Folks,
If you just picked up a Nook HD or Nook HD+ for the Mothers Day Sale, your local Staples B&M store (USA only) has the Nook HD accessories on clearance. I picked up the OEM charging kit (wall charger with charging cable - http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/pow...26257001?ean=9780594481904&isbn=9780594481904) for $5 and also got a nice case (Groovy Stand in Storm HD+ - http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/groovy-stand-in-storm-hd/26210964?ean=9780594545798) for $5. As usual YMMV as Staples is clearing out all Nook related stuff.
Sweet! I'll have to go check it out. Sounds great, thanks for the tip.

I guess it's just on a per store basis. I just checked my local Staples and there are no discounts on Nook accessories. A very limited amount remaining, but not on clearance.

My Staples did not have anything, Nooks or accessories. They are definitely closing out the product.

I have a couple of staples close by - nothing at either one. Thanks for your guides by the way, running 10.1 through a Samsung SD card right now. Really like this device.
edit on that Samsung card
I tried a couple of them, initially each worked but eventually would not boot CWM. Can not post this in the thread on the working cards, don't have 10 posts yet here.
Went to staples in valparaiso indiana. They still had a few cases and a couple chargers. Barnes and nobles has their cases for 25. Found a great rotating case that has plastic feet instead of grooves. In portrait and landscape mode the tablet is very sturdy. Only 1 position butvery good. Great folio design I hadn't seen before.
Thanks for the tip. Staples near me had three $5 Power Kits and a $14 folio case. Passed on the case, but I bought all 3 Power Kits. Last weekend at B&N I bought one for $15, I need to drop by the store soon to resolve another issue so I'll return that for a credit. Three for one, not bad.
If anyone wants a case, let me know. I found a bunch of em at a Staples by me at work.

How much did you pick up the cases for? I found the poetic on amazon, but didn't know if they are any cheaper from staples.

Pretty cheap. Good luck finding them though.
The official case is the best IMO. Powers the screen on/off when you open/close the cover. I have 3 HD & 2 HD+ cases. Normally $40/$45 respectively.
Picked up the Groovy cases in Black for $4 each and the stock Nook chargers for the HD+ for $2 each. Quite the bargain

I have the Poetic case bought from Amazon for $6. It has the same smart cover feature as you described. I did check my local staples but they didn't have any Nook accessories in stock. So this is definitely YMMV...
anyone able to compare the slimline poetic to the groovy case? I bought the poetic, but I'm liking how the groovy looks in the pictures.
Thanks to the info on Staples closing out their nook stuff, I found a fine MEdge Incline 360 case for the Nook HD there and it rang up at $5. Its a combination case and stand. Dark purple leather with suede-like interior. Its not perfect because it uses elasticized straps around the corners (that make using the power and volume buttons difficult) but its still pretty great.

I got a Poetic case too, but $9.95 delivered. It is black with gray interior and hand strap to hold. Secures around the corners and has two grooves to set the device. Was going to get the 360 case, but read where the portrait mode is not stable, so falls down. Same problem with my iPad 4 and went back to a similar case like the Poetic for that as well.
Nice that the wake function works by default with CM 10.1. Magnet must be strong, since the display goes off when still almost three inches away from closing.
I got a Nook HD+ Groovy Stand in Storm from my nearby Staples in Miami for $ 4.00, could not find the charger.
I wonder if its too late to go looking. Just got my Nook HD+ a few days ago but all the posts by people on xda and slickdeals about nabbing the clearance accessories are like a month old.

I've been checking in the northern New Jersey area with no luck. I purchased an extra charger from Tiger Direct for 13.00 and ordered the Poetic Graph Grip case with a sleeve.

Bought one of these covers:
http://www.buy.com/prod/sinclair-leather-cover-for-nook-ebook-reader/q/loc/111/218743078.html
for $13. Now there down to $10.
They're authentic B&N covers, and have a price of $30 on the box. A didn't look close enough at the covers in the store to be able to tell if this is the same as in the store, but it is very nice, real leather, and works very well. For $10 shipped it can't be beat!

Yes. The top overhangs just slighly, but otherwise a perfect fit.

heck for 10 bucks i can deal with that! thanks for the heads up!
Coincidentally went to the nearby TJ Maxx (had to .. wife said) .. browsing a gadget clearance pile in the mens section found some clearance Kindle covers .. $7 each .. looked like it would fit and bought one .. works great and fits fine, cover is roughly 1/2" bigger all around, elastic corner retainers and has a mag-snap closure, surprisingly the 'pleather' is pretty good.
Are there reasonable cases available anywhere besides Barnes & Noble? $35 for a case seems excessive.
Something protective for under $10 would be great, whether it opened like a book, used a rubbery skin, or anything else as long as it covered the screen.
The Five Below chain carries a great assortment of iPad cases for $5, but nothing in the 7" form factor. There are so few other 7" devices that I'm finding it hard to pick up anything locally...
Some kind of PDA case maybe?
I just got a roo case for the nook. Real leather, great quality and built in 24 position stand. Quite nice. Around 20 bucks on Amazon. The only hitch is the stand is only for vertical position. I use horizontal far more.

There is MANY! Check out the Accessories forum here on xda for a long list. Alternatively, just go to Amazon and type in Nook Color Case.

I have a nook color that Im starting to use for guitar tabs/lyrics at gigs a couple times a week.
I want to keep it protected but most of the cases I see are the leather book style or just the soft rubber bumpers.
I want something like the Otterbox but little cheaper if possible.
I saw the Trident Aegis fit that qualification but it appears they no longer make it for the nook color and I cant seem to find any still for sale online or on ebay.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Check cases for Nook Tablet also. Apparently everything is the same externally.

thank you
I had tried that as well
I just broke down and bought the otterbox
I found it for $35 at gamestop.com and used a coupon code for free shipping
it was SAVER or something like that.
Portenzo, a premium case manufacturer, just released their cases for the Nexus 10 today. I have the BookCase for my Nexus 7 and love it. I'll probably be ordering one for my 10 soon. http://shop.portenzo.com/nexus-10/
Oh ho.... So tempting. Just concerned about the lack of a Pogo opening... How hard is it to insert/remove? Would it hold its grip after being removed/inserted many times over?

Good News
Finally a quality case for the Nexus 10...I'm tired of the cheap stuff on Amazon..:victory:
Cases on Amazon are cheap but they work. How can anyone justify paying $110 for a case? I'd rather buy a Moko case for $6 and invest the remaining $104 on my next toy.

Agreed, I think that's ridiculous and they don't even look that great. That's just an opinion though
I've been waiting for either this or the never-will-be-released-by-google case that you see in the official videos. I can't justify spending over a hundred dollars, but I'll definitely be getting the standard book case.
I was reading that Google is looking to open some retail stores.... Given the fact that they release next to no accessories for their Nexus products, I'm trying to figure out how these stores won't be barren wastelands with just a few phones and tablets on display.
Looks nice but I can't even imagine how uncomfortable it is

I 100% agree with you. I use the Moko ultra slim (currently $5.99 on Amazon) and it's fantastic. To each his own I guess.
I am certainly considering getting the leather case for it.
I am more wondering if the next Nexus 10 will have similar dimensions that I can just reuse this case for.
What do you guys think the odds are that google will change the dimensions of their next 10.1 device or two?
This case has the gel inside the corners to hold the tablet in place, I would venture you could put something smaller in there and the gel would still allow for a relatively snug fit.
Good lord. More than a hundred for a case? I bought my used 32gb nexus 7 for 175. I got two Moko cases for 12 bucks.

That thing is an inch thick. Why? Might as well carry a leather binder and just throw the tablet in there. Then you at least have some business cards, a pen, etc.

The tablet sits in a wood base, that's probably why it is so thick.

I sooooo want one, but I configured it up past $180!
I purchased one yesterday. Decided to get the bookcase over the leather one.
The leather looked amazing, but I felt I would get more bang for my buck with the bookcase.
At first I thought the bookcase was made of the fake pleather that most other cases has, but really, its meant to be built just like a hardcover book which is pretty cool.
When I get it I will let you guys know what I think.
I look at it this way. Just to get an opening for the camera costs the same as my perfectly functional poetic slimline....
.....I'll pass
Just got mine today...VERY nice case...it is the quality I was looking for in a case. The Nexus fits snugly with no problems and all the buttons and ports are accessible. If you can get passed the price you won't be disappointed...

Hello, I found one that looks to be pretty solid, haven't tried it yet but have ordered one for my 7 year old who is gonna get a nook hd+ for his bday and the case has great reviews on amazon and poetic is a well known brand also. Anyways its a poetic graphgrip silicone case, doesn't include a screen protector so that would have to be ordered in addition.

I have the Poetic GraphGrip and it is nice. But are you seriously trying to convince "A Murder of Crows" to get a Silicone Case? Silicone is like the opposite of really solid. GraphGrip is like
