I guess a rooted phone means that it was s-off... otherwise I don't think its possible to root... and as I mentioned I have a rooted phone with stock rom... didn't I??

Erm. It doesnt mean you must be s-off to be rooted. S-on is possible too if you flash superuser...

I think that...yes you can install custom kernel.
But i'm not sure. Test and tell!
I need the known kernels for this device and a way to flash kernels/boot imgs via recovery (in the same sense that we use flash image GUI but to use in recovery when you can't access a CPU )and we might have this today
I'm mobile and I'm having a hard time getting this done

you cant thats why you need S-OFF without the only way is with fastboot commands.
I have a quick tool that can flash them for you but it does not use the GUI your talking about
S-OFF allows access to ALL parts of the device memory.
Can you attempt to achieve s-off, it seems to be your main concern
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA App
And if you're thinking you can use the developer ICS that was put out there, no amount of kernels we have for the Vivid are going to make it boot.

Not sure if it helps but I know the h-boot version of the s-off device I got my rom from was 1.85.
This rom doesn't work on my raider since its s-on.
I'm thinking if we have someone dump the hboot image (s-off) one it may potentialy work out for the community

I'll see if I can get my buddy to do that, he's not answering right now though, but I'll be talking to him tomorrow for sure.

OP can you try this in adb
Code:
cd c:\adb
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/sdcard/hboot.img
More codes
Code:
param1=ext3
param2=EMMC
param1_sdcard=vfat
param2_sdcard=MTD
sys_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p29
cache_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p35
boot_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p22
data_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p34

A few questions regarding flashing a kernel.
1. Can i brick my phone when flashing a new kernel?
2. To flash a new kernel, all i have to do is fast boot right? Not wipe my whole phone like i do when i need to flash a rom?

1. Possibly... Read read read... And make sure you have a good charge on your battery... And make sure the kernel is for your phone
2. You should almost always wipe dalvik-cache and cache when flashing anything

There's the problem. CWM and rom manager don't play well with this device. Go to bootloader, open a command line and write fastboot erase cache. Then flash another recovery like wcx or twrp and all should be fine.
You also need to open said zip and get the boot.img out... and either use flashimg GUI or fastboot to install said boot img

They are actively trying to fix it although up to now they haven't been able to pin point the cause.

Yea I would have to agree wcx recovery is the best out right now. As far as the low in call volume, it seems all roms excluding wildchilds rom has the same issue. There has to be a way to pin point the issue as it will make Alot of ppl happy!
So like an idiot I completley wiped the phone and my recovery using TWRP. I can still access TWRP and the OEM HBOOT/FASTBOOT menu but I deleted the OS. I tried to restore using RUU but the program is not recognizing the phone. The computer does recognize the phone though. I'm just suck on the "F" boot logo. Any ideas?

okay I was able to get back and perform the most updated RUU. I was back to stock rom everything working okay. I tried to unlock the bootloader using the HTCDEV.com method which works as fastboot shows bootloader unlocked but it puts the phone into a boot loop. Any ideas to fix the boot loop after unlocking bootloader?
