"WOAH! What phone is that??"
You: "This is the Nexus One. Check THIS out..."
(What do you do when showing off your phone? And have you converted any iPhone/BBers out there? Let's hear some stories!)
I show them the live wallpapers, especially the live earth rotation one.
I also show off how well google syncs up.
As well, I show off the youtube app, then that I have about 50 youtube videos downloaded.
I also show off the camera, damn good for a phone!
The keyboard, and how fast I can type on it(I can fly with this! Better than any hardware keyboard I have every used, although can't do it blind.)
Most of all, I show them how fast I can move from app to app, screen to screen, and what not... I usually do about a 2 minute demo that shows off almost the entire phone, and not once does it ever sit there waiting to load. That is the most impressive aspect of all!
I throw there phone to the ground crunch it with my boot then demand they kiss my phone as I pinch and zoom the pic of me crapping in a urinal.
OR
Do the "navigate to ___" to show them the turn by turn GPS nav.

Stock keyboard in landscape, portrait is a little small. One of the first things I do with any phone is type as fast as my thumbs can move, and I found that I could go way faster than I thought I could or would be able to...
I find myself typing really slow at times trying to make sure I hit the key, then remember that I can just start flaring away, and it will keep up. About the only thing I really do I can think of some might not is that I make sure I pull my thumb all the way up, partially and likely mostly easy and quick for me because I am a drummer and tap a lot, so am used to it. As well, I type with no fear!

Interesting, I've never tried typing fast. I get frustrated with on screen keyboards, I miss my G1 keyboard
Do you use the vibrate on keypress or leave it off? (If this has an effect on typing speed)
Where do you get the earth live wallpaper?

Personally I use haptic (vibrate)...we should start a keyboard tips and tricks thread
I have haptic, the vibrate thing, turned off personally... and yeah, when I type slow and deliberate I do much worse than when I just try to type as fast as I can, within reason of course. The only time I have a major issue is that auto correct will replace a word I spelled correctly with someting else, but I have been making a point of adding words to the dictionary so this is become a less common issue.
You get the earth live wallpaper in the market. Do a search for "live wallpaper" and it is one of the first 3 or 4... also, if you check the themes and apps section for the Nexus One, the dev has a support thread on here.
People rarely ask nor do I flaunt it, I never see anyone else with it. If they ask I would show them but I never have the live wallpapers enabled to show them right away, I would have to change the background just so they can be amazed by it

Ah, iPhone fan boys are the best! I had a customer come in with an unlocked iPhone a couple days ago, and I was finishing a text when he walked up... naturally, he asked what I had, showed it to him, and he said it was an iPhone clone... I said "No, it is a 1ghz Android OS Google Nexus One, see..." then showed him my live wallpaper and said "see, and iPhone can't do that"... it went on like this for a couple minutes... can your phone do this? Yup, and look mine is already loaded even though I started after you!
Then, I asked if his phone had google nav, with speech to text, speech to nav, speech to dial? Asked him to show me his background... If his iPhone had a 5mp flash camera? Expandable memory? It was brilliant!

I reply to them 'You think that's a plus? I think it's a negative! My phone is better... booyah!' (I hate iTunes, couldn't wait to get it off my desktop PC)
Like others have said, point one I show them my spinning Earth Live wallpaper, that changes depending what time of day it is.
Then, if there's a decent print/piece of art/product I Google Goggle it. 'Yeah, of course its a can of coke', 'Okay, but can your iPhone detect that its a can of coke?', 'Erm...'
Then I point out widgets (nothing new I know, but iPhone owners don't have them) like the News & Weather widget.
Then I generally just show them how smoothly it can move in and out of apps and tell tham about the snapdragon CPU and 512 RAM and ROM, which probably no other phone this year will beat. I also point out the amazing OLED screen. Last night I had a 3Gs owner admitting he was leaning towards wanting one

No? I've been hearing about 800 RAM, 1.2-1.5 GHz chips and dual-core processors. Not that I feel I need dual-core in my phone (because holy hell, heating issues; see laptops), but there you go. Maybe not debuting any time soon, but toward the end of 2010, almost definitely.
I show them Layar, FxCamera, and Google Sky Map
I understand that a few of you have been using the phone. My contract has ended, and I'm really thinking about getting the Optimus 2X. I have read mixed reviews regarding the phone, and really want to hear from trusted XDA users.
So any advantages, disadvantages or verdicts would be really appreciated
Swedroid.se tested the phone a week ago, Swedroid is the biggest swedish community around Android, and its the only site I trust 100%! They said that its the best Android phone ever, they have tested so far.
You can check out the huge test here: http://www.swedroid.se/test-av-lg-optimus-2x/ (Its in Swedish though)
I agree with Hund. Swedroid does the best reviews you can ever see on the internet. They know their job and they test pretty much everything.
I've had the phone for a couple of days, so here are my first impressions:
Battery: I came from a Sony Ericsson X10i and the battery is a great improvement - can't give any stats though, but have pretty much been using the phone non-stop
Screen: Awesome screen with nice vibrant colors, good viewing angles and rather fair in sunlight.
OS: Everything is smoooooooth. Except when you change stuff like usb-mode. Then the media-player looks for new transferred media, but that is expected.
HDMI mirroring works like a charm! Great to show off and good when visiting people when you want to watch a movie.
Watched a couple of tv shows on a long busride today. Just standard 350mb .avi files that worked PERFECTLY! Even subs were crystal clear!
Camera - has some bugs with the blurryness, but I haven't really used it yet. Should be solved with a software update at some point.
I think that's about it.. BEST phone I've had so far and everyone I've shown it to was impressed BLING BLING

Could someone kindly try to use another camera from the market? Maybe the results are better? Camera360 could be an alternative app.

Do you use a Taskkiller like ATK or something. If you do stop using it, i had the same problems with those force-closes when using ATK. Also you have to bear in mind that it has stock 2.2.2 and most market place stuff is made for 2.2.1 .
My opinion on the LG 2x: I still can not believe it's from LG those guys really went in the right direction. I've had a BB9700 and a Galaxy S (darkys rom) and this LG really is a piece of work. The build is quite solid when compared to Samsungs Galaxy and the preformance is great. Battery live is about 130 % better then the SGS not 160 % as advertised.

I have this phone now for 5 days.
Before I had a HTC legend.
- speed is great.
- there is a lag in the lockscreen (when you press the power button you first see your homescreen, and a second later the lock screen)
- i didnt found a option for the email of my hotmail account to delete te messages from the server.
-I cant add wordt to my dictionary when typing a message.
- had several crashes while doing just nothing (scrolling through menus or something)
- a lot of programs start up by themself. and the advanced task killer is not automaticly closing it even when i put the setting on kill when screen is off.
overall a good phone, but it doesnt feel just that right like a HTC.
can anyone say something about multitouch on 2x? in a video i saw its capable to handle 10 points but more interesting would be if its now possible to pinch to zoom and move at a time.
e.g.: in browser you zoom in on a webpage and whlie zooming you move the centre of zooming to an other point like the upper right corner and it zooms to the new centre. ive seen this on windows phone and ios but android so far.

How do you set up your hotmail? I haven't been able to do that. On my X10i, when i deleted the messages of my phone, it didn't affect the server either, so maybe that's just they way android is set up.
The standard keyboard is pretty lacking in terms of features..
The random things you experience with programs could be due to the fact that you are using a task killer.. They only cause problems imo.

Well Read the orig. Post for the back store and at bottom ive included the user who supplied the right awnser and resolved the issue;
Im kinda disappointed in the note 8's stock gallery and really just fed up with the lack of options here to get it working correctly.'
I was just going to keep my issue to myself until i check reviews under the Gallery app via Samsung and seen that its not just me effected by this annoying as H3LL scrolling bug.
Anyone who has a good amount of pictures should be able to re-create the bug themselves.
Pretty much in a nut shell if you open a ALBUM and slowly scroll down the entire screen shakes violently like its having a seizure.
I contacted the other Dev i work with and he wasn't able to duplicate but also doesn't have nearly as many photos on his device as I do.
This really just ruins the gallery for me personally whenever I try to show someone a beautiful photo this device takes and it just represents the entire phone like crap IMO. Let me know if you guys have the same issue and your thoughts behind this one,
and i'm sorry to anyone who finds the bug and annoys the h3ll out of them as well. I guess sometimes ignorance is bliss.

The remapping apps like Bixby remapper are causing the overlay issue with gallery for whatever reason. I feel a little bit silly now but atleast there is a response. Thank you everyone this made my day a ton better not having to deal with the darn shuttering gallery!
To point out you ususally have to be scrolling near the top half of the screen to cause it but it's done it to me at all locations on the screen randomly. Just slowly drag up (to scroll down through your photos inside a album) and near the top it will start to shutter heavily and if you stop scrolling and just leave finger on screen it just shakes like a earthquake.. ughh.. contacting Samsung today for a resolution time frame here. Just super annoyed at this point.
And yes I fully wiped my device and restored with the stock Odin img as well to fully verify it wasn't a app or defect in the Initial install.
I have seen it on youtube, I have more than 30 albums with up to 900 pictures each on SD card and so far I have not been able to reproduce it and I tried for good few min. Actually it is surprisingly smooth and extremely fast considering it is reading from 256 GB Samsung Evo SD card.
I cannot reproduce this bug. Glad I don't have it.

Interesting. I would try moving them to internal memory and see if the problem persists. That might narrow it down a bit as to whether it's a problem with your device or the sd card.

i would def agree. Glad you took the time to supply the much appreciated answer. I've also added this info to Samsung site to help other users.
sadly Samsung probably knows its there and intended it to be there to make you not re-map the button. Grr.. they should allow remapping to whatever app you wish!
Weird. I don't have this issue, have bxactions installed, have >26xx images on my SD card.
I had the bug, Samsung 256 GB sdcard and over 5,000 pics and videos. I did have a Bixby remap installed...uninstalled the app, reset cache on the gallery, no issues so far. the stutter would accur no matter my scrolling location. I will further test to see if the stutter comes back
Interesting. There was another thread unrelated to this but was causing lag and stutter issues. The culprit: a bixby remapper app.
Perhaps once Sammy releases an OTA (since the official device release date is near) this may fine a lot of little bugs (for example, some are having issues posting videos to instagram)...

omfg THANK you. I thought I was the only one going through this as I haven't been able to find anyone else experiencing this until today. And then I nearly ordered a warranty replacement when I read the top post and saw that no one else was able to recreate the bug. It's a good thing I kept scrolling through and reading more comments. If I had done a warranty exchange, I would have just kept experiencing the same issue, never knowing that it was the Bixby Remapper causing the issue
My sd card will arrive in a few days, so all internal. I didn't have a lot of pictures (below 500). One of the first things I did was to install Bixby Remapper, so from my point of few, the bug there from the beginning. Removed it, seems to be working normally. Bought my Note8 from T-Mobile Austria.
Thank you for the solution.
Whew i was wondering what was up & was waiting to the next update in hope that it would be fixed. I never knew until i read hear that it was down to Button remapping.....:good: thanks for making this post (Very annoying issue resolved) helpful indeed....:good:
Open Google search widget and type in Tom Hardy. The results will load multitude of cards at the top. Those are very laggy. My nexus 7 from 2012 is much smoother, and Samsung's Internet browser is completely smooth with the same cards. But Google search app is like 2 fps when those a cards are on the screen.
Any fix?
Thanks.

My mother had this issue and it was like a build up of cards from previous searches. What I did is look for a setting that puts the results from a Google widget search into an external browser.

Thanks for the video Nabbed.
I see what you mean with the lagginess of the scrolling.
As I'm at work, I don't have my Tab S2 connected so I tried the same Google search using the home screen widget as you did on my One Plus 3. It lagged when I first scrolled down, then was silky smooth going up and down.
Will take another look when I get home on the S2. Why don't you just conduct your searches in Chrome until a solution is found?

Yes its like the Google app uses a poor version of Chrome to display its results. Suggest you set your homepage as Google in the Samsung Browser and just search from there.
Personally, I use habit browser, (which has an unbelievable amount of settings.) Once configured, it flies through websites and only ever displays the PC version of pages.
Just tried it now at home on my T715 and it was as laggy as hell. Probably even worse than the YouTube video. :crying:
i noticed that on the p30 pro that scrolling feels heavy and slow compared to coming from ios. is there a way to speed this up?
Activate developer mode , go to settings and then system and then about phone
Click on build number 5 times will activate developer mode
Scroll back one and enter developer menu
Scroll down to
Window animation scale click
Change to animation scale 0.5
Go back one do same for
Transition and animator scale
Voila much smoother

It's not possible to make it better. It's just the way it is. No Android is as responsive in the touch as an iPhone.
Wait... WHAT?? You sure, you're on a P30 Pro? For me, everything is supersmooth. And I like the way it scrolls very much. Also my touchscreen is more than responsive... It almost reacts before I even touch it...
No Androidis as responsive as an iPhone?? Come on, dude... That's simply not true.
Btw, I came from Apple to Huawei.
Sent from my Huawei P30 Pro using XDA Labs
Of course it's true. Read up on the subject and how Apple uses 120 Hz touch refresh rate in their )digitizers/screens (not to confuse with 120Hz of the Razer Phone). There's plenty of info to find on the subject. You can easily feel it when using one. No need to argue facts.
It's literary about the speed of scrolling. when im using twitter, facebook, discord, chrome.... If i want to go down or up a lot, i need to flick over my screen a lot. With my iPhone, every quick flick across the screen makes the scrolling go faster and faster.
Here, it's only a bit slow in some apps. Others are very zippy.

It has nothing to do with Android. I came from Huawei P20 Pro...and the scrolling speed was faster, and P30 Pro is more performant. So it's only a setting somewhere in the system...maybe not available for the user, but it's the way it's setup...nothing to do with performance or android vs ios.

i dont blame the power of the hardware, its simply annoying and i'd like its snappy fast scrolling back.
Furthermore i also cant seem to go back up to the top in apps. on iOS i can click the top status bar and the app would automaticly scroll all the way back up.

Well, for that you only have to hit "back" once. It works in apps that have that function. The difference is that on ios is was a system feature,on android it depends on the app...if the developer implemented it. For example,on facebook works...hit back once and it will go up.
Has anybody found a way to improve the scrolling speed? I just bought a regular P30, and coming from a Oneplus 6t there's a huge difference in some apps like Instagram.
I think I'll return the phone if I can't find a way to do it, it just makes the phone feel so slow

I like to try things out, and to be honest the 6t is a little too big and too heavy for me, I like phones just a liiitle bit smaller and lighter.
I wanted to try out a Huawei phone since the p10 days, and this last Prime Day I found the p30 for 390€, which is a great price.
To be honest the size and weight of the phone is spot on for me, it's also much better than I expected performance-wise. It just has some quirks related to EMUI that are making me want to go back to the 6t.
Also, I don't like the camera that much. It can take great photos but I find it oversharpens a lot on most situations.
Completely agree. Scrolling on twitter, Facebook etc is painful. Coming from a note 9, it is shocking how slow it is.
For me it's hit or miss, for example now it's buttery smooth, but there's times it feels like it's outputting the fb feed at 15fps...
What I've done is enable performance mode and in developer settings set gpu rendering always on
Has anybody found solution this is so stupid scrolling on p30 pro i can't believe that this phone with this stats is doing this slow heavy scrooling
