on ebay they do ones that just cover the screen and not buttons thats what i use
Try this,
settings > language & keyboard > htc sense input > advanced > calibration tool
see if that will make the response better.
I had this trouble but the new update fixed the response for me

I use trickdroid. Is there a solution?
The home and back button are not good.

I'm on the sprint version (not updated yet) and I was having the same issues with response - I'm using a screen protector. It could be just placebo, but when I use power saver or if I turn the vibration on the buttons off, they seem to always work. I've been testing it for the last fifteen minutes without a mispress.
Maybe the rest of you could try it and see as well?

That's the most current available on AT&T. To get the actual most current you'd have to root and install custom ROM on 1.29....13

I just put on my otterbox screen protector and now I am having troubles with the capacitive buttons. No issues prior to the screen going on.
I'll have to try out the SPGs, I haven't had a problem with them back with my last cell.
I have a Rogers SIM card. What version is Roges on? If it is higher, will the Rogers SIM card update my software?
I think skin oils are causing a drop in capacitive button response. Wipe the button area clean with a sleeve and it should start working again.

To me it happens mostly with the back button. Drives me crazy in tapatalk. I'm not buying the screen protector as the issue. I had the issue before and after putting one on.

I've used it like this for quite a bit longer...and while it's a great temporary solution it's not fool proof.
In my experience the buttons need to be "reset" every once in a while...power switch, long press, vibration switched.
But I do think taking off the vibration helps the buttons to not mess up as often. I recommend people to try it for sure.

Updates are in the settings under "system updates"
Currently the updates for the htc one have pushed to the euros, in the state's we're waiting for the carriers to release it.
Your other alternative would be to root your phone and flash a rom with the update fixes.

I am most likely just going to take my phone back to the store soon since I've had it for less than two weeks. I want to see if anyone else has this issue though. My power button is really mooshy. There is basically no tactile feedback when you push it. It hardly feels like I've pushed the button when it activates. Anyone else? Should the button have any sort of click to it?
Same here. 3rd replacement and this is the worst power button out of all of them and i shouldn't have to use s2w or dt2w

Mushy sounds yummy. It's a good thing (i just had cake)
Lol no it's not good. Buttons flick because of a small piece of .. man hard to explain, it's like a small bump that goes up and down.. and makes noises?
I'm out of ways to explain this haha but basically, they bump is what creates contact between the button and the input or system. Mushy means it's broken and the button may not work later in my experience.
Hope some of that made sense

the power button of my first one was also very crappy
it was go down into the One and you could press it only with your nails. very annoying :/ Went to the T-Shop and returned it. one day later they called me that my new One ist already there with a working power button.
At the HTC One T-mobile General forum there's also a thread about the quality management of the HTC One.
So, this thing drives me crazy...I've tried everything I knew and still nothing solved this problem.
I'm using HTC One. About 10 days ago weird things with touch started to happen. It seems that touch is partly unavailable/unresponsible on touch in one or two small areas. It seems to me like theres an empty place on my touch. Visualy is everything fine. Screen is crystal clear and has no damages or scratches. But I can't slide icons without troubles. Somwhere on 1/4 of screen, touch brakes briefly and I need another try to slide the icon. The same thing happens with status bar on the top of screen - I can slide it until that 1/4 part and it stops there and goes back. If I slide it quick with short move, it works fine, just slide alone over problematic area.
Also, few times I had that problem where screen works things on itself will. Makes pictures, or adds filters on Instagram, or, I don't know, just jumps around for few secons. Then, I lock the screen, then unlock it and usually that calm down the screen.
Also weird thing is that, when I want to send message, I can't reach "send" button in first try. I have to drop down writing sheet, than to touch the letters to put it in writing mode again, and then I can click the "send" button. On the same place where it was previously!
At first, I thought that plastic case or PVC protection is the problem, so I took off the protector from the screen. That solved problem for a bit. Then, I put back screen guard, and problem came back. After I totally rejected screen guard, problem is still here. I've tried to reset phone on factory, but that wasn't helpfull...
I forgot to state that I'm using Android 4.2.2 and this started to happen after that version update. I had no problem before.
So, now I'm here, as I don't know what else to do before I take this beauty to service. I just hope that this happens because of software bugs :crying:
Is there anyone who could help me? Have similar problem or know how to fix this?
In the meantime, I'll just hope that 4.3 will fix it themself... :fingers-crossed:

Here's the thing that seems to be permanent now, it doesn't want to go back to normality...when I want to touch red dot and slide the YouTube song forward, I can't reach it, there's no reaction in that area. But, although I'm touching the red dot, the only thing my touch do is to expand the song title area or opposite of it (English is not my native language, so I don't know to explain better).
This area is the same problematic one that I described in first post...

I'm afraid but ther's no way... In this week i'll send my HTC One to htc because wifi won't turn on and camera is crazy... You have to send it to htc, too... You're phone will be repaired in guarantie, of course. I suggest you to talk with HTC Assistence Service's Chat (Google it). I'm talking right now with HTC..
The main problem with me is that in Montenegro doesnt exist HTC official store, so I bought my phone in the regular cell phone store. I'm pretty sure that I won't get another device neither free of charge service. I'll try to ask for advice in Serbian HTC center...
In any case, thank you for your time Alberto

I have the same problem with my HTC One here, in Australia.

Maybe the software update? Has anybody tried factory reset?

Hi, I think 901s as I'm in SE Asia. It is noticeably dimmer than the other two. The shop said they'd get back to me.
I'm using a 901s and all three buttons are lit pretty equally. Sadly there doesn't appear to be a way to alter the brightness in the settings.
901s here and they are all the same brightness.

It is a great phone. So much better than the one. This is what the one should have been. Anyway, think I found a bug in the music app. Happened on two of my earlier ones.( had the black before the silver one). The music will start skipping and tripping for no reason when using headset. Sometimes, it takes a while, sometimes straight away. Really annoying. Sometimes calls last number. Anyone else? Cheers.

Seems that the button on the headset is too sensitive, so it's accidently pressed when wearing, so you have such problem. I have HTC RC E160 which came for me in the box and I also experienced such things when buttons were pressed by my bag, although they're tougher.

Yes.
I noticed that every once in a while, the touchscreen on my Z1 "skips". i.e., if I draw a straight line with my finger, it will actually come out as a few short lines with a break between them.
I notice it most in the pattern unlock screen. I will draw my pattern, but it will connect 2 dots, jump, connect another 2 dots, jump again, until I get the pattern wrong error, and in the second attempt everything is fine.
Has anyone else experienced that?

This happens every once in a while for me while using Swype keyboard. I thought it was a Swype issue, but if you're having this then maybe it's the phone. Haven't noticed it anywhere else but haven't tested.

I've run into something like this when trying to pull up the pie menu. Normally, sliding up onto the screen from below will trigger the pie menu to pop up (similar to the default "google now" trigger gesture). Every once in a while it'll instead register as a number of taps on whatever is already on that area of the screen (thus triggering some untended action or link most of the time). Of course it won't happen when I'm trying to reproduce it or running some kind of test, but when I least expect it, it happens again.
To verify this issue you can also try going to: Settings, About Phone (last entry on the bottom), Diagnostics, Test Device, Touchscreen.
If the recorded line really does skip you should contact your reseller/ Sony.
If it is just an occasional error it might be Software and not Hardware related. I have not had this problem yet, though.
Oh finally so it's not me alone. Great phone but this single problem lets it down. I'm suspecting a lot ppl have it and dont realise. Not everyone uses swype keyb or swype pattern unlock.
My suspicion is the sony screen protector fitted at factory. Tempted to rip it off.

Nope not really even though I was convinced at first. Problem comes and goes randomly.
My real issue is using Swype and it's driving me mad. As a workaround if I use my thumb it works fine. Must be the amount of surface contact while I swype.

For few weeks I never saw that problem on mine so I was not worry about it but today I tested few nice games and I realized that after a minute playing the game (Minimotor or HAWX) the virtual joystick stopping working. I have to retouch the joystick with my hand or take off my hand from the phone. All the time.
This is bad, so the Flagship Device is comming to be a Crap Device.

If I change hand positions/put the phone down, and retry--swype works fine. Anyone else having similar issues?

i have already highlight this issue to a sony rep at their forum few days ago. he have already escalated this issue.
Trying to hit the store tomorrow.... But I can't reproduce the error consistently, but I have gotten it to fail on the touchscreen test mainly on the lower half of the screen. And every time, if I reposition my hand, it fixes itself. I do notice more dust on the screen when it has problems.
Makes me think the screen is too sensitive in certain cases (dust, fingerprints,??) , or considering this problem started after I got a very, very fine scratch near the top of the screen....i.e. a scratch on the anti shatter film is creating some problem. I'm getting a zagg screen protector but it would be nice if Sony offered a replacement film.
