I skipped ICS because it was very laggy, but this ROM is great!
I'm just having a couple of problems and questions about it.
Tethering turns itself off right after turning it on. I've tried a 3rd party application but the problem persists.
Notification's volume are low after changing sound to vibrate, silent and back to normal. No matter if sound settings are crancked all the way up.
I know that the camera is glitchy but I just wonder if there is ever going to be a solution for this.
I executed the A2SD command, but I'm not sure of what it does, how it works and how to check if it's working. I used Link2SD with my previous rom.
Just in case, before installing this rom I did a full wipe.
I use wired thetering with the app in that thread and works great.
Camera - hopefully some day.
A2SD moves dalvik cache to SD card optionaly you can move even application data but it can slower your phone.
a2sd install found block device: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Hi at all.
I just install this ROM but I've an issue with a2sd.
When I try to execute this script, the result is:
Code:
a2sd install found block device: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
I've looked everywhere but nothing that I tried worked.
Anyone can help me?

Have you tried using S2E? It works great for moving dalvik and apps to the sd-ext. It's also very simple to use.
No i didn't try it. I'll try it soon.

Yes, I used the .zip version, but maybe I've solve the issue using mounts2sd.

I tried M2SD which I think is the best one,but it seems there's a prob with the script...
though this rom is the most smooth one,but it reboots quite a time....
Nothing to do. Even mounts2sd fails to resolve the memory issue.
Well not really.
I used the reverse mode which is the only mode that i can boot up the phone.
No problem with External Data and Cache Data, and if I go into settings --> memory, the phone rightly shows 2GB of internal memory (as well as the partition on microSD card), but into the app the Internal Data remains limitated to 136MB, so I can't install so many apps (in my case 5 apps).

I have used this successfully on VJ's CM10.1 before. Takes a bit of setup in the app though. It'll give you a missing swap error when you first reboot, which you can ignore.
Thanks, but this is the app I was talking about in my last post (and it doesn't resolve the issue).
I thought M2SD was a different application than mounts2sd.

I've attached an older version of m2sd which I've used till recently. I use a2sd now as m2sd was a little slow for me. Here's what you do:
a) Flash this zip as soon as you flash the ROM ( After the first boot ofcourse ) . Do not flash it after installing all the apps, etc. You may not get the desired results.
b) I'd recommend installing apps directly from Play Store and not from any backup app.
c) After flashing,in the mounts2sd app, you will see the data displayed as your sd-ext size. If you goto phone memory, you will see a big integer (in negative). Don't worry about it.
Install apps now.
Thank you sphinxcs898. I'll try soon this version and I'll let you know the result.

I've ignored it and I went on with Y Y Y. At the reboot I've tried

Now I try to reinstall (trought Play Store) all the apps I need.
I hope the problem is resolved.

Every app has to be updated by the author. No way around it.
If your rooted you can just switch the toggle to 2 and all the apps can be moved over to sd and new apps install there by defaut. I'm not a real app whore having maybe 50 more or less but still, they are every last one on the sd.
No problem thankyou. Just making sure I was not doing anything wrong with it lol.

Try searching im almost positive that there is a tut on it but, You need to install the Android SDK and create a connection to your device with the sdk.
You can then run the ADB command from terminal(mac OSX) or CMD(windows)

anyone else having this problem?
i installed the ota from .zip directly over cyanogen 5.0.6 no wipe
sdcard is formatted fat32/ext3/swap

Is there an easy way to find out which of the currently installed apps have been updated to support FroYo's apps2sd?
There has to be a better way than to open Manage applications, sort by size and then click on on each app..

There's a free app on the market called "App 2 SD", it shows all apps that can be moved and moves them for you (that should be all of them
Visit this link from your phone or use Chrome-to-phone if you used the shell command above) if you're cool like that:
App2SD
[EDIT] Having the App 2 SD app running after using the command above will crash the apps!

It's because it cant fit in the system partition. Quentin himself made a little guide, how to make a bootable zip from the new nightlies. HERE it is. I deleted the Live Wallpapers and some other stuff i would disable anyway.

Yes, the newest nightly doesnt have live wallpapers by default. You have to delete some other stuffs.
Ringtones, some fonts are safe to delete. (and those asian fonts eats up at least 8Mb...)
I can't make it work too. I tried to delete some stuff, but I don't know what is safe to delete or not.
I don't need Live Wallpapers and so on, but the apk isn't in the zip file anymore.

Try booting ROM form that post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32403158#post32403158
Its already prepared for booting. Before that you better wipe all user data and cache - it should work after that

Edit: Works after a restart, but now it tells me every minute that text-to-speech has crashed. >.<
CM10 boot issue with latest nightly
Greetings all, I am new to this forum so bear with me
I have just tried out the latest rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
(I am currently running CM9)
It boots to a blank screen with just the bar at the top, which seems to work, but no home screen to be seen :crying:
I understand there won't be a wallpaper, but I should see icons, right?
I have cleaned all the caches and reset to factory before installing, but nothing ..
I do not have the /data partition though, is that necessary?
Thanks,
B.
You should have wallpaper, only the live wallpapers were deleted by default.
I guess, the problem is your /data partition. It's necessary to wipe it if you upgrade your rom. Wiping it should solve your problem.
Well, after some restarts it's working. But Angry Birds isn't running and World of Goo is lagging. Isn't the great project butter working?

Hmm, I don't have a /data partition yet ... I guess that is the problem.
Question: If I create a new SD card with a FAT32 partition at the start and an EXT3 at the end, can I just copy my phone SD card contents
including hidden files to the FAT32 partition, put it in the phone and all will be good?
I am guessing that the OS will find the partition and create a mount point for it and that I don't have to do that, right?
Thanks,
B.

Project Butter improves the reactiveness of the UI and increases the framerate.
But the reason for games not working is a lack of RAM (in 90% of the cases).
To circumvent this you need to use a kernel that supports zRAM and/or swap.

So I created the card with the new partition and it works fine with my CM9 backup from nandroid.
When I try to install CM10 I deleted all the caches, factory reset etc and installed CM10.
When it eventually booted to the setup wizard, I enter all the information and it says it is complete, but then on exit the wizard dies and I am left with the status bar and a black screen ..
I tried re-booting, but it won't boot until I go and delete the caches etc again ..
What's wrong?:crying:
Did you wipe everything from recovery? Because doing a Factory Reset might not be enough.

What does "Did you wipe everything from recovery" mean? If you mean did I execute all of the three menu options in recovery, then yes I did that.
However, I do have it going now ... but only after many resets .. and I got stuck on the setup app crashing ..
I am using it and have found it a bit flakey .. slows down at times and the keyboard goes away sometimes, I have to use the hard keyboard.
EDIT: Found the reason for that was voice typing was on for some reason.
I also noticed that the font is very light (alsmost un-readable) in contacts, I have to hold the phone at an angle to be able to read the names.
Here is the cure for the font problem:
Open "HWA Settings" and disable "Contacts" and "Messaging".

Cool thanks, that did it ..:good:
So what is "HWA Settings" anyway?
If an app don't need hardware acceleration, than it will ask the system to not to do it, but sometimes it's just not working properly and with HWA Settings we can disable the hw acc on that app.

I haven't had this problem, but here's what I'd do :
Back up your user apps with titanium (I use the paid version, don't know if the free version will do this batch procedure). Run acmeuninstaller to get rid of android. Install whichever flavor of Android you want using ACMEinstaller3. There are several good how-to's here in the forum. Once you have android installed, restore your user apps with titanium. You should now be ok.
Install the latest version of the rom you use ; there has been lots of improvements. Also upgrade your recovery to jcsullins' latest cwm. You can find it in the development section.
Good luck.
Sorry to hear about that, I should have a new build uploaded in a few days which addresses a bunch of bugs

That will be super great SGA!
Also I did not use acmeuninstaller first so that is very likely my problem.
I have been installing them on the internal memory only because I was running into problems using the SD Card partition with apps force closing.
And no I did not use Lucky Patcher. I have only .apk files in /system/app and /data/app. Should I?
Also I just discovered that I can't access my SD Card partition from Root Explorer. There is the /sdcard folder but that folder is empty. Yet if I reboot into recovery and mount USB storage all my files show up.
Also when I try to download something from the browser, the browser crashes. Same with goomanager.
I can't access any of the music that was on the SD Card from music apps like Google Play Music. But it is all still there when using Mount USB in CWM

So I just got home and able to attempt uninstall and still having a few problems...
I booted it with the volume up and power to see the USB logo. Then opened command prompt in the novacom.exe directory and ran 'novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEUninstaller".
All it does is reboot to the HP logo and stays like that. I held the center and power buttons down to make it reboot after about 20 min and it still had Moboot and booted into android like nothing happened. I tried again and its been on the HP logo for about an hour now. I read the penguins are suppose to pop up right after and do the uninstall but its done nothing but the HP logo.
Well I got things resolved. I was hoping to avoid it but I started afresh with a complete file system recreate by following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650746
And then after ran the webOS doctor to just start over.
Somehow my partitions got corrupted and were no longer able to access each other (hence the sdcard folder being empty) probably from not uninstalling ACMEInstaller2 before using ACMEInstaller3. A complete wipe to stock was what I needed, and now its running smooth and my apps install correctly!
Thank you everyone for your help.

I spent a couple hours troubleshooting this evening and figured it out. You can re-enable it after you install Xposed.
The script was complaining because it thought /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 (/system) on my Droid X was full.

The script was complaining because it thought /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 (/system) on my Droid X was full.

This worked for me on my Google Nexus 7 2012 WiFi "grouper". Thanks a lot!
Hi all,
Yes, the above suggestion worked for me on Nexus 6 Stock and rooted. If your ROM partition (2 GB) has less space available (less than 15 MB), its possible to see "No space left on device" error. I had 14 MB left and was able to install Xposed after removing a bunch of apps from system ROM and freeing some more space (35 MB). Try it ... might work for you!

Chrome
Hangouts/GMessage
At least 2 languages for google keyboard
Sheets
(Maybe others I don't remember)

I tried this and many others on my T210R with TWRP 2.7.1.0. Nothing has stuck. It's like I don't have an OS on it at all. If I reboot, it just boots into recovery, nothing else. Where did I go wrong?
