eMMC Entropy contribution - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So in the fauxclock app, on the IOSCHED tab there is a slider/option for eMMC Entropy, think I've seen it in trickstermod too, was curious what was the best setting for this, default is on, fauxclock recommends it off.
Would have asked in his thread but not enough posts on the forum yet. Thanks!

Basically, there's an entropy pool of random numbers for use by your phone. This can get low, causing lag. Entropy gen keeps this pool well stocked, however it is not proven to work and since it is always running it may drain your battery

Still a little confused by your response, is that a "it should be off " or "it should be on"? Thanks!

Possible overclock?

I found this thread on the bionic forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439013 with overclock zips. The modules for d3 are available here http://code.google.com/p/opptimizer/downloads/list from what I read in the official thread here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14511-op...4-overclocking-kernel-modulesofficial-thread/ it would show up in set cpu and wouldn't require having the MIN jacked all the time. anyone see any reason this wouldn't work?

Working good here. Clocked at 1.2
[edit] So apps do see the max as 1.2, Rom manager, cm settings etc. Linpack shows better performance no different than the 1200 overclock binary. The only thing missing is the 1000 slot, 300 600 800 and 1200 are all useable.
I'd say it's very safe just don't go too high.

Reading in the other threads it appears that much over that and phone will just reboot due to lack of voltage. I thought this would be nice in that the kernel sees the change and we don't have to have the cpu at full throttle

Go to the opptimizer website (Tekahuna's website).
Then go to updates. There should be updated modules there for droid 3 with voltage control.
Always post your results and questions on the official thread here...

This link is the only place you will get support and help Tekahuna with feedback.

Yes I just read through the entire thread. Voltage control is a fail for the bionic sadly due to reasons I mostly but not entirely understood. I think the d3 is gonna have the same issue from what I (sorta) understood. However when I have time to sit down and try this I will def post in the official thread to let him know my experience.
I just wanted to show it to the xda d3 community, as the idea of voltage control and a 1.5 or higher oc is exciting (if you're like me and get excited about such things )

Phone dieing?

My phone for some reason keeps turning off and no matter what I press I cannot get any response. The only way to get my phone alive again is to pull the battery out and reinsert. I have never dropped my phone. This has happened twice this week Tuesday and Saturday.
I'm unlocked via htcdev and s-off using revolutionary. I'm on ice cold 7.2 farewell edition.
Any help on preventing this or explanation would be great.
Thank you
Vizzy

Give us some more info. What rom, what kernel, any rogue apps just before this started happening?
Ice cold 7.2 farewell edition, and its just the standard kernel. No apps have been installed that should of caused this as ive used them all for months.

IMHO it unfortunately sounds like a hardware issue unless someone else has some insight into it.
Thats what i was afraid of haha. If it was a hardware issue, due to HTCdev unlock does it mean i cant claim on warranty?
Its because oc i had the same issue.

Set you device in tge Settings to
192 -10xx mhz ondemand and look if it reboots.
If it does make a backup and wipe everything and install the rom and apps again.

Which is the best kernel !!!!!! POLL

I make this thread so that we can find the best kernel for nexus 4 and also the difference between the franco , trinity, and matrix and motley kernel.
So post ur experience and also share screen shot for battery like battery screen ,graph and screen time.
In this way we can also help the developers to build their kernel more good...

I m using franco kernel r85 so its gud....with underclocking and undervolting i got 1:30 and device runing for 5hr 20mins scree time and battery is at 74%....
I will upload the screens ones i reach 5% juice....

These threads are frowned upon here at XDA for numerous reasons: there's no real answer, they turn into pissing matches and trolling, and this is actually the worst way to find the "best" kernel.
The one and only way to find what's "best" is for you personally to read and take the time to flash kernels and use them for several days under various real-world scenarios. Then and only then can you know.

Shutting down constantly

Hi everyone,
I'm having a Galaxy ExhibitG and it starts to shut down constantly everytime I open too many apps or run something too heavy. And it won't let me power on the phone and even if I can the bettery status went crazy (from 90% to 0% then 20%)
One solution to this is to plug my phone in the charger constantly, but I need to take it to work and school.
The problem actually started to happen after I flashed Linaro CM 10.1 romm by smartguy(for got the number)
Any idea why?
Thank you.
Sounds like you might have a bad battery

I an positive its your battery myself and plenty of others have had this exact problem. Amazon and eBay are your friend if you don't want to spend $40+

Is dual core an obselete spec for phones????

I always love my note but here the prob is not the phone specs. But the apps thats are getting bigger and bigger day by day. Just like PC times. Just because of that now some basic apps that are with me since the start if this phone are slowing down my phone.
I think there should be a basic version of all apps and then the fancy version.
Facebook, viber and other apps are now taking like 80 mb each. Where as they were just about 8 to 10 mbs in ginger bread. I guess its time for me to put this note in my drawer and get a nee device.

You're still around here? *butt-clench*
What you are stating is a lack of RAM not processing power... And no nowadays there is still not that much wrong with a dual core. Android just isn't properly optimized to use all of its cores at the same time > that doesn't mean that it doesn't use all of its cores when it needs to to be powerful enough. But that means that, for example, when the load is 50% it is better for both cores to run on ~25% then one to be inactive and the other on 50%. Of course the single threaded performance of newer cores (A53 etc.) has increased, but that wasn't question
Phones are just like laptops, only more power constraint...
I know this case. Android closes apps with OOM and Memory Killer (something like that). Some apps could use to stay longer resident in the ram. The dificulty is that, for example, you could leave comfortably 10 tabs open in the browser, but if they use CPU power (even above 0.1%), the os will close the entire app. So no matter how much ram or cpu power you have, the power management will kick in?
We need a new kind of battery technology. Phones that don't need to recharge a whole month.

It might be your data partition filling up. 30% free space seems to be the minimum needed for speedy reads and writes. I used this method to increase the data partition to 6g.

And now the note is speedy again on stock samsung rom.
