I have bought Xperia V for 4 months, but there has had problem since 3 days ago. When I use wifi, XV works normally, but, when I turn off wifi, turn on Mobile data, XV shut down immediately. At first, I thought OS has problem, I has up another Rom, but problem can't be solved. I don't know what problem is. Can anyone help me ? Thank you very much.

Hi mate,
As per my understanding, he has an issue under which the phone automatically switches Itself off when tried to connect to a wifi network but it does not switches itself off when the phone is connected to the charger.
(The phone has sufficient charge)

Thanks for your reply. I said, when I connect with adapter, XV works normally with Mobile data, but when I unplug, it works some more minute and shut down >.<
I started to get the very same problems yesterday after what I think was an overheating issue.
Phone shuts down even if it's cold after mobile network is turned on. If I plug in the charger it will start and connect mobile network just fine and work for as long as the charger is in - unplug and it shuts down almost instantly.
If I have the charger in and switch to flightmode it works without the charger for a long time (didn't drain it but it went in flightmode for over an hour without problem). As soon as I turn off flight mode it shuts down. The battery level also is very "jumpy" and odd, feels like it is some combination of battery and mobile network.
Not sure if turning on mobile network makes the overheat thing spike and shut down. Also if I start the phone in regular mode without a simcard in it works fine.
Whenever the mobile network is involved it doesn't work for very long. Anyone else have similar experience and found a solution? I've ordered a new battery to see if it has something to do with the battery.
Also sounds like a similar issue in this thread talk.sonymobile.com/thread/127495?start=10&tstart=0
An update to this, I performed a wipe with PCC and got the latest version, problem still there with random shut downs. Then I replaced the battery and everything is working perfectly for hours. No shut downs or random reboots like it would do when just turning on the screen or similar.
So it seems this (for me) was a battery issue with explains why the battery % went up and down as the phone shut down, and it started to occur after the phone getting overheated (by the looks) so the battery probably got seriously messed up at that time.

I have Xperia T on official 7.0.A.3.195 firmware.
It is not rooted and boot loader is locked.
Problem is the phone won't charge when it is switched off and I guess that is not good because none of my previous Sony/Ericsson phones behaved like that.
I have read somewhere that this behavior is specific for some versions of CWM, but obviously that is not the issue with my phone.
Also I have found that problem could be related with chargemod file in phone/system/bin, which should be changed, so if someone can send me that file I can try to solve it that way.
Anyone else with xperia T experiencing this issue?
Any other idea how it can be solved (I have already tried factory reset)?
Thanks.

If you have not tampered with the phone I would be unhappy with it and take it back to the shop for a replacement.
Or you could repair in pccompanion.
Mine wouldn't charge properly when it was on and I just got it tonight and then when it was off charging was on and off like it was getting unplugged and plugged in again I pressed the power button and now I think it's charging but it didn't turn on I hadn't brotherd to press the power button again just yet

Charging on and off loop happened to me as well at first, then I unplugged and plugged the charger again, but nothing was happening.
After I switched the phone on it started to charge. Now it charges normally when phone is on, but still noting when phone is switched off.
I have also tried firmware repair in PCC and it didn't help, so I think I will return it to the shop and ask for replacement.

I had exactly the same problem. I got mine on 3rd Oct, and after about 7 days of use, I discharged the battery to 0% and it automatically turned off. Since then it refused to charge when power off, and as I have 0% battery, it cannot be turned on, making the phone totally unusable!
I finally managed to get it work again, here's the steps if you also find your phone dead.
When 0% battery and auto power off, if you press the power button, the LED light should flash quickly a few times and off.
Now press and hold the power button and when LED is still flashing, plug in the charger (use wall charger not USB on PC). You should remain holding the power button, otherwise the LED will turn off and no charging again.
After about 5 min, it will be charged to a minimum amount required to boot and the screen will be turned on. Now press the volume up key while still holding power button to reset the phone.
I saved my phone just like this, but even now it still cannot charge when power off. Searched this forum and some say it can be fixed by changing the chargemon file? It would be much appreciated if someone can share it.
Thread moved. Please ensure you post in the correct sections in future as all questions belong here in Q&A.

Just to inform you that in the end I have sent my phone to the service center and thay had to open it, remove battery and connect it again.
After that it was possible to charge the phone when switched off. I got it back now and it still works OK. Hopefully it will stay like that.
Shame on you SONY

I bought my XPERIA TX today, I have the same problem.the most issue is when your phone is off then it will not charge at all and LED charging will not work.
You have to switch on the phone and then it starts charging.
This is a big fault of SONY and now I understood why SONY is loosing reputation in mobile market.
I have the latest firmware of 7.0.A.3.220
Like 2 weeks ago my xperia t wouldnt charge too. Fix it then like they said here with a hard reset, volume up and reset. But yesterday i had the problem back. The charger was like on and off cause my notification was busy saying "unplug from socket to save energy". I unplugged the charger from my phone and like 3 seconds later it was BOOM, with a nice flash and my charger died taking out a fuse too. Luckely i just took out the charger, dont wanna know what could have happened if my phone was still on the charger when it short-circuited.
So if you have the same problems.. watch out!

How to open the TL?
I have been looking for a way to open my TL can have you any clue as how to so that? I need to remover the battery like you said to get the phone to start charging again.
Get It Replaced!
If your phone is doing this either call Sony +1-877-7XPERIA (1-877-797-3742) and explain what is going on. You're going to need the info from the pull-out tab found in the SIM/SD bay. It will take a few weeks and some Shipping money. OR your provider will probably replace it for free if you can get it to fail infront of them. (PROTIP: Let it die while using it and do not plug it in for a while)
Your phone will very likely get worse until it fails completely. My experience is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43383759#post43383759
Your phone SHOULD charge like every-other phone. If it is acting funny get it replaced ASAP
I keep coming back to these threads whenever my Experia T is acting up again. I finally bit the bullet and went the hardware way as described in other posts in this thread and also in a comment on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWox7kCygRE
"In the end I fixed this problem by removing the back cover (one screw in where the SIM card goes) and detaching the battery supply from the phone. After a minute or two I reattached the battery supply (its a little yellow tab beside where you plug in the charger) and put the cover back on, plugged into charger and it started charging as normal."
It's surprisingly simple, to be honest.
Did you manage to modify the chargecom file to enable charging while in sleep?
Cheers
Hi Folks,
I read the threads I could find on the issue but none of them helped. Here is my situation:
The phone was working all day without issues. I did not install any other applications. Left the phone on (and did not connect to power supply) all night. Next morning, the phone did not start. I thought the batter drained.
Connected it to a power supply all day but cannot get it started.
Tried the volume up + power on button several times without any signs (e.g vibration).
A red LED shows when the phone is connected to the PC or a power supply.
Tried flashtool but the phone does not get recognized. Any help would be great!
Don't worry this is normal, leave it to charge for a while and it should boot up fine. Happened to me more times than I can remember, scared the crap out of me haha
Connect the charger and keep charging until the red led change to yellow. The is normal behavior if you drain the battery to death.

Thanks for your replies. The phone is on charge for more than 12 hrs. How long will it take for the red LED change to yellow?
All Sony Xperia Z experts,
No changes on the situation.
Overall, I am quite surprised how little reaction this issue has caused with you guys. This is an unlocked BL, rooted phone with a deodexed 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware. So, rather standard. I use the stamina mode, causing almost no battery drain while idle. The phone never dropped battery below 30%. I am not using any apps to mod CPU or other fancy settings. This significant issue could happen to many Sony users.
I will contact Sony to see what they can do (not much I guess). In the meantime, if anyone else experienced this problem, please contact me.
Sony replaced my Xperia
Good news. Sony replaced the phone and included the charging station as well! Good service and a happy customer.

To me it seems like it is a sudden death problem.... You should send it to sony for repair.
Does the LED blinks bright red? If so, it could be either battery problem or hard brick...
For battery problem, charging the phone while turned off for a few hours should fix it. But then you said you had charged it for almost a day. Most likely a hard brick..... Sony would just charge you hundreds of $$ for swapping the motherboard...

Is it possible that the phone has been hard brick even it wasnt rooted at all? Yeah i try to bring it to sony center they say that it is a software problem. if its a software problem maybe they will just flash the stock rom on it. I am trying to fix it but no luck....

It may be possible, because Xperia V's battery problem is really widespread. The voltage control inside the battery can be easily fried after prolonged overheating (yes I learnt it the hard way) and XV is very prone to overheating.
My XV's battery died after a night of continuos overheating caused by normal charging... then the phone would suddenly turn off without any warning. The problem gets worse each day and only disappears when I bought a new battery.
I would suggest trying a new battery pack and see if it fixes... because if you do bring it to Sony, they would charge you insane amount of $$ if it's no longer covered by warranty

Hi Guys ..
Today My Xperia V Battery Run Out & Shut Down >> The Battery Get So Hot Before Turned Off & Have ZERO Charge
Now When Connect My Phone To Charge It >> Nothing Happen If Battery Is Inside It
But When I Remove Battery & Plug Charger >> The Led Light In Red
Any Ideas ?? Anyone Encountered That Before ??
Does My Phone Died ?? Or The Battery ?? Or Non ?!!
P.S >>> In Flashtool , I Tried To Connect The Phone When Battery Is REMOVED To See If I Can Get To Fastboot Or Flash Mode >> But No Blue Or Green Led Light ,, Does Flashtool Need Battery Inserted ????
Please Help
It's a battery damage I think... try to leave it charging for a few hours and see if you can turn it on. Use a proper sony cable and sony charger.
I have the same problem with my xperia tx, the led flash red and then disconnected even after 2 days of charging, pc companion and flashtool cant recognize my device.

I'm Afraid That My Phone Is Dead
My XV also experienced similar problem, caused by CM11 draining its battery to absolute zero. Apparently there's little difference in phone behavior between hardbrick and damaged battery. You might want to try a fresh battery pack, even though mine only needed 3 hours of charging and it's fully back on.

Well, have you tried to drain your device battery completely and then recharge it until green led flash, i've seen people recover their device by that way.

Just like @mizan132 said, I only charged it for 3 hours, then it turns back on (the SONY logo came up, then the battery charging indicator) My XV's behavior was very similar to a hardbricked one, it didn't detect flashmode nor fastboot, and attempting to turn it on by holding the power button only resulted red LED blinks. I thought that was it, my phone bricked, but I guess I was just lucky.
Hardbrick is usually caused by improper partitioning or motherboard damage... if the battery has something to do with it, most likely the damage is within the battery... but don't take my word for it

A fresh battery pack would do the trick as well if waiting 3 days or more for the battery to drain is to much for you. What if the device was bricked? Mine using stock jb firmware and rooted. My phone died out of sudden while i was online and it was connected to charger with 2% battery.

i suggest that you drain your battery or buy a new battery, charge it with wall charger and wait until green led flash. Next, boot your device, if it cant boot, plug it into pc, check whether pc companion or flashtool can detect it or not. If your device detected, you can flash stock firmware via both softwares. Give it a try mate, i am dealing the same problem over here

Can be a motherboard damage or battery issue... may be caused by overheating---this is a good enough reason to not use your phone while charging. Now don't take my words as fact, I've never used an X TX before.
Hi guys I have strange situation with my Xperia Z.
XZ won't start and load OS unless connected to a charger! When unplugged XZ gets to SONY logo, or animation or briefly boots and then dies. Battery is FULL. I've charged it over the nights.
When connected to a USB charger it starts normally and works until disconnected from charger. Then dies after 5-30 sec.
I am experiencing this behaviour after OTA update to newest firmware 10.5.A.0.230. Previously I had rooted 10.4.1.B.0.101 which worked perfectly.
I have tried to flash 4 different ROMs and with all of them XZ dies unless connected to USB charger.
Finally I’ve managed to get restore to original 10.4.1.B.0.101 but still same behaviour.
Please help! I cannot find any similar issues on forum. Tnx!
