Another Way Out? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I've rooted my phone and did a Nandroid backup but before I do anything else I wanted to make sure my phone is complete safe and backed up but I'm can't be 100% safe til I do a IMEI/NV data backup. I tried doing that using this method but failed miserably I just wanna know if there is another way to do the backup?

Why did it fail ?

This is why.

I know TWRP has this option but I I haven't tried to restore it. But I have backed it up using that method. QPST worked fine for me also.

Safestrap Help

So I installed a custom ROM and I love it. But I want to go back to stock for right now. I have safestrap installed, but I apparently lost my backup. Can I turn it off and go back to the stock? Or do I need to actually reset my entire phone?
Also, can I save my game data and use it for my stock rom? I don't wana lose my progress in bubble blast 2.... any help would be appreciated.
Just back up the files you want to use on stock. Go into recovery and toggle back to non-safe mode, assuming you flashed the custom ROM on the safe partition.

Use titanium backup to back up any apps/games and their data and then switch back to nonsafe and you'll be at stock. Download titanium backup again and restore your apps. You can also use my backup root to transfer your call logs and sms/mms. Just don't try to restore any system apps or settings with either of the aforementioned apps as it may cause issues. If you have any doubts about what you can and can't restore, make a safestrap backup after switching to nonsafe mode, then if you bork anything you can restore and try again
Note:the free version of those apps should be sufficient for what you need

Thank you both. Wish I would have read the titanium backup before I toggled it off. So now that I'm feeling optimistic, I'm toggling it back on, doing the titanium back up and then back off. I was a little nervous about this, but now I'm just plain old curious.
So long as you make safestrap backups before doing anything you aren't sure about, you should be fine. Its pretty hard to screw up your device so bad that you can't do a safestrap restore with a lesson learned. I've had to do tons of them.
It can also be a good idea to trying restoring your backup right after making it to make sure its good if you're gonna be messing around alot. I've had a md5sum mismatch screw me over before

[Q] Is there any way to create a flashable backup of our unroot V20*?

I've 20b Singapore version which loaded with quite a few personal data in it. What's the recommended method to back it up so I can return to the exact state as it now?
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Exact state?
To back up: root, nandroid backup, unroot.
To restore: root, restore nandroid backup, unroot.
Sorry, but I don't know of a way to do an exact backup/restore unless you have root. I doubt anyone has. I'd be glad to be proven wrong on this one.
Thought so. Just trying my luck.

No, but you can still backup all apps on your phone. (using special app, like Astro, App Backup and restore)
Also you can use the LG suite to backup things like contacts, sms and so on, I am sure there is a way to back it all up, but it's way more complicated, then doing it with Titanium Backup...

Restore .sbu backup files after flashing GT-N7000 into JellyBam

Hai everyone,
I am amazed with iGio90's custom ROM and the features included make my jaw dropped to the floor.
After flashing my GNote to JellyBam my PC Kies unable to establish connection with my phone and I know this could be due to the custom kernel and ROM in my GNote. I need to restore my .sbu backup file into my phone as there are a lot of important infos for my work. TQ guys.
**I do searched this topic everywhere in this forum and I didn't found any. Sorry if I missed one.

kies wont connect to a custom rom. so..
dint you make a backup using TB or CWM? if not the long way out is to get back to a stock rom, restore those files, and then use TB to backup and restore on new rom.

Thanks for your suggestion nokiaguy.
It could be tedious if i revert back to stock ROM and backup using TB and then flash it again to JBam. The JDK cardextractor app only able to extract contact but it still great. However i need other files too.
Does TB recognize .sbu file type?

I don't think so
One more thing about JBam I can't download attachment from email.

How to make a backup to undo mods like the docomo statusbar?

Hi i was wondering, i now have rooted and now i want to add the statusbar mod, but they often say make a full backup in case anything goes wrong.
Do they mean like the backup you make with custom recovery like cwm or xzrecovery, or just the phones backup and restore or like titanium backup? As i want to be able to go back to the exact same state the phone is in at that moment but without the mod.

I believe that would be a Nandroid backup via CWM

Do both, better to be safe than sorry, and TB is better for restoring single apps as it's quicker than restoring a full back up.
I tried TWRP but i would like to install cwm and it says it is not yet supported

And also,
do you have to delete dalvik cache and whatnot everytime you install a mod?
Edit: is it normal to get the message at every startup with "upgrading android system" or something..

Sorry wrong topic

Looking for root method that won't factory reset my phone. IE like Odin

Is there away I can root this phone without having to factory reset it? I was kinda spoiled by Odin when I was with the galaxy line. Just one click flash and done. I was hoping HTC had something similar but I haven't found it yet.

in order to root it, you have to start by unlocking your bootloader through htcdev. this wipes your phone, there's no way I know to get around it.
you could back up all your stuff first. Helium (carbon) is the only app I know of that can backup your app+data, sms, etc without root:

HTC Backup also does a surprisingly good job of backing everything up and restoring it after a reset.
I second the HTC Backup. Link it to Drive or Dropbox and let it do a full backup. When you are setting up the phone again, log back into HTC Backup and choose to restore a previous backup. It will re-install 98% of your apps and will restore lots of settings like wifi routers that you've saved and even restore your Sense homescreen, including widgets.
