Is anyone aware of a way to enable animated GIFs in email messages? I can see the first frame but it never "plays". I had hoped this would be a new feature coming from the Evo3D but it appears not. Seems to work on my friend's SGS3 so I assume it's a part of HTC's mail.apk (noob assumption).

I installed the latest Google voice app, it has the kool new contact strip and the option for in box synchronization on the nexus one and the droid as ive witnessed. But when i install it on the G1 with a 2.1 rom i get the contact strip, but its missing the option for inbox synchronization.
Are us G1 users stuck without push still 5 minute check ins only?
Anyone know a hack or fix for this? thanks
PS. i tried pulling the apk from a droid that had the option, but when i install the exact same apk on the G1 i dont get the inbox sync option.
anyone? i mean who dose not want push?

It appears that this is only a problem on Kings roms, he drops the ball allot
Just use super eclair and you get the sync options, plus its far faster.
My girlfriend just picked up a used Captivate, and she's liking it so far, but the only annoying thing I've noticed is that anytime she receives a MMS (picture - from my iphone, png or jpg), in the threaded SMS screen between me and her, it shows a little preview of the image I sent (just like the iphone) but with a big "play" button watermarked over it - and when she touches it, it shows the picture and plays it like a video for 5 or 10 seconds.
Is this normal? Is there a way to remove the "play" (triangle) watermark from MMS thumbnails or otherwise change the behavior?

Hi,
I upgraded my galaxy s (Canadian version) to gingerbread. I came across the youtube video for Kite UI and loved the IM interface. The default screen for my message from cell contacts looks bland, I'm not talking about those apps that tie in all your online instant messaging programs, I'm talking about incoming txt messages. I'm looking for something to give my txt messages a nice UI with avatars, if it is also tied into an app that would include txt's and IM's, then that would be good as well.
I know kite ui is kinda dead in the water right now, any alternatives to achieve my desired result?

Try Go SmS app, very nice and you can customize the whole thing. Handcent and Chomp are also good.
I've posted this question in the HTC ONE forum on AndroidCentral as well, but I haven't had any responses yet. I'd love to see if this is an HTC ONE related issue, or if it's possibly just an issue with my wife's phone specifically.
Any help or insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up an HTC One for my wife yesterday and she tinkered with it all evening yesterday. One thing she noticed that I was unable to answer was sending pictures using the SHARE option. Sure, you can open up the default text messaging app and send a picture, but typically she'll share Facebook messages or share multiple photos from an app like QuickPic and then select MESSAGING to send the photos. Right now, it's forcing her to save the pictures, then open the messaging app and attach them.
I looked myself and noticed there is a very limited number of apps available under the SHARE option when you're trying to share an image from any app (Gallery, QuickPic, Facebook, etc). There does not seem to be a way of sharing images (single or multiple) directly from the image viewer or original app, you have to open the messenger app and then add them one by one.
I even tried downloading AndMade Share, but that showed the same limited list of apps to share with.
Am I missing something? I looked through the list of messaging settings, tried searching online here and on XDA, and couldn't find any mention of this issue. I'd rather not install a 3rd party messaging app to gain this ability, but if it's required then so be it.
As a side note, she's loving the phone overall. The camera is stellar and getting the phone for $169 at Costco was a bonus as well (even came with a free fitted transulucent plastic case, which was nice). The HTC included ear buds were also very nice. Overall, very impressed with the phone and included goodies.
in pic gallery go to share at the bottom it says more press that i get 11 options im not on facbook or twitter so i dont get them up i get messages mail gmail bluetooth dropbox and so on hope that helps

Dropbox
and a few others.
I'll post a screen cap if it still isn't working.
Just seems odd that even with Andmade Share MESSAGES wasn't showing. Maybe I was just not seeing it in the list on the phone. That's entirely possible, as we had just got back into town last night when this occurred.

Looks like you can use Share to send one picture via the stock Gallery app, but no luck sharing with QuickPic (single or multiple selected photos) or Facebook to the stock messaging app.
Here are screen caps of the QuickPic SHARE options. Options are similar within Facebook as well.
Just an update:
I e-mailed the developer for QuickPic to mention the issue my wife was having with her HTC one. They responded that it's an issue with the HTC Messaging app. According to him, HTC limits which apps can share pictures with the messaging app.
Looks like the answer will be to use a non-stock messenger.
Same issue. I want to send memes from an app, but don't get the option unless I save to gallery. Third party messenger it is, I guess.

greetings *, this behaviour of the stock mail app annoys the cr4p out of me, being used to the sense 3 behaviour. Is it possible to have the mail app:
always display the colored vertical bars left to a mail in multi account view?
print read messages not in bold anymore (as any sane mail client does)?
As said, have the One now for a day, and yes, it runs smoothly. But not having those __nice__ Mail/caldendar/contact widgets anymore is a bummer. I'm thinking of returning it, moreover, as I now have to use the frekking full blown facebook app. And blinkfeed just blows.
