Is it ture the the MT3G Fender has a new music .apk and if so can some one post it up...?
I have the Fender Mytouch coming in the mail. its the first android device i'll have ever used so i dont know how to extract files from it. if its anything like WinMo, im sure i can figure it out, but in case i can't it would be great if someone to give me a quick tutorial.
I want to get everything i can off this new phone and get it up here.
It's nothing like winmo,I had a touch hd and when I changed to magic I bricked it cos I thought it was like win mo. Android will let u flash the wrong thing thus bricking.
Read up like mad and make sure you quadruple check everything! But you will love android!
I downloaded it from one of the devs on twitter... it wont install on any rom i have tried though so it seems useless
could always ask a dev to work theyre magic? they managed to port hero keyboard for us by removing some stuff?
Any news on this?
i wasnt able to firgure out how to do it. if it means anything, though, i dont even use the default music app. its a little slow and kinda bland looking. meridian is better.
Hi there, so I currently have an HTC hero, but I also am currently learning to drive. I am aware that I am able to sell my hero for around £160 and purchase a decent dream for around £90. However, I am wondering, as I have all my apps on my Hero, would it be possible to do a Titanium Backup on the Hero, and reinstall that backup on a dream (obviously both rooted)
Furthermore, do you guys recommend I do this, as I know the Hero has more ram, but is it THAT much of a difference?
Thanks
Tucka
please could anyone help with my problem? looking at purchasing g1 but will need to know this first
thanks

.apk's are .apk's... assuming the application it's self is compatable with the dream it will work.... id reccomend using ADB to drag the apk's out manually then reinstall via adb on your new phone. not only will you have a copy of the .apk's if you screw up, and you might learn a little about android in the process... all paid app's are linked to you google account and should be re-dl'ed from the market as some paid apps balk at manual installs...
however for your other question, there is a pretty big difference in the snappieness of the phone between the hero and 32b, if your network is compatable with the 32a rev then you may not be too disappointed....
i love my G1 but as soon as a keyboard HTC android phone with a 1Ghz + processor thats compatable with T-mo 3g rears its head, my G1 will find its self in a backup/dev phone role....
i must say, the attractiveness of the physical keyboard is one that is bringing me back to the g1, as well as the save in money. As i believe i am aware(correct me if im wrong) the g1 can be overclocked to 528mhz. This is the speed that the hero runs at and, with the addition of the swap file, will this even the two phones out slightly. Please note i will be using a2sd so storage space will not be a problem.
Thanks for the info, ans i am happy that titanium will work fine
mmmm me likes http://techtickerblog.com/2010/05/24/htc-vision-will-sport-physical-qwerty-keyboard-android-os/

All im looking to do is get rid of the bloat apps that the X comes with. Even if we cant have custom roms, can this still be done? Im coming from an Omnia and i know the only way to get rid of the useless stuff was to flash. Does this work the same way with Android?
Yes Yes i have never had a Android phone before. Very excited about making the switch once the X is released
You will need root access and then use adb to remove apps.
Custom Rom on Motorola Milestone
How to load a custom ROM on your motorola milestone via the unlockr site on youtube was posted yesterday by sjones765, so there's still hope for us. I'm not allowed to paste links so this was the best I could do.

Well that's definitely good news... looking for it now...
*edit*
That's not what you're looking for. That's just about Nandroid backups - not ROMs. Nandroid backups are just a backup of your System, Data, etc. It lets you manipulate your current system but not flashing a ROM built from the source. (No update.zip's)
A noob on Android
Thnx for the edification Adam , went back to the unlockr and they said it was only for unlocked GSM phones. Thought maybe it was something we could use . Have a HD2 myself and with these forums help I've turned into a flashing junkie, easy with WinMo. I got alot more to learn.
I would also like to know if we can tweak the rom that Motorola gives us with the phone and then put it bake on with the proper signature...would this be possible???
No, not without some kind soul at Motorola giving us their key.
What particular do you wish to remove?
NFS shift can be removed.
Amazon mp3, Blockbuster, and City ID can't be easily removed.
I think I will just keep Skype Mobile.
To be honest, and this is my first android phone, there doesn't seem to be much bloat. I've pretty much ignored all of the motorola stuff and deleted all of the supplied widgets, replacing them with android ones. The only other stuff on there is a few apps. There isn't even any verizon stuff preinstalled, thank jebus.
I like City ID (very handy), and Skype mobile is useful sometimes. The blockbuster and amazon mp3 apps don't hurt me.

Yeah, I kind of agree. Outside of CityID, there's nothing I really hate and want to get rid of. Will I ever use Blockbuster or Amazon MP3 store? Probably not, but it doesn't really hurt me to see them on my app list.
How does one remove City ID? I couldn't find a way to do it.

You can't remove Blockbuster, City ID, and Amazon mp3 without root.

You can't root droid x's yet.

City ID keeps popping up and asking me if I want to pay for it. I'd like to remove it, but don't see an option for that.
Is that even legal for them to install an extortionist virus on our phones without any way of removal?
I'd rather pay the dev who gets root on this phone.
Here's $10 to anyone who roots the Droid X.
That City ID app is totally uncalled for. But I always expect carriers to put garbage on phones.

Yeah you can't remove them yet, until we get root. I tried doing it with Astro, but it wouldn't let me.
I just demo'd one today at Verizon. There is sooooo much **** on there that I absolutely do NOT want on there. Why did they go so overboard with the UI? The DROID's is pretty vanilla. But damn if the X isn't too much for me..

Yeah. There really isn't that much **** on there...

Any way Road SMS could be ported to the Eris? It seems to be a Samsung Galaxy-only .apk right now. I'm not aware of whether it is a processor heavy app but it looked interesting when I read the article.

That would be awesome.I would definitely want this lol
looks pretty cool, but i don't think its something i would actually use... im not usually texting and walking at the same time and if i am im aware enough of my surroundings not to run into anything ... still would be cool if someone could port it over
Ultra Keyboard has it. I use it all the time in the mall so I don't run into people when I text. baha
Have you tried installing the apk OP? I've tried it before but didnt like it that much
I wonder if the apk I used on my Dinc will work in my wifes eris. I tried road sms. It was ok. It would be sick if they can somehow combine it with swype though.

edit again: found a modded version in another thread
for anyone confused by the .apk.zip
i downloaded it in astro, unzipped it to a new directory i named roadsms.apk and installed
i have it on my hero and its SOOOOO laggy and inputing a contact is LAME.
good idea though.
poor execution.
I recently installed a custom ROM, and that means that the stock Bell self serve app got deleted. I tried downloading it from the market but this app is different and rarely works. The one that came with my phone was much better.
Is there an .apk of it anywhere?
For reference, this is what it looks like.
I have the same problem, except the one on android market says it's incompatible with my SGS2, so I'm looking for the apk. If anyone can point me into the right direction, it'd much appreciated. Thanks.
