[MOD] Camera during call and shutter sound on/off Enabled
Very easy mod to do just make sure your rooted and have root explorer on your phone.
Go to root explorer scroll down to system click on it scroll to CSC click on it now scroll down to Feature XML. Open it in text editor. Look for <CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>True</CscFeature change the text from false to true that will open the option in the camera so that you can turn the sound on and off. Now look for <CscFeature_Camera_EnableCameraDuringCall>True</CscFeature change the text from false to true. Take note to the pic below. Once you do that back out and save than reboot your phone and you're all set.
I love the 90s. Good times.

No problem and I appreciate you putting it out in the open. Good idea. Maybe you should turn it into a tips and tricks type of thread? See if we can't get more of these types of secrets to come out. As things are brought up and confirmed you can add them to a list in the OP for easy access.
Good stuff. Thanks fellas!
After saving my selection, it said something (I noticed at the last minute) about saving original text before I made the edits. Catch where that file is stored? Or I could be wrong (seeing things lol).

I tried the edit, it didn't work for me. I'm not new to modding but new to Samsung. I used ES to make the edit, file changed and everything but no camera sound toggle. What could I have done wrong?
I posted this in the picture thread but while in the camera app you can say "SHOOT" to snap a picture. That way you don't have to fumble with the camera button while holding the phone one handed.

You have to turn Voice Control on first in Settings. Then click to the left of the On/Off toggle where it says Voice Control and make sure the Camera selection is checked for this to work.

After you reboot, open the camera app and go to Settings. You should see the camera, video camera and another Settings icon. Click on the Settings icon, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see Shutter Sound. I just did it and it worked well for me. Thanks E for the post and craw for the mod. The camera hacks work. Re-verify the file was in fact edited and turn off and on completely.
Another note, there are settings for autocorrection in the SIP keyboard in the feature xml. But they dont do anything if changed except to enable the option in keyboard settings. Wonder if its disabled in the keyboard app itself.

I was just playing around with my Nexus 7 and I came across a neat and convenient trick to dispose of a app from the app drawer that you may have mistakenly selected and you only get three options uninstall, app info or simply drop the app on the home screen of your Nexus device. Well, there's a fourth option! Simply long press a app from your home screen or app drawer. Then, fling your finger that's holding down the app down up and release! That's it! From the home screen you don't have to take a app all of the way up to the white x remove then red release delete. From the bottom or where ever that app is on your screen you want to remove or replace, just press and hold the app you want to remove, fling your finger in motion down then up release and watch it fly away off of your screen! I think this only works with Jelly Bean, but this my friend is very convenient!

I can add another cool trick: slide up from the bottom of the screen where the 3 buttons are to bring up the Google search. Neat.

It shows a lockscreen-style circle for that. Kinda unnecessary, but cool. A quick swipe up from the home button works just as well.

There's an easter egg in the settings app. Go into "about tablet". Tap the version number many times. After that, press and hold the Jelly Bean.

If you have history, it will show more information cards.

Hi all. I'm normally not a big fan of starting threads, but because I'm sitting at work right now just wanting to play with my new phone, I might as well start a discussion.
So one of the coolest things about this phone for me so far are all the hand gestures. I know some of them are a little gimmicky, but there are also a couple of useful ones.
My favorites so far:
- Wake up your phone to show Time, missed calls or messages and battery by reaching towards your phone when asleep. Hint: If waving your hand towards the center doesn't initially wake it up, try bringing your open hand towards your sensor, then taking it away and then bringing your hand towards the sensor again. This feature will really come in handy in the middle of the night when I want to know what time it is.
- Take a screenshot by moving the side/palm of your hand across the screen. It's so much easier than trying to time the Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
What are your favorite gestures?
I thought we could use this thread for those who may need help figuring out these features as well. :good:
For some reason I cannot get my phone to switch tracks when I wave my hand. Do I have to be using the stock player for this to occur?

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm guessing that yes, it must be the stock player.
most of the hand gestures have been working on the note 2 for months now, so im not in awe of any...although the page scrolling sure seems like it might come in handy from time to time...

Lay your phone on a flat surface and with a flat hand reach towards the phone and then pull it back. Your blue notification light should quickly go on and then the screen will light up with the information.
I'm at work and can't access YouTube, but I think there's a video on it too. If you're still having trouble, I can try to link a video when I get home.

One of the more useful gestures, IMO, is the moving an app/widget to a different screen. To achieve it, hold an icon with your left thumb, wave your right hand over the sensors from the left to right or vice versa to change the screen.
these actually really come in handy for me when my hands are dirty. i do a lot of work on my cars and im not really a fan of getting grease all over the screen and these save me a lot of hassle. i never even thought i would use them at first.

That's the idea. Samsung did it intentionally for privacy reasons. A dev will probably do a work-around at some point, but I doubt Samsung ever will give us an option.
Aww yiss, creeper pics. I'd like to know too.
Ahhh I see. Thought I could go all secret agent on people and take their photo. I guess we just have to wait for a root and see if that helps.
Here is a simple temporary solution for you- Cover the speaker holes with your finger while taking a shot.
It mutes most of the sound, then.
wow you're right that does work. thanks a bunch. :good:

Most of the population understand a mobile phone can have a camera and when its been used. A watch, I think not. I fear we shall all start to pay for deviant-illegal-inappropriate-criminal behaviour by a few irresponsible owners. I can see the day looming when the crap will hit the fan regarding this device and its camera? Remember all things good have the balance of being abused for bad.
honestly, isnt it obvious looking, the way youd have to hold your arm and hand, etc. There are much cheaper, easier ways to achieve creeper status without an expensive nerdwatch

How do you do this. I am having trouble trying to put next in my watch but having trouble
This is not my app I had nothing to do with the development of this app. I simply found this a couple years ago and it used to work on my first RAZR and RAZR HD. So I figured what the hell let's try it. I'm on T-Mobile and have 2.5 gigs of wifi tether included in my account. I installed this and turned it on. And it works. I was and still am at 2.2 gigs used since I installed it and my son has been playing Forza Horizons thru XBox live on his 360. And the T-Mobile account app does not register any extra data used on the WiFi tether section. The Xbox even updated and the game did an update also.

Can you give us an account update using this app in a few days? Want to see if there is a T-Mobile system lag...if it works as unrestricted...,that would be awesome!

Yes requires root. And sure thing I'll keep you posted. One thing I have noticed is my sons tablet doesn't even see the hot spot in WiFi setup. Its a Google nextbook 7. I've got a Hi sense Sero pro 7 on 4.4.2 official KitKat GE. And it sees it and connects to it. Odd have no clue why.

Funny you should say that wase I just finished up rooting it finally (I have owned it for 8 days now jeez). Got my xposed going and the Dolby eq mod. Just triend an lg cam hack that worked beautifully but it must be outdated cuz it doesn't have uhd recording but man the pictures and videos it was taking make me wonder if it's not worth losing the fancy 4k shooting right now??

Installed perfectly pushing apks to system but that one feature was gone, I took pics in a room lit only by a tv and the hacked cam was actually visible, smooth, no stutter or blur. While the uhd kept trying to focus and if you read the mods op statement he upped all the fps and etcetera so that makes since. Hell I'm thinking bout going back to it now haha
so all you did was extract the camera.apk and put it in system, and change perms?
have you rebooted since, to make sure it still works?
That camera mod has a working ISO setting for the flex??

I didn't check that man sorry but it's a real easy mod to just try and then revert back if you don't like it

This part confuses me a little:
If you do not have a custom recovery on your device,
Extract the downloaded ZIP and copy the APK to phone.
Open Root Browser and go to system/app.
Find CameraApp.apk and CameraApp.odex and add a .bak extension to both of them.
Now copy the new CameraApp.apk to system/app folder. -
Here do we remove the .bak from the files we just copied over or leave it as is?

Press and hold CameraApp.apk and select Permissions from the list of options.
Now set the permission to rw-r–r– (0644). For more details, read this guide.
Then reboot the phone.
When your LG boots up, you would be able to use the modded camera app on your phone.
leave them as is, in case you need to restore them if the replacement files arent working properly for you
the new files will have the extensions .apk, and .odex when you copy them over

Thanks!
Has anyone tried the ISO setting yet? If it is like the G2 Pro like everyone says - that would be excellent!
Reverted back to the stock camera - i couldnt get the dual camera to work - it wouldn't take any pics in that mode

I tried the kk version they updated today because it had the und recording and it installed, then I rebooted, didn't show up so I read some more comments in the thread stating you needed the media.xml file that came with the cam zip....installed that rebooted and umm Bricked my freshly rooted setup phone lol. Took awhile to get it back to stock with that Damn lgflashtools!

I didn't have any issue just didn't stick with my laptop. carriers and manufactories have gotten smart. especially due to the amount of people that are modding their phones these days. just changing the "tether dun" or "tether provisioning". Now we have to deal with upsell URLs. That's when on their end they notice URLs coming thru our data that are not the same format/ signature that mobile devices use. and therefore our WiFi data usage may still increase. well there's a way around that too. It doesn't stick through boot either. But it will mask said URLs and prevent " up sell". From your phones dailpad dial 3845#*???# put in the 3 numbers of your variant. like mine is a d959 so I dial 3845#*959# once in the hidden service menu click settings then scroll down to "upsell URL" click it and select the option "TMUS hastetheringOPTIIN". AND DONT FORGET THE OTHER HACK CHANGing the 1 to a zero on the tethering in sqlite editor .
