Is anyone else having issues with 5.0 GHz WiFi connections?
I have a Netgear D6300 WiFi 802.11ac Dual Band Router, which worked fine on 5 GHz band with the HTC One X but the new HTC One struggles to stay connected & forces me to connect to the 2.4 GHz band which is stable.
It seems to struggle with distance. Short distances. In the same room as the router it is fine but in all my other rooms its terrible & reconnects or times out.
Again, the HTC One X was happy under the same conditions.

I have the Asus RT-AC66U, and I don't have any connection issues. In fact I find in many cases the One has better reception compared to that on my other devices.
I'm having the same issue with my d6300 and HTC one. Might try and downgrade to see if that works

I have a D6300 as well and no problems here. I also have a Billion 7800VDOX and have no problems either.
Which HTC one do you have? I'm thinking my Telstra firmware is bugged

I have the same problem just with a D-Link Dir-825 running openwrt. 2.4GHz runs fine but it can't connect to my 5GHz
Still no good connecting my HTC One to my netgear d6300. tried downgrading the router, changed from Telstra to ARHD 11.0 and no dice. The weired thing was that whilst on CM nightlies it would connect with no problem. Im also on my second HTC One and neither connect.

Have you tried restarting the router. I have the same router and don't have that issue. Only issue I run into from time to time is, I'll be connected, but no Internet connection. Turn wifi on and off on the phone fixes it.

I have the Asus RT66 (not AC version) and connect fine with stock HTC One on the 5mhz band. I did have to uniquely name the 5mhz band or it would connect 2.4.

new firmware for router came out a few days ago and fixed problem! i believe the version is .30 from .24
Yeah, I have that same router and also experience connection issues. It can be connected to the Internet then I lose connection. Switching to the other band fixes it, then that one does the same.

Try enabling support for wifi N connection with a hack or something since it could be disabled by the carrier. Viper One rom has that option. You could also try going to wifi---> settings-----> advanced and turn on best wi-fi performance and changing wi-fi frequency band to auto.

Hi all. i have a problem with my note. on some instances if i try downloading large files(for games or navigon maps, or just browsing on some sites, etc) after 10 15 seconds the wifi adapter shuts down/resets and the connection is lost. the adapter restarts and connects to the wifi in 2 3 seconds but is very frustrating to try downloading something many times before succeeding. anyone else has this problem? i searched the forum but didnt find anyone else with this problem. any ideas as to what is causing this problem?

Re: note wifi disconnecting
Hmm. Try changing the router wifi settings to transmit only b/g and retest.
Had the same issue, please tell us what version and kernel rom you are using?
->I had only when using CM, on stock GB and the XXLSC roms, I did not encounter this problem (also with cm 10.1 I seem to have a stable connection again)
**I do want to note, that it can't be possible to have a worse connection when on CM vs TW, but I have experienced it this way. So I can onlyh draw my conclusions from that...(I don't have any developer knowledge whatsoever)
Re: note wifi disconnecting
I would start by un plugging the router and plug it back in.

baseband version: N7000 xxlpt. kernel version N7000 xxlq3. android 4.0.3. This issue was present from day one. but never tried downloading large files from another router and my htc legend never had this issue with the router. will try to see if the router is the problem today and get back to you. tx to all in advance

Try this:
Dial *#0011#*
Press the menu button on service mode screen
Select wifi
Turn "wifi power save mode" off
It seems like this is only working on samsung roms. I'm on CM10.1 and I have to dial *#*#0011#*#* to access the service mode.
Also there is no wifi entry in the menu.
Re: note wifi disconnecting
just downloaded a 700 +mb file with no problem. i set the router to b and g only. seems it was the frickin router. tx a lot to all 4 ur support.

Hi,
I have router DIR 855 and had the same issue with my note. Wifi kept disconnecting whereas all the other devices at home stay connected. So it was clear that Note was the one that had the issue. Changing the 2,4ghz to b/g setting helped but I would like a stable connection on my 5 ghz band and that one keeps disconnecting. Any idea how to fix that? I am using NAS and the speed is much better when using 5ghz instead of the old crappy 2,4ghz.

For me too 5GHz is not stable on note... Why not use the router on Auto and then use the settings on NAS to use only 5GHz
Please explain

Hi,
Can you please elaborate on how to do that?
My router has two different bands and it cannot switch between the two. What do you mean by NAS setting?
Depends if your router can run simultaneous dual band.
I have issues on Wi-Fi with my one where with my Samsung glide no problems . I have a Belkin router wireless N and it normally works fine but with the one I get occasional drops and reconnects. Anyone else have this issue. I am on stock rogers. My Wi-Fi has security enabled as well.

Did you turn on Power Saver and Sleep Mode? Click the Power Saver mode in the Power menu in Settings. You can select what Power Saver controls. Untick Data Connection, and if you want, turn off Sleep Mode as well.
I have noticed some issued. I have the developer edition and upgraded from a nexus 4. There seems to be issues with the One releasing wifi and reconnecting to data or vice versa.
In some cases, i know i am clearly out of range for a wifi network, such as the top floor of my office, yet it picks it up and connects without data since i assume i am out of range. For now i just manually control it as its pretty rare, but fir sure not something i have ever experienced before.

Agreed this is what I am seeing.I have disabled power saving and the other option to turn off data when sleeping and yet periodically the wifi just drops as I am viewing some wifi video streaming. It is weird I switch off the WiFi and use data and all is fine. I do not know if it is an incompatibility with my router. That's why I posted here to see if anyone else is seeing similar issues.
Also is there a way to set a manual Ip? was wondering if that may help as have heard issues of other phones having issues with DHCP via wifi.

I ordered a new AC router and will see if that works better and if I still get wifi drops. I am hoping it is my old cheap router giving me issues.

Well I got the ASUS RT-AC66U and now the Wireless 2.4GHZ works great but the phone will not connect at 5Ghz, so much for AC that only operates at that frequency. I heard other people are having this issue as well from my searches on this forum and the web. Kind of sucks that my router has the latest firmware and still has this issue with this phone. I did notice that there was a beta firmware on Asus's site but I am iffy on trying a Beta Firmware on my Router when all other devices are working great and so is the phone on the 2.4ghz. Great range with this router as well. Sucks that I can not use the 5Gz on the phone though. Tried on 2 other Devices that support 5Gz and it is working great on them. I gave 2 different names for the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz to tell them apart, but no go on this phone.

here's my take on the whole wifi thing with htc one. either the wifi chip is too picky or it's too new for the older routers. i couldn't get a wifi to stay connected using my old D-Link DIR-655 router from years ago. All other devices had no problems except this phone so that's a bummer. I then picked up the Asus RT-AC66U and immediately flashed the latest beta firmware. Performance and range is flawless on the 2.4GHz band for this router. 5GHz works as well if i'm close but it just doesn't have the range of the 2.4GHz for this phone so I've been sticking with 2.4GHz.
I actually wanted the just announced RT-AC68U but couldn't wait any longer as there's no eta on the release for it.

I used to have a Belkin Wifi-N router cost me about 40$ on sale and it used to work with my old Samsung but could not connect and stay connected on my One (Single was not to strong on top floor of house as well). It kept dropping WIFI after a few minutes on One and was really annoying. The RT-AC66U works great at the 2.4Ghz and I am tempted to try the Beta Firmware that you are using but I hear it slightly drops the range on the 2.4Ghz and all my other devices (WD-TVlive) are working great streaming 1080P from 3 floors up (Routers in Basement). Question for you, since you flashed the Beta firmware and can connect at 5Ghz are you hitting the 400Mb speed when you connect at close range. If you click on your connected network on phone it shows you the connection speed.

unfortunately with the beta firmware on 5GHz band, the fastest i am able to connect with this phone is around 87Mbps and it still feels slow compared to 2.4GHz. mind you this is me checking the speed by standing right next to the router with my phone. on 2.4GHz the fastest speed i can get is 72Mbps but the range is great. i hope asus is able to release newer firmware that will help increase the speed and range of this router at 5GHz but it's probably not possible. i still think it's the AC chipset/driver in this phone that's preventing the wireless from achieving maximum speed. in comparison, my dell latitude notebook is able to connect at 450Mbps at 5GHz with on wireless N. THat's with the intel wifi chipset which has always been imo the best in compatibility and performance. i look forward to the day when i can rock a smartphone with intel all in one chipset.
I am also connected at 72mb and at 2.4ghz it connects great. I am going to leave it like this. I find the range on the Asus router is amazing. It sure beats all other routers.
I'm having wifi issues.. When I use my office wireless and then come home and use my wifi... it shows I'm connected but there is no data is being sent or received. I'll restart the wifi, phone and router - nothing works?
At the office, I have a 4 year old Netgear Wireless-G router (works on B and G).... At home, I have a 1yr old Apple Air Extreme dual band router that works on B, G and N. Nothing else has any issues. I take a laptop several days a week and it connects fine to both the office and home wifi.
It has gotten so bad that I sometimes have to restore from a Nandroid or reflash my ROM just to connect at home.
It's not a ROM issue, I've had this problem on 5 different ROMs (3 Sense and 2 GPE). It's not a firmware issue, I flashed every firmware known to the HTC One in the past 2 months. It's not a Radio issue, I've flashed every radio available too and still have the issue.
Today, on my HTC, I went in to the advanced wireless settings and tried several things and then unchecked every box that was checked and re-checked them and kept restarting the phones wifi each time. It finally started working, but now I'm not sure what step got it working?
It'll probably be fine for a few days, then I'll loose it at home again.... But it's always fine at work?
Any thoughts? Is this Apples way of saying "You should have an iPhone"?
I am seeing approximately same issue over here: while I am mostly using mobile data at work, at home am on my 3rd router in as many years, just replaced an old linksys wrt600n for a netgear r6100. I would occasionally experience your problem, usually on the 5ghz network, would switch to 2.4 and then back to 5. that works all the time. there are so many variables with wi-fi connectivity, it is really difficult to investigate and diagnose. I cannot tell for sure but I think the issue is on our HTC One device side as my old ipad never dropped the 5ghz connection. I, too, tried all radio firmwares to date with same outcome.
one advice that seems to help here, under advanced wifi settings, disable the battery optimization check.

I did have the Wi-fi optimization checked.... It is now unchecked.
Thanks for the advice!
I'm not sure if this is a networking issue or phone issue, but I think I got this narrowed down to a phone issue.
I currently have a 105mbps plan through Comcast and all is working well except my Nexus 6 WiFi SpeedTest maxes out at around 20-22mbps.
Currently routing with a WRT1200AC Router with both 2.4 and 5ghz bands enabled.
I am aware the Nexus 6 supports 802.11ac; therefore I connected to my 5ghz band network. The nexus shows i'm getting a solid 360mbps connection to the router. However when doing a SpeedTest it caps at 20-22mbps (I should be getting around 105mbps). I suspect no issue with the router as I tested with a 802.11ac supported laptop and was screaming past my 105mbps speed. Based off some google searches I found that possible causes were maybe some power saving features, those have been turned off.
Troubleshooting I have done:
- Moved my 5ghz band to different channels
- Tried different 5ghz channel widths
- Tested speed on 2.4ghz band (Same Results)
- Tested Another Nexus 6 (I tried running a speedtest with a family members N6 running pure stock rom/unrooted and same results as with my Custom Rom'd N6)
- Disabled Carrier Radio leaving only wifi on.
- Reboot Phone, Router, toggled wifi Off and on.
Any other suggestions? It would be pretty disappointing of Google / Motorola if this was the result of hardware capabilities.

Once in awhile my tab s2 keeps dropping the WiFi connection. I did a quick search and noticed samsung has a history of wifi problems pro, S, 3 4 .
No bluetooth, just wifi
Is this a common thing?
My other connection that use 5Ghz AC work fine. 2x Nexus 6P 5Ghz AC, Nexus 5 5Ghz N, Laptop 5Ghz AC, a bunch of 2.4Ghz G'so
Samsung Galaxy 9.7 tab S2 - Stock 5.1.1
I experience same sort of issue, even with strong signals. And sometimes it doesn't even wanna connect to any but restart fixes it most or time.
Same issue for me
Same. 2.4 no issue.
No probs here. I have 5Ghz and 2.4 at home and both connect fine. Maybe it is a combination of Samsung with certain types of routers/ access points?

I was able to fix mine. There is a setting in WiFi MORE to Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep
i am having the same issue, it's only the 5Ghz that keeps dropping at irregular intervals.
Wifi is always on and i have tried a different router.
Any suggestions are very welcome!
Same issue prior to upgrading to APJ1.
