Has anyone tried something like N.O.V.A. by gameloft and how was it? Looks good but im not sure if i want to buy it yet. Would really like a fuctioning BT controller first but im impatient lol
Dude, NOVA barely pushes the captivate to its potential. It runs full framerate, all the time, no lags. First-hand experience.
The iPhone 3gs can run it fine and we have a faster processor and twice the GPU and so does the droid.
i play that game. if you ever run into systox in multiplayer, beware!
lol yeah game looks delicious. i say its gonna be like a year b4 android apps start pushin this phone. especially with the overclock potential.
Thx for the feedback guys. Yeah I knew it would run great just wasnt sure if it was the game play was that great. I cant wait to see what games can take full advantage of our gfx. Ive read that its more than twice as fast as the 530 which I believe the 3gs has
All the gameloft games run super silky smooth. Although the games are super optimized for speed. The iPhone4 runs them just the same. I personally like the controls of NOVA better, but I like Sandstorm better as a game.
Under the whatever 3D test thats standard for these phones, it nearly doubles the rest of the phones on the market in FPS. Best part is that it seems to be quite damn efficient at it too!
How do you guys get N.O.V.A.?? I don't see it in the market.

Thanks, I checked the website, but the browser doesn't let me see the full site....just some wapshop version of it. Anyway around this??
Yeah you have to view the gameloft website on a desktop/laptop. Not from the phone. Although you may have luck browsing the site from dolphin broswer hd, just change the default.mode from android to desktop in settings. Also when you buy the game, you can either buy the snapdragon version or the droid version. I've heard the snapdragon(evo, incredible) versions are crippled in graphics compared to the droid version.

It is a decent game and pretty fun. Controls are intuitive. Only complaint is that the monsters are too easy to kill even on hard.
Guess i need to go ahead and root my phone. They have the compatability for the vibrant listed on their site so its non-sense that they dont have it for the captivate
I'm guessing none of you guys purchased the game in order to try it out, especially considering the Gameloft website doesn't yet have AT&T listed for purchase of the game, much less the Captivate itself.
Why they don't support credit purchases is beyond me.
+1 I cant find them in the market?
As already stated in the thread, see the GameLoft websitegameloft.com/android-games/nova/?adid=101966
I checked the site out, when I go to buy it which carrier should I select? It only lists t-mo, vzw and sprint.
I bought NOVA and Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft, I picked tmobile and I9000 for the phone and gave it my number, and it plays both flawlessly, and looks great.
the thing with gameloft is interesting.
For example, Asphalt5 ...it works awesome on our phones but only up to version 3.1.3...any version after that and it is like is no longer using hardware mode...just not as smooth like running software mode.
I contacted them and they are going to "look" into it.
Good thing is that I got my refund immediately after I uninstall the program from google so thats cool but I do want to pay for the game though.
i have most of the gameloft games on my captivate and so far I'm very impressed they work great so far the games I have been playing a lot are hawx, dugeon hunter and N.O.V.A its crazy how far cell phone gaming has come....ps1 graphics on a cell phone
What are some good games Aria ppl are trying? I know its small screen will deter some from playing games but it can handle alot.
I've been playing the Sims 3 for a while but I think there are some better graphic ones that it could do as well. The emulators are retro but has anyone tried psx4droid? Id like some feedback on that. MT3GS ppl say some psx games are laggy!

yea, unfortunately... the bluetooth stack used in our phones are not compatible with the wiimote. So unless that changes, you're not going to have any luck using that particular remote.

Not true. I have hooked up my wiimote to play game boy advance games.
Things you will need:
1. Rooted phone.
2. CyanogenMod rom. Nothing with HTC Sense. Again if you are using Stock, Stock w/Root, or Liberated Stock it will not work.
3. Goto market, download "Wiimote Controller" by C.C.P. [email protected]
4. Follow Setup on the app. It will set up as another keyboard. Only useful for a handful of other apps, but like I said I use it for GBA
thanks for replying, i've been trying to find out if the cyanogen rom made changes to the bluetooth stack. Asked it twice and no resonce in that thread. Figures that I'd get an answer here lol.
This is good to know that it works when i make the switch from liberated to cyanogen

Thanks. It is awesome. I'm gonna try Gameboid later and see if I can get Advance Wars for it.
Guns 'n' Glory FREE is a great tower defense like game with a Western cowboys and indians twist. even the free version is hard enough to keep anyone entertained for a good while.
I like the games My Paper Plane 2, and Home run Battle 3D... The touch screen controls on the aria such too much for proper emulator gaming

Since not many people talked about the emulators, I guess I shall write a bit.
So I've been playing around with the emulators for the past week or so. I have the SNESoid, Gameboid, and PSX4droid emulators. Anyway first the SNES emulator. For the most part, games play pretty well. There is some occasional slowdown but not much. There is a bit lag though on games that use the SA-I processor (mario rpg and kirby super star). Sound on a few games are a little choppy but for the most part, it's decent. Just have to tinker with the settings. Games like super mario world (i have all stars) plays very well. Chrono trigger plays nicely too. I have close to 20 roms right now.
Next is the Gameboid emulator. I have a few roms for the gba emulator (FFI and FFII, and a gundam game, have tried a few others but decided to delete them lol..). I must say, the gba emulator runs the best. It's seems like the Aria hardware was made to play gba games lol. There's no lag whatsoever and the sound is great! I find it ironic because the gba had better hardware than the snes so you would think the snes roms would play better. I think later I'll try more roms like advanced wars or something.
Last is the PSX4droid emulator. Well let's just say it can play the games. First game I tried was chocobo racing. It was a little slow and the sound was bad. Then I tried digimon world 3. The game played well but a little slow and the sound was also bad lol. I'm going to try brave fencer musashi and warcraft II next. Both are currently being downloaded.
Oh btw...I suppose it would make a difference but during my gaming, I only had around 30-40mb of ram. Maybe I should've killed the other apps to gain more memory. I suppose it would run a bit better?
Angry birds beta is the funnest game i've played on the aria yet!

Good review, I've only tried snesoid thus far. Super mario rpg did see a bit of a speed up for me when I switched to cyanogen. I think I still had to set it to skip a 4 frame max though. The audio was fairly bearable then.

Looking for an NFL app thats pretty full featured. Maybe live games or even a sort of taped viewing or dvr thing. Also looking for the BEST emulators, mostly Super Nintendo...back in the day, I would use zsnes(?) or snes9.
Which are the most highly recommended? And anyone have a good resource for things to make the emulator work? Thanks

You can find emulators there. They have a market like app you can use. Many devs that got booted or left google's market went over there. IMO, emulators by yongzh are pretty damn good. You have to get the app for it, I forgot specifically which one (in regular market) worked with the nexus s and the wii controllers with yongzh's emus. Nothin like some super mario world or donkey kong with a wii controller and the classic controller tethered to it. I don't think yongzh's apps are free but they will work and are worth the money if you're into some old school gaming.
thanks

All the android emulators are pretty much straight up ports of pc emulators.
So whatever limitations those have, these have.
Is it a touchscreen issue? I've been wanting to get a bluetooth gamepad but haven't gotten around to it.
I noticed the only app of his he's charging for is n64oid. All the rest are free for now. I really don't like on-screen controls because they take away from the experience but what can you do? Either a Wii mote controller or a phone with a slide out keyboard are good to use with emulators.
Hard time running and jumping...any kind of button combo.
Someone wanna elaborate on this Wii mote thing or another control method? Thanks.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G via XDA Premium
I forget the name of the app. It's one of the free ones. Search the market for wii or wiimote or wii bluetooth. I think the one that works, you need to go to the dev's website to see how to set it up and get it running. He has the info to get it running with snesoid. It won't work with touchwiz but it works with the nexus s.
Long story short, get the app. Get a wii-mote and also getting the plug in classic controller extension makes things MUCH better if you're used to the old style controllers. Plug the classic into the wii-mote and turn it on into pairing mode and turn on bluetooth on the phone. Fire up the wii-mote app on the phone and connect to it as per the instructions on the developers website. After making sure it's paired and on, start up snesoid and go into controls and start mapping the buttons for what is available on the classic controller. I did the wii-mote controller at first but there just isn't the right amount of buttons in the right places to play any super mario worth a damn. After the buttons are mapped, start the game and you're good to go.
Too bad it won't work with touchwiz, maybe a different emulator might, because it would be better for me playing it on my galaxy tab versus the small screen on the phone.
Go read the instructions. It might be a little fussy at first to get everything set up but it's worth it after you get the hang of it.
I just looked up the app. It's called Wiimote Controller

I do not believe even for a second that there would exist a fully-functioning PS2 emulator for Android devices. A Core 2 Duo can't run any PS2 games playably, there's no way a mobile device with ARM-processor would either.
Reviews either suck or sing it's praises? Sounds like developer and co giving good ratings and actual users giving actual ratings?
EDIT: Ah, just checked. Developer website down, everything just reeks of fraud.
Tbh, I do not understand people who even ask these kinds of things. Where's your common sense? How could a mobile device with a fraction of a proper PC's performance run a PS2 emulator when PC's themselves are struggling with that?

Don't question my common sense asshat. Android phones lower end than the note run an n64 emulator and also at one point were running a friggin dreamcast emulator so don't tell me what is and isn't possible on high end phones by great developers unless you are a great developer yourself

I wasn't comparing an n64 and a ps2 great android developers that you are. I was making a point that if a low end cheap phone could run a n64 and dreamcast emulator that was said not to be able to by know it all great ones like y'all then a high end phone could possibly run a ps2 one. There has been tons of things done on android that "was not possible" according to geniuses like you that has been done. You tards get off my thread, you are not helping nor contributing any help. What's it with all these xda kid trolls taking over :banghead:
From the Beast : Galaxy Note
While probable, it is highly unlikely that a PS2 emulator is even possible even with the right software and development. It is just too taxing of an emulation. My high end desktop can run certain games great but then struggles to render other games. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice though, I've been wanting to play some PS2 rpgs on the go for a very long time.

It seems it was pulled off the market now. It was looking fishy with the review disparities and website down too

Listen, I don't know what your problem is, but use your head and stop thinking that since you're on the internet you can act like a badass. The fact is, the Nintendo DS emulator runs like ****. N64oid also only plays a handful of first-party titles. Hell I bet your computer that you're on right now can't even emulate PS2 well.
The Note doesn't even play n64 games better than a single core. The same graphical glitches are present.
A ps2 emulator is NOT realistic, and you aren't even contributing to your own thread by saying "stfu" at every corner.

That's the same thing I said on the previous page: there is no way a current-gen ARM-device could run PS2 games at full speed. The Exynos/Snapdragon chips used in our Notes cannot compete with even just one core of a Core2Duo let alone both cores, and yet my previous PC was a Core2Duo+HD3770 and it still couldn't run PS2 games playably.
But the OP acts like a spoiled little brat and keeps telling people to shut up when told about that. Not terribly constructive behaviour, let alone mature.

So you consider "working" to play at 3fps and load three games? Yongzh is a stand up guy but that doesn't make the Nintendo DS emulator work any better or a ps2 emulator more feasible.

Hello there! Despite what you may want to believe, you are still using an emulator! Emulators aren't perfect, and you may not be able to play all games properly! Hell, I myself had issues with Zelda when I tried it on my PC a few years back!
If you want the perfect emulator for N64 that can play all the games that you throw at it, then walk into a store and ask for an N64. That's your best bet.
