Hi folks, I don't know if it's normal that the "android system" is taking to much battery, even if my phone is in stamina mode
As you can see is the most draining processes in my phone and I don't know why, all the apps seems to be alright and nothing is running in background in stamina mode, I only choose the three apps that I use most, Google, WhatsApp and Facebook.
I had search but I only get information about this issue about the Samsung galaxy, nothing according to my xperia Z, any help would be appreciated.
Regards

I've had that on my Xperia s, tx, t, z. Nearly all Sony phones are like that after a long period of use.
Im not 100% sure but turning off auto sync sometimes help and it may be the root of the problem.
I have a temporary fix and that is repairing it and start fresh again.
I rmb trying out a really really lite rom by curiosity for Xperia t and never had this issue. I don't know what did he removed, but he definitely removed quite a number of apks.
So conclusion, it's one of the system crap that must go and it might be the auto sync.
Its really funny how only a few people brought this up. I am currently having this issue on my z and I'm too lazy to start fresh.
And if I rmbed doomlord had this problem too, I dont rmb there was a solution to it. Too lazy to find the thread.

Indeed, I am not going to complain about the battery life because it's great, but if I can figure how to solve this issue I am pretty sure that the battery life will be awesome.
About the auto sync all the major apps are off, Twitter, facebook, localization and I am checking constantly all the apps trying to find where it's the problem
The only app that I have in sync is Google, calendar, contacts and gmail

I've had my z for about 2 weeks now. During that 1st week was fine. I leave sync on and everything on over night with stamina mode on. Next day when I wake up battery only drops 1%.
After a week of use, this problem started to appear, I have android system and android os hogging the battery. So I did the same test as above and the next day I ended up dropping 9-10%.

You should just turn off all sync. Go play store and find toggleswitcher for small apps.
There's a sync button to turn off all sync at once. So you don't have to do it individually and going to settings every time.

I am having that issue as well, in one week 120 mb and I don't know why, I think is related to the android system battery drain. Are we the only ones having this issues or nobody is noticing? Any clues?

Thank you, but I dont want to use any battery saver app instead the stamina mode, I read several blogs that those apps are more harmful than help, I am using the wakelock detector to find which app is draining my battery, so far the google plus and something about sony are the main objectives, tonight will post the review of the day

On my XZ it's the Google Services causing the biggest drain aside from the screen. BBS tells me it's the Event Log Service and Google Services Framework. Maps are greenified, Gtalk freezed, GPS deactived, Gmail and G+ uninstalled

After using my phone for almost 10 hours can notice that the android system stoped doing that thing about draining battery, so I installed wakelock and this are the results
I dont know why com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup takes so much awakes, I read here in XDA that I can delete this app without any issue at all
what do you think?

I managed to greenify google plus, and thats because I use it to instant uploads.
Download Titanium Back Up Pro from market
Go to apps and select the google plus app, at the menu select "convert to user app", then reboot
After that go to greenify and now you can take it away :victory:
PS Also deleted the com.sonyericcson.android.wakeup, so far so good, no more awakes

I have international 434 and the wifi is on, but the phone is deepsleep, the problem here is the android system, I dont know why but drains my battery pretty fast, almost 40% just the same as the screen 40%
any ideas what I have to delete or hibernate?
Im having like 10-15% battery drain through the night.
Only my gmail sync is on, and ofc wifi... But is it that stupid that it keeps phone awake for whole time because of wifi and mobile data? I mean, what the push is for then?
Just turn off WiFi or all sync over night.

Dear all,
I faced all the problems you mentioned in the other posts about this problem. I used all the impractical solutions also mentioned to remove battery and to go to plane mode and to download cpuspy and other applications.
What really solved the porblem for me came to me just by accidentent. an ad for app came to me. it is called NQ security, it is actually a security suite more than an app. My battery was almost consumed after four hours of full charge, now it is running for full two days without power save or disabling anything 3g, wifi or bluetooth or even display was left to auto.
This app NQ security scanned my mobile and found two applications as threat, I don't know why they were threat. I downloaded them from google play not hacked. NQ asked me to uninstall them and of course I did and voila everything was solved as I explained earlier.
Why did this happen, it is my only guess and might be wrong. Some applications acts crazy due to not a full compatibility with ICS that made some services keep running and prevent deep sleep. This mad activity was detected as abnormal or a threat by NQ.
Please if any has a better explanation please post here.
Thanks to all of you
Interesting. I wonder how wakelock app were perceived as a threat. Maybe it was a coincidence...
Personally I use CPU spy to see if he phone gets decent sleep time and if not I use system panel and battery stat apps to identify misbehaving app.

I used CPUspy for a while, but warmth of the phone is quite a good indicator that it has no deep sleep. Please try the NQ security to see it yourself.

I've found a different solution. I'm using speedmod kernel and do a simple reboot just after unplugging in the morning and my phone makes it to the end of day with 30% battery. Without speedmod and the reboot it use to be dead 2 or 3 hours before I was ready to plug it in. Works for me anyway.
I will give NQ a try and report back.
This sleep problem is driving me nuts.
Just lost 33% battert in a couple of hours after full charging. checked CPU spy and it was sitting on 200MHz.

hi, from what i know ur situation is that u always stay in at least 200 mhz of cpu using after unplugged, right?
i have the same problem too in the early days, but problem will gone as u notice some glitch below:
if u usualy charge the phone in switch off states, it's ok, but if u r charging the phone in switch on states, take note that when u unplugged the phone while it was still screen lock states, the phone system will think that u didn't plug off the charging, although ur screen didn't show, and the cpu will kill on active in 200 mhz states, so, all u need to do is to reboot ur device, to reset the detection of the charging, and remember next time don't unplug the charging while its under screen lock states.
also, if there is too many noticefication on the top bar, it might too active the phone too 200mhz, clearing it would solve the problem.
now i can keep my phone over night (10pm-8am) with just 25%, and just 1% for the night, sometimes even less
About a week ago, I started noticing that my phone battery gets very hot and the battery drains quickly when the phone is NOT in use (Screen off, sitting on my desk). Full charge to 0% in 4 four hours or so, without being stressed.
When I try to charge it from the supplied wall charger, it doesn't get past 87% charged before the battery temp creeps into the 40s and it starts draining (while still plugged in).
I assume it's a faulty battery, only because I haven't downloaded anything new. The only change I made was updating Viber. I removed that app from my phone but it's still dropping like a fly.
I've done a factory reset twice, no change.
Rebooted the phone many times, no change.
Tried different cables and different chargers (PC, Old X10), no change.
Now, since I can't replace the battery in this phone, I'm hoping there's a software method to see what might be eating the battery.
Note : My LT30a .195 can't be rooted, and the bootloader can't be unlocked. Also, I don't know how to take screenshots.
Anyone have an suggestions ??
In Settings-Battery you should be able to see what processes are using it.
If you want to monitor cpu load in real time, then you'll need some app, like OS Monitor to see load per process, or PowerTutor for logging cumulative consumption.
I bought this phone several days before. Yesterday got root, installed cwm recovery and installed jb 4.1.2 deoxed stock Rom. I noticed that my phone can't sleep. Totally! Take a look on screenshots. I thought that may be bcoz of some apps so I wiped everything (int and ext sdcard too), but it makes no sense

Turning off your auto sync when not needed should do the trick.
Something's wrong there. I've got too much battery consumption by Android System too, but that is ridiculous.
¿Have you tried BetterBatteryStats to see what's keeping it on?.

AudioOut_2 is related to any games or apps related to sound or which "produce" sound..are you on stock rom and stock kernel?
try to exit any music player app after listening or exit the game properly after playing..sometimes keystrock sound causes it..
do one thing...reboot it and keep it idle for an hr or so..and while rebooting make sure your phone is not in silent or vibrate mode..and after an ar check the batterystats and let us know!
And do check all the columns including partial wakelocks and try to find which process used more time or percentage...

I checked with better battery stats whats happening, and it shows that google services and google search is waking my phone a lot,
so i disabled then.

someone shed some light?
I have heard that this problem is uniform across all android 4.2.2 devices?
EDIT: SOLUTION. just turn off wifi and mobile data if you want to sleep your phone.

Even though this is on stock, This thread will help (maybe)
Try disabling the backup services, as they tend to run for like half an hour each time you power up your phone, or maybe it does that everyday.

I came across the same issue, where I was getting a quick battery drain. I went ahead and unticked auto sync and have wifi shut off via toggle and only turn it on when I need it. After checking the Android OS percentage, it went down by half and battery life now is insane, once in sleep mode, it preserves a lot of battery. I was at 100% at 8:15 am yesterday morning and today I am on 72%, granted I haven't used the phone that much but prior to the previously mentioned steps, I would probably be recharging as we speak!
Start BetterBatteryStats and check your kernel wakelocks - it could be the msm_hsic_host wakelock that is causing your battery drainage?

[SOLVED] Solution!
SOLVED!
After maaaaaaaany weeks of googling, searching, WakeLock monitoring, more searching...
I finally fixed what's causing this!
The wakelocks are named:
NlpCollectorWakeLock
NlpWakeLock
Those were the main battery drainers (those freaking suckers!).
They aren't that important to run in the background at all, it's just a location service by Google Now (you know, just so the NSA has more data from you).
It does not affect the device performance or function in any way (as far as I know but I guess it prevents Google Now from searching your location while your phone is locked).
The simple fix for all this:
Simply download "Wakelock Terminator" from the Play Store and run it. You also need Xposed for the installed module to run tho which means you also need a rooted device.
(Downside of the free version: You can only prevent one service from running unlimited wakelocks, for more you'll need the paid version. But because you'll most likely fix only the draining problem you won't need more anyways!)
Then simply go an search for "Google Play Services", tick "Prevent Wake Lock" and add the above mentioned services to the list.
After one day of doing this my phone battery lasts far longer now, draining only about 1-2% an hour instead of 8-10% as it was before.
If this worked for you please hit the "Thanks!"-Button! This is not for my own pleasure, it's for everyone else having the same issue and want to find a legit, fast, easy solution
Also, that's what the button is here for
Guys I have the c6603 model running 10.3..a.0.423...i live in india but got the phone from australia and its telstra branded. the phone has been running well until a few weeks back i started noticing the battery level going down faster than usual...i am not a heavy app user...and in the battery settings, i have noticed that "android system" is using up almost 70-80% of d battery...the rest like 'screen', android os etc. only 5-10%...this has resulted in the phone lasting hardly a day even on minimal usage. So, could anyone tell me why is the phone acting like this ? what could be the possible reason for the android system using this much battery.
Any help would be appreciated.

Here is your answer! FB is an piece of **** coded app, that is useless on non-rooted phones (Greenify is an must for even using FB app so you can terminate the app after each session).
I had the same problem with battery. I deleted fb with titanium backup and installed friends caster. With location services on and green power premium. I have two days of juce now. No greenify or other apps just green power set to switch off data and WiFi at night and during the day switch it on for 1min every 30 min. Of course when the screen is on I have the data constantly on. No games just websites, music, Tapatalk, Gmail and phone calls plus occasional Facebook browersing using friends caster.

I have just received my phone back from the Sony Repair Centre and seem to be suffering the same issue only more acute. The battery drain is so fast that I can't even charge it unless it is totally switched off, even with the screen off a no apps running it will only charge 8% overnight and with the screen on that 8% will drain in a few minutes.

I'm not sure, it's a C6603, if that helps. I only got the phone originally in about July and it stopped working, wouldn't switch on or respond to any input. They returned it to me working, albeit with the SIM missing, but it had 44% charge, so I put it on charge. It actually seems to be getting worse, I've now switched it off in an effort to get it to charge faster, but having been on charge for several hours it's only up to 56% from 22%, I would guess that's in 7 hours.
Attention!
Guys I just came across this battery issue with samsung s3 users. They have this file "gsiff_daemon" which is giving them battery problems same as ours. the file comes under the name of Android System. Have a look at it and read about it on google. They have a post about it on xda as well.
So I checked if I could locate it in our Z's and maybe rename it or do something, but I wasn't able to locate it even after using ES File explorer. Maybe it is present under some other name and is probably the reason our "Android System" is using up 70-80% of the battery life.
I request some advanced users here to look into the problem and see if they can help us.
Background process limit
Hi all,
Trying this (Background process limit), i think will work, because now i see a lot of more processes in background than in previous releases ( wasting our batery and internet conection..)
I had the same issue in upgrade in a previous release and i solved activating the limitation of background process .
I am trying this solution now
To limitated, go into developer options
Then the 2 option beggining by the end , Background process limit.
I have put 2 process at most

okey ill give it a try & tell u if it works or not have a gud day
Please don't mess with the background process limit. It will have a negative effect on your phone's multitasking and will not increase battery life at all. In fact, it may decrease battery life because cached processes will be regularly removed from RAM and have to reload themselves.
The option is in the developer options for a reason. You shouldn't be touching anything in there if you don't understand what it is.
It's sad to see uninformed nonsense like that posted here when this is supposed to be a place for people to learn how their phone works. ?

problem solved
its not about the software (as many forums try to imply): I went to a lab to replace the battery and now the phone works like expected. runs a full day. not few hours.

Hey guys! Sorry to bother you (Again) but I have some serious issues with my battery. First; My phone won't go to deep sleep, Second; When using phone, I think my cpu is locked in 200mhz.
I have same problem pretty much with every rom. And I know that people will say check wakelocks etc. but I don't understand that stuffand I'd like to learn.
Because of those problems my battery won't last more than 8 hours! Which is really bad
Please help! Thanks!

Am I missing something here?
When I install the various .cab files that mamaich and others have posted to the wiki they install to the standard 60.30mb "storage" memory and not to the 123.15mb "program" memory.
Is this correct? or is there a way to install them to the Program Memory?

U just answered urself. Download wakelock checkers in playstore. Or just flash a rom and dun download anything. Then install a few per day and narrow down the app.

Give a thank if i helped you.
i have the same problem since i've updated to android 4.3 (officially, no root).
Since the update, my phone doesn't go into deep sleep at all because of the wakelock mdm_hsic_pm0
Does anyone know what that could be? No wifi/wlan, no gps, LTE is working 95 % of the time in my area and theres no other wakelock like fast_dormancy that keeps my phone awake.
I've tried to close almost every app in the manager, from google play services to the dropbox app, everything.
The wakelock still shows and keeps my phone alive all the time: goes from 100 % to 25 % at night - 9 h without touching the phone.
In 2 Weeks it happened to me two times that the wakelock dissappeared without me knowing what i possibly did to remove it.
It also happened two or three times that the battery didnt charge until i tried another charger - then the old one worked again too.
Got the same problem right now... This mdm_hsic_pm0 does not my phone to go to deep sleep...

Check battery in settings and see if shows media server

in my case,it is indeed the media server that drains a lot.is there no was to disable that service/the drain without pulling out the additional sdcard?
it shouldn`t act like a media server,it is only there for storage :cyclops:
Did anyone find a solution?
I am also suffering from mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelocks keeping my phone awake 95% of the time. (Which results in about 8% battery drain per hour.)
Media server does not show up.
Read somewhere formatting yur extsd might help. Might be wrong though. No harm trying. Backup all contents before formatting extsd.
