Hello Guys
I have a Big Problem with my Auto Rotating. In Updates like ICS or JB, i dont have any Problems with it. But as instal Cyanogenmod, auto rotating works a long time not. Only in Update CM 27 it works for a short time. I dont understand it. But another German User have exactly the same problem. That is, why i think it's NOT a Hardware bug. Is there an Driver Problem with it? Now go back to ICS and it dont works too Very poor.. Thank you for Help and Sorry for my English...
btw: before i forgot, the calibrating tool for auto rotating, works also not.
When you on Cyanonmod 10.1 go in the Display Settings and then in the Rotation Settings and tick 0,90,180,270 on.
Maybe you forgot this settings.

noled would work but drain the battery as 2X does not have amoled and thus does use full power lighting the screen. there was a post on the forum already.

NoLED works very bad on o2x due to LCD... doesn't look good at all and drains battery
damn then I'm out of options :/ damn those who don't use any form of LED notification...
Someone get this working!! Possibly with no flashing..on the future G2X?
maybe we can use the backlight of the capacitive buttons instead?
I second that
I was thinking the same, i rather want a nice little touch button SHOW, I was thinking that some blinking would b nice.
But I read somewhere on the forum, that we need the source code and something else to be able to control the led in the buttons.
think you need a kernel tweak to change the lights on the buttons like the galaxy kernel mod ..
NoLED is for amoled screens and not standard LCD
Missed Message Flasher, when set to flashing less than every 250ms, flashes the buttons and not the screen on the LG Optimus S/T/V/One. So, this is a step in the right direction - and it doesn't require root or flashing new kernels.

Doesn't work. Says it needs a different kernel

Hi!
I'm new in this Forum and want to thank all you for your helpful posts!
I searched a lot, but I didn't find any solution for this problem (which seems to irritate also other users):
After upgrading to Android 2.2.1, 'Auto Brightness' does not work anymore. The problem is, that the Display gets brighter in the sun, but it does not reduce brightness in shade - which is very battery intense and irritating while driving in tunnels.
What I did so far:
+ checked and unchecked the 'Auto Brightness' setting many times ;-)
+ used widgets like 'extended controls' in the hope their settings will overwrite the problematic system-settings
+ was searching for the app "Auto Brightness" (SIMMO Publications) - which might be able to overwrite system settings. But downloading this app is not available for me (maybe because of country restrictions)
+ I rooted the phone - also for other reasons. With root I hope I can also reduce the minimum brightness level of 'Auto Brightness', which would be helpful using it as an alarmclock next to the bed.
Does anybody have an idea?
Best wishes from Austria!
No ideas to the Auto-Brightness Problem? People from Android-Pit-Forum didn't find a solution. So I changed to the forum with the best reputation ....XDA.. ;-)
It seems, that the light-sensor works well... because the button-light goes on and off according to the surrounding light intensity ...
Any idea or hint?
that's not a bug, that's a feature!
anyway - CM7 has the option just like you ask for - auto adjusting brightness to lower setting. there are also hysteresis options so you can prevent the brigtness going up and down all the time.

This feature sounds great ... but I feel not ready to install CM7. All in all I am happy with my system right now. I learnded in the last two Android-years, that big changes for solving small problems can cause even more problems and time-intense problem solving actions... especially for me as a beginner.
So, does anybody know about a root-app or a module (eg. out of CM7) just for solving this auto brightness bug/feature ;-) ?
It would be very helpfull for me and others ...
this feature is in
Settings > CM Extra > Display > Automatic backlight > "Allow light decrease"
I wanted to tell you just so you can ask someone else about this exact feature, maybe the "CM Extra" can be installed as stand-alone app? Dunno, try to ask in CM7 thread.

Hi!
Unfortunately I am not allowed to post into the developement-forum...
Senior User 'MuF123' informed me, that CM7 has this feature, which I miss a lot (Settings > CM Extra > Display > Automatic backlight > "Allow light decrease").
My questions:
Can the app "CM Extra" be installed as stand-alone app in my rooted Milestone with Froyo 2.2.1?
Or is there another solution for me?
Not possible. Its integrated to the framework.

No matter what i do, i cannot get screen/auto rotation to work properly on any ICS rom. It will stay portrait mode no matter what. Auto-rotation works fine on any Froyo/Gingerbread rom i use. Flashed every ICS rom available. I've tried the following:
1. Turning on auto-rotation in Settings>Display
2. Toggling auto-rotate in Settings>Display while the phone is turned landscape
3. Toggling notification widget orientation icon
4. Reflashing/Wiping everything/flashing and wiping (don't get me started)
The only app that actually rotates for me is Camera.
Accelerometer Values app from market tells me everything is fine.
wow dude i don't really know what to say. I did try team icssgs's RC3.1 a while back and everything worked great. Actually, i can even say i was rather impressed on how ICS handled screen rotation. Had that turning iphone-like effect and worked every single time perfectly, no matter what i was running, as long as it was enabled on settings.
Any chance you might have some app interfering with screen rotation? like some toggle widget or something?
Wish you good luck mate

Lol, I'm very doubtful that my solution will work, but if you're desperate enough you can try and who knows, I might win 50 bucks
First answer me this: On your last Gingerbread Rom, you had the ability to turn off all animations in the Settings -> Display menu.
Did you turn off all animations?? If yes, read my solution. If no, stop reading here
So, you answered yes. Here's my proposal:
1. Flash a Gingerbread ROM again. Turn ON all animations.
2. Flash your desired ICS ROM

on gingerbread, i would always turn on all animations
but that wouldnt do anything since flashing a new rom wipes everything
What launcher are u using?
Howdy!
On ICSSGS 4.2 and Semaphore 9.0 the turning works fine for me. That is in apps that support it. The launcher for instance doesnt - the clock does.
You could try installing the ES Task Manager and check whether the turning is on there. Also you could check appropriate apps for your Kernel/Rom -- sometimes you can turn stuff on and off there, as well.

I'm on THS Experimental Build, but Build 16 should be the same.
1. You didn't mention this, but Settings > Launcher > General > Auto-Rotate Screen
This is using Trebuchet Launcher, but it should be similar on any other ICS Launcher, under the Settings "Interface" list.

Likely its because of the changes in windoworientationlistener.Java its been changed to absolute values so now you have rotation_angles instead of rotation_mode where sensor libs would return 2 3 4 5 depending on degrees 0 90 180 270 now it looks for actual degrees rotationinstead of numbered modes
try ics slim. Settings -ASS - General UI - set rotation delay. and ofcourse set on the rotation.

I wish I had tried some games... all I can say for certain is that it works in the camera app and sensor test apps like GPS Status. So it seems like it comes down to the system UI not interpreting the sensor readings correctly.

I suggest you try it out with some games too.. coz if it's a rom issue, it can't be with every rom..
Even the games don't directly access the accelerometer.. Goes through the kernel which controls the hardware.. If it works in games, should work in the roms which have accelerometer working fine..
This annoyed me for a while... It worked fine on THS ROM with Trebuchet launcher. I switched to AOKP, and couldn't get it to work, tried a few others that all failed. After a couple of months, I'm back to CM9 on nightlies (with Semaphore 1.2.0) and rotation works perfectly, couldn't be happier.
Maybe try CM9?

Confirmed the accelerometer DOES work in games.
So it works in the camera and 3rd party apps like sensor tests and games. Does not work in any launcher, the stock browser, gallery, or other system apps.
Also tried the the latest Team Nyx release - not working there either. I've tried the latest CM9, ICS333, AOKP... it doesn't work in any of them.
Hello everybody!
I flashed some days ago the latest version of the Gueste2X ROM (v3.2), and it works great!
Btw, autobrightness it's not that good for me, I would like to edit the various level to fit it to my preferences; I read on Cyanogenmod's forums that in Menu-> Settings-> Cyanogenmod Settings-> Display there should be a config menu where you can edit these levels, but it's not present in my ROM.
Is it possible to edit the framework-res.apk to adjust levels as I want? I read something about it in this forum too, but I would like to know if someone of you did that yet.
Thanks you in advance!
Use the "Touch Brightness" application included in this rom.
Also: CM Settings -> Interface -> LED Notifications
Hello, thanks for your reply.
Seems you are referring to the softkey button, which brightness it's ok for me; i was referring to the LCD backlight. Is it possible to change its brightness, even editing the framework apk?
Thanks again!

I am not quite sure. But i think this is not possible on the o2x, coz of some driver issues
its possible, but not with the stock light sensor, but use the front camera light sensor its possible.
try the 'Lux Auto Brightness' app from the market.
Hey Vadonka, I've got Lux Auto Brightness installed on my Optimus 2X running CM7 (temasek-100) with your 3.x Kernel but I can't seem to get Lux to read any of my sensors right?
Maybe I'm using the wrong settings but I find Lux Auto-Brightness to be completely useless for this phone, it always reads "lux" as 20, or "luma" as 255?
Do you have it working properly on yours?
