Difference between Cm, aokp, aosp, pac Roms? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hii all,
I am confused between cm, aokp, aosp and pac type rom.
Developers make the rom but they dont explain the advantage/disadvantage of these type of rom.
Can someone explain me what are these, there differences and advantages of each rom?
Thanks Gaurenteed..

well cm means(cyanogen mod) they are devs share their sources and its good one.
aokp means(android open kang project) and also they are devs share their sources and sure its diffrent from cm.
aosp(android open source project) that type google it self make it and share their sources and its the clear android version without any changes just the original view that nexus devices have.
and pac means (paranoid +aopk + cm) that means this kind of roms have the whole those thing above together in one rom and its pretty awsome
and for me i used cm10.1 by biel and use scripts (this make the rom more smooth and more active ) so i used the script by slaid480 and it called(fly on mod) and everyghing work good for me
thats it
hope you understand

I have only used CM(7.2) till now...
But here is what i know/read and can sum up:
•AOSP-Best ones (performance wise). They are most stable since they are official. They are released only after extreme alpha and beta phases... but not as customizable as others.
•AOKP: They are modded versions of AOSP. Customizable. But I have read somewhere that they drain a lot of battery.
•CM: More fast. More Stable. They are the ones that give you unofficial releases of ICS, JB, etc.
•PAC: Its a hybrid. Cant guarantee battery life. But can be awesome if you put it to use in right way.
However, if you are new to flashing, I'd recommend CM 7.2 (further ones are not as stable as 7.2)... Rest can be used after you get hold of things.
But its up to you to decide.
Best Of Luck....
Plz hit thanks if you think this was helpful.

Everyone have different experience with roms...i have same battery life with aokp and cm10.1,but i use aokp as its faster and smoother..aosp is smoother than cm and aokp, but its not customizable.

In simple words,
1) CM offers customisation and control but not as handy as aokp.
2) AOSP roms are the ones that offer no customisation at all unlike cm, aokp etc. They just give you the pure Android experience like your stock rom.
3) Paranoid Android is famously known for bringing tablet like ui on phones with customisation & controls much similar to cm.
4) PAC rom is an integration of all, i.e., aokp, cm and paranoid android.

I kinf of get the op idea, and both paranoid and aokp are cm9/cm7/jelly bean based
Be a lot easier if libaries and other nececities were updated for ARMv6 past GB on AOSP.
Lewa, its cm based, but heavily modded.

AOSP based roms for the Touchpad

Guys,
I tried the AOKP Schizoid rom, which has too many controls within and a odd setup for screen based buttons, and then i tried the unofficial CM10 preview which has issues of its own. I am still running the ICS rom that came out, with no camera working.
What is the best rom to flash via CWM.
Thanks !
If you want an AOSP based ROM you can grab the slim ROM from my CM10AOKP thread.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
There is a camera fix you can flash for CM9. Its in the development forum.
What I will never understand is how CM ROMs always come out with broken cameras, yet someone else always manages to make a camera fix. Its almost like the folks at CM hate cameras, and maybe even break them on purpose.

[Q] Cm11 or Omni Rom 4.4?

CM have about 25 million users worldwide, and now Cm11 is taking a huge step forward by using this new easy way to upgrade the smartphone system. Omni Rom 4.4 is a new project, with great and promising fectures and developers. What is the best way to go? They will be nearly the same?
For me there is only CM I`m a big fan since CM 9 ...but i think you should test both and make your own decision what works better for you ...
sorry for this ,but in the end it is subjective where your own preferences are ...

This boils down to personal preference. They won't be the same - CM will have features that Omni doesn't, and vice versa.

I think Omnirom will be great, they're focusing their attention on under-the-hood features of great interest:
Multiwindows,
Delta update,
Reworked DSP
OmniFile
and their development plan will make Omnirom an really appreciated rom

Multi Windows!!!!? if that 's right then this will be the best ROM for i9000.
But omnirom is still in alpha mode with many issues pending to be solved.
CM nightly have very little minor bugs which can be ignored. I love it. I am using cyanAOSP 1.4.0 KitKat ROM based on CM11 and it is awesome.
this is my 100th post, and finally a senior member on XDA. yippie!!!!
I'm not sure that multi windows is going to be much use to us on a 4" screen..

my personal opinion (and wish) for every ROM/kernel developer would be to focus on power consumption. I have tried many ROM and read too many threads...Not a single ROM/kernel can reach stock ROM's deep sleep figures

There is only so much you can do, especially since you're running firmware intended for stronger devices, with dual and quad cores being the norm for ICS/JB nowadays

I will also test it later on today. I'm presently using your other ROM and I am quite pleased with it .
What is actually the difference between them? I got the impression both are based on cm10.1 with some KK additions?
Can anyone post simple screenshots please?

Congrats and salutations! Gone beyond cooking and actually into development. Welcome aboard.
As I said, I am using cm10.2. Has bluetooth problem (partly better but not really well-behaved in cm10.1) but it does run much nicer than cm10.1. Also prefer its notifications features. Of course, sources you backport might gain some more speed and smoothness for your hybrid as well. As far as I got with cm11 experimentals, bluetooth turned on and off like in the old days. Found KitKat too dependent on Chromium which is armv7 so lets out our devices. So maybe your approach is the way to go. Are you daring to touch ART (OK, your ROMs are a work of art)??
What are you doing about selinux? Old recoveries will flash the ROM?
Fix camera default exposure? Have everyone eating out of your hand
All the best. Watching this one!

Just ported small features till now. selinux and all are from cm10.1. So will be compatible with old kernels too.
And camera exposure an things are secondary, as can use third party apps as of now.
And thanks for wishes

Yeah I've googled it. They "sound" very different but in practice they feel the same.
I'm only asking for the main differences between them.
Back in the days of 4.1 ROMs dmod etc all the ROMs were very different. Now they don't seem that way.

I think that they are very different in the settings but their interface is the same cause they are all basedon the aosp project. If you want to see the differences search videos read the Rom posts or just download them and try them both....
