Will there ever be a fix about the popping and cracking in the sound on the youtube videos??
I heard that more htc phones have this problem..
The htc one is a great phone but this is realy annoying...
Maybe because I don't experience this issue at all. So assuming I already got a firmware version that fixed the issue.
Same here, I don't have the problem on 1.29. What firmware versiona re you running OP?

It depends upon the base though. I can say that 1.29.401.16R fixes the issue.
To all the people having the crackling issue and popping, to my knowledge and my research it seems to be a kernel problem, the only way i found to fix this is to install a custom kernel, example faux kernel and us faux's kernel app and set the cpu to performance and it completely eliminates the popping and cracking sound, or you could flash any other kernel and use set cpu app to set the cpu to performance, its a guaranteed fix, improves your performance but kills the battery faster..
I use my own custom kernel and I am on 1.29 firmware. Never really experience these issues on youtube. I am always watching youtube on my phone more like 3-4 hours a day and it doesn't really happen at all even once.
Probably is on 1.27, cause I notice it on my One and I am on 1.27.

I have the same, I turn off beats and it fixes the skipping/popping audio but the lip sync is out. My Optimus 3d never had this issue! Hopefully this gets fixed soon, I love to watch music videos on youtube and this has ruined my day (only just got the phone.
Tried the Vevo app with beats enabled, still the odd skip but not as much as the youtube app. Mobile youtube from a browser seems to be fine so if you like to watch music clips just use that I guess.
I'm on 1.29.980.2 & I get the popping, crackling and bad lip sync. Turning off beats isn't a fix, just a workaround. You shouldn't have to turn off features to"fix" a problem. That's what HTC's QA Department is for.
I don't subscribe to this just put up with it crap. I didn't buy a premium phone to just put up with it

I downloaded that faux123 kernel. Changed the CPU to what someone suggested and it is still happening? Any more ideas?

I thought Boom Sound was supposed to be mini speaker loud? I notice the Beats Audio logo but my volume hasn't been spectacular. Is there a setting I'm missing, perhaps?
The example of use:
This morning, the new Man Of Steel trailer dropped and I was attempting to show off to my co-worker but it just wasn't very audible. Only air conditioning was blowing so we were pretty disappointed. You Tube streamed the trailer fine it just wasn't loud. We tried my Play Music and it wasn't loud either.
The HTC One is firmly in the VERY LOUD category.
Too loud in many instances. Have you, like, turned all volume controls up in settings?

I agree with you 100 percent we had an iPhone fanboy I was trying to showed off also and he wasn't impress ...I started another thread you can search for it and people are saying the htc capped the volume on 1.29 update and the 1.27 firmware is the loudest ...ofcourse say that to the htc one fanboy lol ...it amaze me there are dumb people can't understand what you are saying ..oh well you correct tho there are some of us that knownabout these issues on the htc one. ...by the way don't let me get started in the in call speaker volume ..not loud at all... Perhaps we need to flash 1.27..I bought this phone thinking it will blow me away on the volume dept guess not lol

I was wondering the same thing. I have not been blown away by the speakers on this phone. I got the 1.29 update almost immediately after the first boot so there is no way for me to know what it was like before that. Have you managed to find a workaround or a way to go back or enable the full volume of the speakers???
I'm not saying this is the case for everyone, but for me at least my volume and sound quality were both excellent with 1.27 and 1.29. I often put my phone down while playing music and it fills the room. It's still miles better than my friends s4 and zl. I have to think though that even if some are having volume issues (perhaps the notorious QC issues don't just apply to the build quality), at least you're still gaining the huge advantage of stereo vs mono sound

Someplace, and I forget which forum this was in, a guy found the values needed in order to revert the sound back to as loud as before the HTC update. It was in either Faux123s kernel thread, the ARHD thread, or, Trickdroids thread. I'd advise scanning those. The only thing I remember about the post was it said change the values from 40/40 to 45/45 instead of 60/60 like some guy asked if he could do.
Or maybe that video just had very low volume anyway? Youtube video volumes are NOT normalized and if the vid was soft to being with, Youtube will just stick with that max volume. Nothing you can do with it.
Boomsound is advertised to not only be loud, but to be full as well without the screeching highs and nonexistent lows of other devices.
I've seen a couple zips around the forum for BoomSound I havnt tried them yet but I'll see if I can find em and post them here

doesn't make any difference flashing either one over 4.2.2
The zips contain /system/tfa folder from 1.27.xx builds which were based on 4.1.x hence it reverts to same sound on future 1.29.xx builds when flashed
However, in 4.2.2 these files are different and since we do not have any LOUD firmware from 4.2.2 nothing to replace ...we are stuck with what htc gives

no, its software.
Heres to hoping they fix the low headset volume, and High BT volume experienced on some headsets (that last one is my biggest gripe with the phone)
turkishness -> In my Nexus 5 I haven't got the same sound volume concerning the SMS and when I play a video. I think (hope ) it's software issue
Now we just need to wait for the rollout to start and for some nice chap to post the ota zip and then we can all sideload it right away.
I think the sound problem is software, they just won't let us turn it up loud enough.

Just wondering if any of you sometimes have had any weird sound as distorted / cracked or garbled when phone is ringing or in any notification sound?
Problems found by some users and me:
Crack, Garbled or distorted on notification or incoming calls (ringtone) even on some games.
Doesn't matter the volume level, it's not happening because it is at max level and came a distorted sound, that is not the problem.
It fixes the problem turning off and turning on the phone, so this problem comes intermittent and barely..
I'm pretty sure that could be an android os bug or sound driver bug but still I want to confirm with some of you.
We have 2 Nexus 6 at home, my wife and mine and both of us have experienced the same weird sound issue rarely times and not often, so I don't think that is a defective hardware but I am not sure.
1st Nexus 6 phone Lollipop 5.01 , Stock and rooted
2nd Nexus 6 phone Lollipop 5.01, Stock, Not rooted.
Please advise.

At max. The problem is that distortion from notification sound it comes intermittent, it can happen once in a while, it is not always. That is on my end even on my wife phone it does the same. Isn't that weird?

I have noticed this also, it is like a crack just before the actual notification starts to play.
I used to get it all the time on the Twitter app when loading photos (load a photo, go back leave it say 10 secs and load the same photo), it annoyed me so much that I changed my twitter app to just get rid of it.
Obviously is software. Sometimes even it doesn't come out. For example the facebook pop sound when you refresh the news feed. Going to RMA the phone for other issues, I'll let you know if in my new one there is the same problem.
I am having similar problems. I get massive sound distortions all the time. When listening to music, watching videos and playing games. It sounds like a vinyl witch scratches and hurts my ears. I had created another thread but nobody seemed to have the same problem. Is anybody here witnessing something like that as well?
I was having the same problems (at least I don't notice it any more). What I did notice it seemed to always happen when you double clicked on your notification from the lock screen. It was really starting to bother me as I paid a fortune for this phone and it shouldn't have this. Anyway's, I think I found a fix as I don't seem to have the problem any more (it's been 3 to 4 days). I went into sounds and chose other sounds and disabled the screen locking sounds. It seemed to have work. I do have the touch sounds disabled to, but when I only had that on it still did the distorted sound. I'll re-enable it and see if I still get the distortion. I'll post later on.

Are you getting this through the speakers or through a headset. Mine is working great for music or video playback. I also don't blast it either, that could be it.

I see blanco. But it happens nearly all volume settings. For example my sound is on level 8 suddenly decrease level 2, or is on level 6 again decrease level 2. And when watching youtube videos if i rotate the screen suddenly increase level 8 again and after three or four seconds again decrease level 2. Really so interesting and annoying. But my charge is over %30 sound quality is so good.
