Hey Guys, I just got the htc one (m7) from t mobile. I just unlocked my boot loader and flashed TWRP. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to partition my 32 hard drive on the phone. I want to have 2 partitions. One with 5gb and one with 27gb. This will help me with flashing different roms on the 5gb partition and having it run on that instead of worrying about my pictures, video, and music from being deleted every time i do a wipe before flashing a rom. I know it can be done. Think of it as my 27gb partition acting as a sd card will since the phone does not come with sd card support. Please can some one help me with this issue.
Wiping your phone should only consist of deleting /data, /system, and /cache. None of these should have any effect on your media stored on the phone.
Not saying it can't be done, but I've never heard of anyone partitioning the internal memory.
You will need S-Off first before being able to partition the nand chip unless you want to brick your device.
partition not needed?
So you're saying that doing a full wipe on my phone and flashing a rom, wouldn't delete the data stored in the internal memory of the phone. Also will I be able to flash a rom on my without having S-off.
What does S-off mean any way. I previously had an htc sensation and I had S-off, but I never knew what that meant. I just took it as S-off means my phone is unlocked.

Ok so I rooted my phone as well as partinoned my SD card (I have an 8 GB now) a while back and now I am having problems with my SD card. The other day my phone gave me a message saying that my Sd card was not supported and that I needed to format it. Stupid me I did that on my computer and wiped everything of of it. My friend who also has a rooted G1 got my phone to restore the CM but now everything is saving to my phone again. I tried to part it again and it says that nothing is found. Any ideas on what I did and what I can do to get everything back to the way it was when it was working correctly?
Also my phone started doing this other weird thing where I'm viewing anything and im scrolling through whatever the screen timesout eventhough I'm touching it. Anything to help with this aswell?
Thank you guys so much for the help!
I lost ya when you said you tried to part it again but nothing is found. Did you partition the card and no apps are found or you couldn't partition the card.
I tried to partition the card again but there was no data found and I couldn't partition it.
If you can't even partition it then you have a bad card brother. The strange behavior could be a symptom of the ext partition failing. I'm assuming you have a swap partition but don't actually use it with a user.conf file otherwise a failing card would cause your phone to completely freeze.
Hi all,
A couple of days ago i decided to give my phone a completely fresh start, looking back i wish i never did. Here's my problem:
As soon as i create any ext partition on my SD card the phone will not boot past the splash screen. When i remove the partition all is well but i really love APPS2SD so this is not an option for me.
Here's some more info on my setup;
ADP1 (PVT 32B ENG S-OFF)
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (DREA10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Running the latest cyanogen's recovery
Here's what i already tried (i know its a long read but please hang in there);
I formatted the SD card using a HTC Magic (as stated on cyanogens wiki that formatting on android 1.6 is preferred). Put signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip and update-cm-4.2.13-signed.zip on the SD and followed instruction to flash both in correct sequence. This works flawlessly, booting up with no issues at all. I then turned the phone off and put the microSD in my PC.
I then proceeded to shrink the FAT32 partition (Ubuntu GParted) to make room for the ext partition but not created this partition just yet for testing purposes. Put the SD card back in the phone and i boots up like a dream (no pun intended) running smooth as ever so the shrunk partition is still working great! Once again turned the phone off and put the SD back in my PC to create the ext partition and that's where the problems begin; as soon as ANY ext partition is present (i tried ext2, ext3 and ext4) the phone will not get past the splash screen!!
As soon as i remove this ext partition all works great once again! So then i figured i'd probably have to flash everything from scratch with the ext partition present but this gives me the same results every single time with ext2/3/4 partition present. I even gave Amon-RA's recovery a try with this same process, and even tried to create the partitions using that. No luck, same results every single time.
Now in the past i always used APPS2SD with a ext2 partition without any problems but now i am unable to just get it back to work!
I have a feeling that something goes all messed up somewhere in creating the ext partition but i just cant put my finger on it where, i've ben on this for 3 days now so any input would be very much appreciated!

Your sd could be going bad.
Which version of Amon_Ra are you using?Try repartitioning your sdcard and try another rom like Super-D thats much faster and see where that gets you.

Thank you for the very fast reply!
I'ver tried repartitioning multiple times with different partition sizes and i used the latest of Amon_RA's work (dream v1.5.2).
I will give Super-D a try just for kicks..
And before i forget, i also tried flashing with the defanged DRC83 base and older versions of cyanogens just to make sure without any luck. I also always double-check the MD5sums on all the files that get on my phone!

Well my friend, your first hunch appears to be correct! I've done some small experiments with the card - copying large files back/forth and checking integrity - and it appears that the card is indeed messed up! That's just one of those things i never seem to come up with myself!
I just came back from the store to buy a new cheap card, and even tho its only a class 2 everything formatted and installed without any problems including the APPS2SD! So i guess ill have to order myself a new card, bummer those things only last a year and a half as it appears, i guess ill just have to keep the receipt and get myself a new one under warranty every now and then......
Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction!

I had that happen to my 8Gb, had it for about a year i think.
did you use 1.6 or did you format from Amon? Also, is i possible not to load "signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip". And just go download everything again from the market? Someone said I don't need that file? Where they trying to brick me?

I just formatted the card in a cardreader using Gparted, a FAT32 partition for the whole size of the card minus space for the EXT and swap partition (in my case 512+32Mb resp.). Don't know if it is mandatory but i also flagged the FAT32 boot and lba and it works brilliant for me!
I indeed used the devphone OTA update, but only do this is you have a ADP1... I guess you could probably mess up a normal G1 with that rom. Just follow instructions! Pick the correct 1.6 base rom for your phone (either defanged or the devphone version), flash it and without a reboot flash the latest cyanogens rom over the base, its all explained quite idiot-proof on cyanogens wiki.
Hey guys. I recently followed the guide and rooted my n1 without unlocking the bootloader. Today I flashed a new rom, after setting up the phone to my liking I went to show someone a photo.....they are all gone.
I tried restoring my previous nandroid backup. No luck.
Why would the photos on my sd card be erased from flashing the phone? Is there any way to get them back? I had countless important and irreplaceable photos stored on the phone...
Thanks guys
mount the SD card on your computer and check if they're there. It may be that for whatever reason the rom isnt picking them up - unlikely tho :-/
I'm guessing you did a full wipe including sdcard in the custom recovery by mistake.
oh and btw, if you did format the sdcard by mistake, you should probbaly mount it to your PC and use a 'uneraser' to try to recover your pictures. Better do it soon before more of the sdcard gets overwritten by new stuff.
They should be on your SD card. /DCIM/Camera/
Hello folks
I opened this thread as having serious problem with extSD Card. During rooting and flashing process I accidentally wiped both int and ext contents. Luckily brought back my phone from grave as obviously no OS and full erase. I installed new OS with Sideload using Hasoon2000's All-in-One toolkit. Unfortunately I cannot bring back mounted ext SD card and also PC seen only Internal storage. This is boring as I cannot flash anything. More over I worry to reset phone because often freeze during boot.
Read plenty of threads and checked-out everything possible with no avail. I desperately look for viable solution help to bring back my phone to right order.
I am sure this thread helps many of us with identical problem.
Thanks for ideas and clues! :good:
Cheers. M.

Any luck? Having the same problems.
Having the same problem.. External_SD card won't mount since i unlocked my bootloader, again.. NO S-Off yet. I have a custom ROM flashed via ADB Side Load... But as soon as i flashed the custom ROM, External_SD card was fine... Cuz my HTC One X won't mount either all of a sudden, and That phone's straight, no worries there... My device manager has the caution sign in portable devices... I wanna say it's my computer, but still could be my phone... I'm using TWRP recovery and i'm able to see what's on my SDCard through there, before that i had CWM and it didn't do ish for me... Any insight on this would be awesome..
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to fix a nexus one of a friend of mine, which has a major problem:it can't mount internal sd.
It was stuck in a bootloader, easily fixed by wiping data (except for sd, of course, as it can't be mounted and erased)
I tried flashing a different recovery (both can and twrp) , but it won't be able to format sd, i've tried to reflash stock recovery and formatting in bootloader menu, it looks OK but nothing changes, I can't sideload a new rom, wipe data skips sd formatting, and so on.
Is there anything I can still try, or is it likely a hardware issue?
Thanks for any help
Sent from my vivo X710L using XDA Free mobile app
Well, I "solved" the issue by simply purchasing a micro sd, which works now as internal storage...don't know why (proper internal storage looks gone).
Now for a quick tip: the phone belongs to a non-tech person, is it worth flashing something newer than CM7.2 which is on board now, or would the bugs be more than the enhancements?
In case it's worth trying something newer (and it must be something big , i need to look for and use old Pcs to make connection work, on my Win8 Pc it doesn't recognize device), which rom would you suggest?
Thank you
