyday and lots of music and Shows that i watch.
Its not a deal breaker just seems a little weird coming from SGS which kept it very simple resulting in more usable storage for music and videos.

The operating system (linux) does report the sizes, but the front end gui (android) does not as it is not written that way.
It is anoying, but thankfully you have an expansion slot
Hey,
Can someone explain/clarify our phones storage to me.
It looks like we have 2 partitions on our phone...sortof ...
~8+GB of what it calls Phone storage, but is actually part of the phone storage.
And ~4GB of what it calls, Internal Storage...
BUT both are actually the phones storage?
This excludes any MicroSD card you may have put in the phone.
I have a SanDisk 64GB MicroSD Card... which so fare has been pretty useless on this phone...other than saving digital recordings...and photos (strangely the same photos are saved on the "Phone Storage" to although I have it marked for save to "Storage CArd")...
Can we move apps to our Micro Sd cards, like with the old WM phones?
Thanks for the clarification and help
BTW: I'm running the stock GB Rom
get the app apps2sd or link2sd
i dont think the vivid supports 64 gig micro sd card..i think the highest u can go is 32 gigs

Nope. Mine has had 64GB card for months (almost a year now, bought not long after purchasing the phone)...working fine, like a number of other people on here.
Saves pictures, attachments, music, etc.
Here's an old post on it, I know I started one way back when too so there are a few about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563079
Got a ScanDisk MicroSDHC...or HX something 64GB class 6 for ~30 at BestBuy...
I'll try the app given...can anyone answer the partition questions?
I know the operating system takes some 5GBs, but I don't have +6GB of apps so I can't figure out where my Rom is going.
Hi how much of HTC One's internal storage available for the end user?
I would be interested in hearing about this too, especially after the debacle over the 8gb available to users on the 16gb SIV. I went to a Singtel shop yesterday and the 32gb unit seemed to say that there space available to the user was around the 20gb mark. Is this what other people are seeing?
The 32GB model has around 26GB left (I can't remember exactly but it was around 6GB taken) and people have reported having around 54GB left on their 64GB models.

So my freind is bummed she cannot unlock her bootloader and root/rom her At&T Note 4. She is so bummed she wants me to buy her a Note 4 T-Mobile and root/rom it for her and she will switch to T-Mobile once I do so.
That being said I know they sell a 64GB Model instead of the 32GB but T-Mobile will have none of it. They say that's not an option and they only sell the 32GB. Pfffffff. I know it's out there but a quick search on eBay, Amazon even Craigs finds nothing
Anyone have any ideas where I can get one?? Last year I saw someone with it, using it, and it was custom themed with a rom and root on t-mobile. He got one and said they are hard to come by but are out there.
HELP! Where can I get her one?

You don't really need the 64GB.....I have a 32GB and bought a 64/128GB sd card, that's all you need!

Well, like me she has had android a lot and has a few hundred apps - maybe not as many as me but a lot still. The issue is on 32gb, it fills up with apps then u gotta one by one move to sd move to sd and its a PAIN IN THE ASS
If she has 64gb internal would not be an issue. She kinda does need it and yes I plan to put 128 external sd card

I'm not sure if you going to find a 64 version.... It's very rare or probably a limited edition....SD card slot was the main reason why the device came with 32GB internal storage! Good luck

I suppose you could install cm13 and use the adoptable storage with the sd card then if it really is that big a problem

Ummmm why would I post something if I am not serious unless I put jkjk I am definitely not kidding.
32 GB does not hold all the apps that will install, so most must be moved to SD card (external SD) and that is a one by one process. Unless you know of a batch move or move all to SD where I can do them all with a few clicks instead of one by one then I really need the 64GB model
Samsung says they make it - chatted, emailed and called them but they say they do not have a dealer list of who sells them - but they have been making them a while now
so someone has to carry the 64GB model???
WHO? I have scoured the internet and found sh*t
64gb note 4 is a myth in USA, maybe somewhere overseas they make the 64gb international version but even that seems rare.

Note 5 64GB is available for TMO
Have you called T-Mobile, or only asked in store? If it exists it probably was never available in store.
Trust me, the 32GB is enough. I have about 250 apps on my Note 5 and I am barely hitting 10GB of app storage usage. Also have a Note 4 with 32GB internal storage plus a 128GB microSD card in it and barely used the card. If you are into taking 4k video or wanting to put your movies on your phone, that's where more internal storage comes in handy. If not, then 32GB should be more than enough to do the job. As far as a 64GB note 4, Samsung only made a 32GB note 4, the only reason why they made a 64GB note 5 is to replace not having an microSD slot in it.
