Hi all, I am just about to buy this device, however I don't have any interest in sense 5. Are there any stock android ROMs out at the moment? I see plenty of ones with sense 5
Thanks

You can found some AOSP/AOKP rom here.
But you will lose zoe function, boomsound and other stuff.
And, just curiosity, why buy a one if you will android stock?
Hold on to your money and wait for the newest Google phone.

Finally got an N7 coming tomorrow, really excited, rooting and bootloader seems so simple. However, choosing my future rom and kernel isn't as easy, any inspiration welcomed and appreciated =)

Welcome!
The N7 is my first Nexus device and with my other android devices so far I've gotten used to flashing many different aosp/aosp roms to get that pure android experience i like. With the N7 on stock rom I was almost disappointed that aside from rooting it I had no great need to do anything else initially -stock vanilla android is really great for me!
After about one month with my N7 i switched to the aosp 4.2.2 codefirex SR12 and now it's perfect for me: vanilla aosp 4.2.2 with lots of optimizations making it one of the speediest tho bugfree aosp builds out there.
In any case I would reccomend that after unlocking bootloader, installing recovery and rooting you give the stock rom some time so you have a good reference point for judging other roms on the unit...
I hope you enjoy your N7 as much as I am!
btw here is the thread for the cfx aosp 4.2.2 rom:

Thanks Jet, my favourite kind of roms on the galaxy note was the minimal stock roms to squeeze a little extra out the battery while, slightly improving gaming FPS, what kernel are you running with codefirex?

Hey, I know this has been asked before, but no one seems to be answereing clearly, when can we expect AOSP roms on the HTC One, like, are we waiting for something? Or is it just that no ones tried yet?

lol nice
but I'm wondering why you'd go AOSP on this... the allure of this phone is the Zoe camera, the sense 5.0, and then software features... otherwise it's just a nice phone with a good design
I love AOSP and all, but stock experience is something I'd rather have on a phone with crappy UI (like the RAZR HD).
I love sense tbh, and ideally I'd like a de-sensed Rom, so I can keep the camera and such, but I think aosp looks soo much nicer, it's soo clean and smooth, and you can also get the newest features without having to wait months for HTC

Not to mention CRT and six axis compatibility.

Technically, but only if we get S-OFF so that the kernel doesn't have to be locked to whatever version of ROM that HTC has released.

Not for me. The allure of this device is it's hardware (CPU/GPU, metal unibody design, etc). I could care less about the camera since I rarely take pictures. And you can get cutting edge software enhancements that the OEMs can't/won't supply you with CM10.1.
If they come out with a VZW version, that's the first thing I'm going to do, is try and get CM10.1 on it (maybe at CM11 by this time).
Currently there are no "custom" ROMs, as I'd term them. Right now, they're are just optimizations of Sense 5. When ROMs like AOKP and CM start popping up for the HTC One, will it be difficult to get the stock Sense camera app on them? That's the only thing I'm worried about in relation to switching to a non-Sense ROM. All the HTC optimizations and features for the camera will be lost with the stock Android camera app.
Will it be as easy as sticking the APK on the new ROM? Or will it require some real work?
HTC camera requires sense framework which isn't present in Aosp/aokp Roma

Well, that sucks. I really can't switch to an non-Sense ROM if I'm going to lose all the camera optimizations. Hopefully someone can figure it out.
Yea I always wished the camera was better on vanilla roms, but I find myself always switching back to sense roms because of the camera. I havent used a nexus 4 persay so I can't comment on that

Hey guys, its an humble request. Can any1 port the stock roms of Xperia Z, Htc One or Galaxy S4? I know its tough, but any person with dev skills can do it ! I have no knowledge about porting roms. As these devices are on 4.2.2, it wont be that tough. So please try and let us know what you think. We will be more than grateful if sm1 does it.

Do you realize how large the s4's touchwiz even is? Sounds like a horrible idea.

It might be big, but galaxy nexus has it. So its not impossible. And we can always try out new things

I don't think you realize what kind of work porting these roms means. These are huge projects, and not every developer that works with aosp is capable to do that. These roms have different frameworks...to name one of the major difficulties (This is not the same what making a nice theme) Anyway, Sense project has already been started. It doesn't boot yet unfortunately. And as far as I remember Galaxy Nexus doesn't have fully working ports.

Yea man, i do realise its a big headache to port. N it will take ages to port . but if some developers chip in, it might be possible.

Possible yes, probably not. It's not just that Android versions have to be same, the hardware has to be similar too. Even then it would need months of work, experimenting, etc. Optimus g is almost the replica of the nexus 4 , even then porting LG ui is not complete. That's how hard it is.

Exactly and here we're talking about three different and sometimes by far more complex ports (not to mention different screen resolutions). Possible in theory? yes! I do like the idea very much. However probability to build a daily driver is rather very low. Every single project would take simply too long.
writing [request] in the thread title doesn't mean it's gonna happen
Yup i agree, its a long way to get these roms working! But its not impossible and we have a pretty awesome devs lineup and an awesome community as well

It seems slg1119 from the at&t optimus g thread managed to port htc sense 5.0 and make it boot but, besides touch everything else doesn't work. It's a start and maybe someone could port that for the nexus 4.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353971
there are a lot of proprietary stuff in those roms. it's not gonna happen. use icon packs, 3rd party lockscreen apps etc.. to replicate a sense or touchwiz feel, but you'll never get those air gesture, smart stay and what else features.
i respect that some people like those OEM skins, but i know i would never flash a sense or touchwiz rom even if there were totally bug free ports available for my nexus. Since the galaxy nexus days, it's clean vanilla for me all the way.
A sense 5 port would be cool
if we can get s4 camera feature only is that possible or htc's
It would be cooler to be able to port the actual apps to the nexus. Like porting the framework to work on the nexus 4 ROMs. I personally do not need all that bloatware from Samsung/Sony or HTC.

Well I don't know which roms are good. Been out of the loop for a little while. I have 4.4.2 kit Kat with sense 6.0. Not sure if I want to keep kit Kat or go to jelly bean. I don't want lollipop tho. I know I want hotspot and usb tethering. I want stable and fast Rom for performance and games. I also have twrp. Sprint version cdma

Thank good we have a lot good roms [emoji2] [emoji2]
You should think what rom you want, gpe, sense 6, sense 7 etc. And then look if they have any bugs. I have used a lot of them and recently artmod, arhd, insertcoin and all of them are perfect. I currently have insertcoin and I m good with it.
Hope you will find the rom you want [emoji4]
I've tried many of them, all of them are excellent. I always end up going back to a Kitkat Sense based rom, it's all a personal preference thing but I just find 4.4 Sense roms a little more stable and much better for battery life. Plus there are a lot more mods for Kitkat roms than Lollipop, but that's changing it appears. I suppose we have to remember the M7 is getting older now and newer roms are pushing the hardware harder than before.
