- backup your data on PC,
- format sd card in phone device,
- format sd card on PC,
- copy your data (copy and paste your data to sd card again).
thats it..

I think that you can try to mount your sdcard to pc as a usb pen drive, and try to recover your pictures with software like recuva.
Regards
There is loads of Windows undelete software available on the web, just Google for it.
Then stick your SD card in the reader and run the undelete through windows.
It's worked for me in the past, and pulled back all the photo and video files I'd deleted. Usually best if you haven't done any more writes to the card, or reformatted it.
Hope that helps, Phil

I'll second that. Just make sure you don't write anything new to the card as it will overwrite more of your deleted files.
Download File Scavenger it should work .
You can recover accidentally deleted pictures and files from the memory card of your phone with the help of "Kernel for FAT and NTFS" memory card recovery software. It recover data after accidental deleted or formatted files and photos from memory card instantly. It has an user friendly interface and has am user friendly interface through which the user can preview his deleted or formatted or corrupted files in RED color, you can save all or some selected files to your location.
OK guys I am in a bit of a Pickle here.
I plugged my phone into a PC in Bangkok to print out some PDFs containing flight information.
the pc started making .exe files on my phone with duplicate names of existing folders. e.g i have a folder called media on my phone so an exe called media.exe was created DCIM.exe and so on.
i plugged the phone into my laptop and ESET found a high amount of infiltrations over 400 which it cleaned by deleting. these were all the duplicate . exe files that it flagged as worms and Trojans.
now when i plug my phone into my laptop only certain files are visible. this is on the external SD and the phone itself. the files exist on the phone and SD card as i can see them all in in the explorer app such as all of my pictures and music camera photos etc, but alas the pc will not display these folders but when i click properties on the drive name in my computer it shows the free and used space correctly.
please do you have any suggestions ? my phone is rooted and i am using the alliance ROM. and do not want to brick this device just because of a stupid Asian virus.
thank you for any help you can offer
Alliance rom? JB or ICS?
Cuz in JB there is an issue with mtp of not displaying all files.
In ics, you can try to format your internal sd card and restore the data and check.
For this boot into recovery. Go to mounts and storage and mount usb storage. Connect to pc and this time you should see everything. If yes, copy all data to pc and format the storage using pc or format/emmc. Then put back the data. Reboot and check.
It is Alliance Rom ICS. so you mean format the phones SDCARD and the External SD card in recovery mode ?
yes either using the recovery option or using the drives displayed on the screen when connected to PC

What is the use?
If he formats it he will lose the files he is trying to access.
I have the same problem but I don't have any viruses. Just ask the photos from the last two months don't show when viewed from a Windows PC across a USB connection.
Hi guys
I plugged my note into my pc using usb cable to transfer games I had downloaded. After unplugging I discovered that all video files and all picture files have disappeared from both the internal sd and my sd card. This is really confusing. I've no idea how this has happened and what I can do to restore it all. This is really upsetting as we had a new baby recently and all my photos of her and my other kids have disappeared. :crying:
Any advice will be gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.
GG
Just reboot your device and check again
Hi
Tried reboot. Still nothing. File manager shows folders as being there, but contents are missing.

If they are really deleted try something like "DiskDigger" and check if it finds your pictures.
I used it on the JB leak which doesn't show all files and folders when connected to the PC. I didn't think of this and deleted an "old and empty" folder. I lost about 200 pictures of my baby.
With this tool I got back all of them.
That sounds fantastic, I'll give it a go. Many thanks!
One of my friend (!) accidentally deleted all of my camera roll photos from my Lumia 720
I tried to recover them with some File Recovery Software but as Windows Phone 8 connects via MTP, not via USB Mass Storage, the recovery can't be done
I googled the fact and noticed some forum with data recovery method, but only for android. If the Phone is rooted, you can make a dump (or something, i don't actually know what that is) of the entire phone and then mount that in a drive, making you enable to recover files from that.
Is there any process for Windows Phone 8 ?
I am seriously in need to recover those photos.

take the SD card out and perform the usual recovery methods with a card reader.
There's no SD card
The photos were in Phone Memory, that's why I mentioned it connects via MTP

Unfortunately NO
recover data
Have you overwritten your lost data? If so, then the chance to recover is slim, if not, then, you can get a professional Data Recovery
cumeeting: That would probably require disassembling the phone. Not practical unless these photos are ludicrously valuable.
If you have your Windows Phone Connector software set to sync then they might still be in your My pictures folder on your comptuer, worth taking a look.
Can you take a dump of your 720? Then using whatever can you use a utility to find it inside the vhd or whatever the dump is in. That's if it had a 1:1 transfer mode that captures the whole device including the stuff that was deleted. Besides that, no one has driver level access (except MS and the OEMs) on the device to make an app to restore the pictures from the device.
It's work if you try to recover files using recuva
I am soory I don't know much about Windows phone but I know Myjad iTunes Backup Extractor for iOS and Android Data Recovery.
Maybe you can go to that website to check if they have developed a new product for Win phone.

Once you have deleted photos from iPhone you cannot restore directly from iPhone. What you can do is to recover them with a third-party progrm like data recovery software. Another condition is that you should have an iTunes backup otherwise you won't get any of your lost photos back.
Try Myjad iTunes Backup Extractor, it is a powerful software specially designed for iTunes backup file recovery which enables you to extract and recover lost or deleted photos, videos, contacts, SMS/MMS, call records, voicememos, calendars, notes and Safari bookmarks from unreadble (.sqlitedb) file.

It is possible to recover deleted photos from camera roll, take a look at this guide: Windows phone photo recovery
The guide is easy to follow and works well for me. So follow it and get back your lost photos now before it's too later.

Have you actually recovered files from the WINDOWS PHONE 8 (which OP is owner of - Lumia 720), not windows phone 7?
Not the memory card in the phone, but from the internal phone memory?
Could you share?
The guide you point to describes recovering files from memory card or WP7. The guide gives false hopes for WP8 owners, because WP8 cannot be seen as a drive on the PC.

Sorry, didn't notice it was old thread. My bad.

It is possible, depending on the deleted pictures are overwritten or not.
After picture loss, you should remember that you'd better not save new data to the memory, otherwise, the deleted pictures may get occupied.
Then, choose a technical program and install it on computer. MiniTool power data recovery is good at data restoration. Connect your phone to computer, and then use the program to scan it. The whole process is very simple.
Don't be frustrated if you use the phone all the time. Scan it and preview how many files can be detected. Just have a try.
Thank you, ill try it
