I am getting this during playback of YouTube vids, and occasionally playing vids and music.
I hear the One X also had this issue?
Anyone...is this a known issue, that can be sorted through updates or development on this site?
Does anyone else have it?

I can hear a clicking sound from time to time also, it's more noticeable when in bed reading in a quiet room.
I would also like to know if there is a fix.

It's common on the HTC One, I believe the international version was fixed in a recent update. What ROM are you using?

Nope. ARHD 7.3 is based on latest update from HTC and popping/ticking/crackling sound is still there.

Ugh, I'm on ATT I have the same problem, I thought that update fixed it. That sucks
same
I've had the same issue with both youtube and playback of my own captured videos. Seems related to beats, but can't be sure.
using the htc one developer edition - most recent stock rom
Same, it seems to be related to the beats mod. My software version is 1.29.980.2

Will there ever be a fix about the popping and cracking in the sound on the youtube videos??
I heard that more htc phones have this problem..
The htc one is a great phone but this is realy annoying...
Maybe because I don't experience this issue at all. So assuming I already got a firmware version that fixed the issue.
Same here, I don't have the problem on 1.29. What firmware versiona re you running OP?

It depends upon the base though. I can say that 1.29.401.16R fixes the issue.
To all the people having the crackling issue and popping, to my knowledge and my research it seems to be a kernel problem, the only way i found to fix this is to install a custom kernel, example faux kernel and us faux's kernel app and set the cpu to performance and it completely eliminates the popping and cracking sound, or you could flash any other kernel and use set cpu app to set the cpu to performance, its a guaranteed fix, improves your performance but kills the battery faster..
I use my own custom kernel and I am on 1.29 firmware. Never really experience these issues on youtube. I am always watching youtube on my phone more like 3-4 hours a day and it doesn't really happen at all even once.
Probably is on 1.27, cause I notice it on my One and I am on 1.27.

I have the same, I turn off beats and it fixes the skipping/popping audio but the lip sync is out. My Optimus 3d never had this issue! Hopefully this gets fixed soon, I love to watch music videos on youtube and this has ruined my day (only just got the phone.
Tried the Vevo app with beats enabled, still the odd skip but not as much as the youtube app. Mobile youtube from a browser seems to be fine so if you like to watch music clips just use that I guess.
I'm on 1.29.980.2 & I get the popping, crackling and bad lip sync. Turning off beats isn't a fix, just a workaround. You shouldn't have to turn off features to"fix" a problem. That's what HTC's QA Department is for.
I don't subscribe to this just put up with it crap. I didn't buy a premium phone to just put up with it

I downloaded that faux123 kernel. Changed the CPU to what someone suggested and it is still happening? Any more ideas?

I believe sound was very loud on the launch rom that came on with the very first HTC ones. Lot's of people complaint it was too loud and supposedly HTC tuned the sound down. Might be wrong on this one though.
Hum.. interesting.
More feedback ?
Where i can get one of that builds ?

no, its software.
Heres to hoping they fix the low headset volume, and High BT volume experienced on some headsets (that last one is my biggest gripe with the phone)
turkishness -> In my Nexus 5 I haven't got the same sound volume concerning the SMS and when I play a video. I think (hope ) it's software issue
Now we just need to wait for the rollout to start and for some nice chap to post the ota zip and then we can all sideload it right away.
I think the sound problem is software, they just won't let us turn it up loud enough.

I went to a concert last night, and I recorded some video, and on the first video I recorded, the audio was perfect, as always. However, on all the following videos, the second microphone which this phone uses for capturing the louder audio never turned on, so now all of my videos (except the first) are in mono (with only audio coming from the left speaker, and the audio quality sounds like ****, like every other phone.)
I have a Sprint HTC One, and it's 100% stock. When I got home, my phone died due to no battery (maybe it just needed a restart?) and now it's working fine. What gives? Has this ever happened to anybody? I hope it was just a random software glitch, that's what I'm assuming it was.

I imagine it probably was. The thing with software is sure the testers may test for everything they feel is necessary. But it is impossible to test for every scenario out there, so every once in a while a bug may slip through the cracks, usually its a minor nuisance but in any case yeah it was probably a minor bug with the camera software or something.
Hey just letting you know, you're not alone and it doesn't happen because of battery. I have same issue and some others reported in the international thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660313
First video is always fine with stereo recording, subsequent videos only capture left channel audio. A reboot will allow you to record in stereo again, but just that one time.
If you can test and post there would be great because I feel a lot of people would be affected by this, they just didn't listen on a computer or through headphones yet.

I can confirm this. I just did an RUU and i recorded using the voice recorder and video recorder and both come out with only 1 channel being used and its the left one.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xuxe5l1xvqutp0g/JSajfATqqY That has 4 samples in it, 2 using the latest stock update on the sprint htc one m7 and the other 2 are from the sixth sense rom rls2

Thanks, it an annoying bug that no one seems to be complaining about too much. Probably because if you don't move the videos off the phone or listen through headphones, you won't notice.
Somehow we have to get the attention of HTC to fix during next update.
If you can post your examples in the international thread, there is a thread created over there, that would be good. My fear is that now the M8 is out attention will be there for HTC.

Same problem here. I thought it was a signal issue. Until I flashed the 7.0 radio on top of 7.1.1 and the same issue. I think the official release of 7.1.1 has some bugs.

Good finding. I'll try out.
I'm also experiencing this issue, I've tried downgrading the Phone app through "Play store uninstall", unfortunately on 6.0.13 the bug is still here (current version is 7.0.14), dunno about downgrading it further, but had it been related to the Phone app, we'd hear reactions from Pixels / Nexuses 6P/5X, so it's definitely our update to 7.1.1, which is bad news, I don't know how quick Google will be with the next version now that we're past our official updates period.

Its not only on stock 7.1.1. I've got the same issue on PureNexus 7.1.1 (january patch). The speakers are working fine when hearing to music or watching videos, but with the speaker phone its awful on the other side. They are also squealing when getting notfications.
