A regular Developer Unlock through Microsoft's Dev Center using the official SDK does not void the warranty.

I am sure it will be possible, you know how great the devs are. This is a new device so give it sometime. You should follow that thread as the OP
keeps it up to date. I am planning to unlock it because of the ugly UI by Sony plus for Cyanogenmod.

SOAK TEST

Hello everyone
So first of all I wanted to inform you that they are not an expert ..
Then we move to the "problem":
I installed the soak test out yesterday.. -> [5.0.2] [OFFICIAL] [XT1068] Lollipop Indian OTA Captured <-
So I have not registered on the site to become a tester, and hope to be approved..but by the news yesterday I downloaded the soak test of 'os, I put on internal memory and I did look for updates and exited.
I installed it and that's fine, but my concern is:
I have invalidated the warranty?
i Receive all future ota smoothly as if I had not done anything?
sorry if I do not write well, but are not English.
Hey @djblankino ,
If you unlocked the bootloader then your Warranty is void.
You'll recieve all future updates if you do not modify the ROM in any way, i.e.. Rooting, Custom Recovery etc..
Hope this answers your doubts.

thanks a lot I've calmed much.
Do not think I've unlocked the bootloader because I only put the zip in memory and updated via ota.

Your warranty is with Amazon, not Motorola. EU law allows you unlock the bootloader and change the software on your device without voiding the warranty. If Amazon refused to accept the return of phone with a hardware fault in the EU, they would be breaking the law. Ignore KrishnaSagar's post; your warranty is still valid.

[Q] Is there a Moto X 2014 developer edition?

I can't find any on the motorola website and the landing page that I found by using google takes me to a support page.
http://www.motorola.com/us/Moto-X/ways-to-buy.html
Did they ever have the developer edition option for the 2014 edition?

Unlike the earlier developer edition, you would lose warranty on the pure edition if you request a bootloader unlock, so it is unfortunate that Motorola didn't offer a deveoper edition this time.

100% false. It was confirmed by Moto on their forums that the pure edition would be treated like a developer edition and would not void the warranty if you unlocked the bootloader.

Thanks for the tip! Here is a thread that confirms what you said: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/unlocking-bootloader-moto-x-pure-t3004779
Fine, but unlocking bootloader alone makes no sense if u no root. And rooting void your warranty, am i right?
... You do realize you can remove root easily... Or even restore back to stock with the bootloader unlocked right?
And no, root does not void the warranty.
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
Good to hear such of information.
I sent a developer edition back with a custom ROM on it and the warranty was still valid. I wanted to put all these non sense claims to the test about people stating you'd void your warranty. It only voids the warranty if they can prove thats what made the device go faulty. If its a hardware failure, like screen dying, or wifi glitching out or some other crazy thing, software won't cause that under most circumstances.
Of course, if your in india though, they will void your warranty upon unlocking the bootloader for some stupid reason.
please go and see another answer form motorola chat

[Q] Will restock&relock my Moto X return my warranty back?

Hi guys, just a quick question.
With Nexus devices, if you flash a factory image then you relock the bootloader them return in warranty.
How does it work on Motorola? The same? Or there is a sort of "counter" which shows that the bootloader was previously unlocked (as HTC's "Relocked" voice in bl)? And if yes, is there a way to hide or "reset" it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.

If you have the XT1095 it doesn't matter either way. Locked or unlock will not affect your warranty
It will sat that it was relocked.

XT1092 is non-US PureEdition. So same should apply I would think!
XT1092 is Pure Edition? Oh, so unlocking my bootloader won't affect my warranty?

As far as my knowledge goes, the XT1092 is the European Pure Edition which means you'll still have warranty after setting everything back to stock. A European law even forces Companies to give you warranty if the issue is hardware related and not caused by your software change.
Hey fellows!
I just got the the Moto X XT1097, its possible to root whitout unlock?
Cheers

That's what a Motorola agent answered to me (It's Italian):
He said that the bootloader unlock voids the warranty, BUT restocking should give me back it. ?

So does US law in many states.
Now a poster on another forum claims it is a federal law, and when I looked up the statute he was referencing I did not see that in the statute. I asked him to clarify but he never did.
I could have missed it when I scanned through the federal statute, but again, I didn't see it in the federal statute. However, as I said, many states have laws that can be invoked if the manufacturer tries to do a blanket warranty void and the issue you are having is not related to whatever you did that the manufacturer says killed your warranty.

How to Unlock the Bootloader?

So far, Nokia doesn't support unlocking of 7 Plus.
This has proven to be one of the best, unofficial, methods so far. I'm not trying to endorse or anything but i've successfully unlocked my N7P without any problems. Granted you need to pay for the service.
Not sure if i can post links here but google techmesto nokia after august and you are good to go.
