sense is overriding nova launchers default setting - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I wanted to use nova launcher Prime on my phone but I realized that even if its set to default the lock screen still has my sense folders and what not and if I drag the folder it launches sense and clears novas default. any suggestions on if there is a sense "launcher"I can freeze. HTC told me basically im SOL and I asked him about freezing a specific app and he began to argue with me about voiding warranty blah blah. HTC can get hit by a bus for all I care at this point, I just want to be able to customize my phone the way I want it.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

One touch lock app?

I was wondering if there was a one touch lock app. I guess in a way it's similar to the iphone? Just press the widget and the phone's lockscreen engages. I dont want to press the power button all the time. I also have the screen on the quickest time out but sometimes find my phone doing weird things in my pocket lol. I've tried as many apps I could find but none of them seem to fit my needs.
I found one that does what I want but according to the reviews, people have problems with it and can't uninstall it. I dont really wanna take that chance.
Description from appbrain:
Lock Screen Widget
Locks your phone with one click iPhone-style.
Before uninstalling widget make sure to disable admin permissions in Location & security > Select device admin > Lock Screen Widget
So does anyone know of such an app?
Also how does one go about disabling the admin permissions in android 2.1 if I do decide to install the lock screen widget?
Thanks
I've got that installed. Works great. My power button stopped working when I replaced my digitizer.

You quoted the name of the app and instructions for how to use it................. search the market for "Lock Screen Widget" ..............
So I did but did you read the reviews? People can't uninstall it. I dont know about you but I can't find the admin permissions if I do need to uninstall it (obviously our phone doesnt have "location and security" it just has location and security listed separately but no "select device admin"). Maybe I'm looking under the wrong setting? Maybe I should've said I'm looking for something similar...

I installed it and was able to uninstall it as well. The instructions are right on the market page for the widget about disabling it in 'Select Device Administrators', but I have no idea why you wouldn't have that option.
Are you using the stock rom?
Yes I am using the stock rom. I'm guessing the device admin is in froyo.
I guess maybe I should get CM6 lol..
thanks for the info

You can use Tasker to build your own widget for this.

[Q] custom shortcut app to app/settings?

So, the other day I was working. Great story, huh.. Anyways, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and I noticed my Clockr date widget had magically turned on it's background (I have it set to transparent), So I went to fix it, but when I clicked it, Spare parts came up?!? I thought maybe I must have just clicked something else, But the next 8 times I clicked it, the same results came up.
So, I'm wondering if there is some kind of custom shortcut to have a widget linked to a different app. Apparently, my pocket is smarter than me and knows how to do this. If there is such a thing, I would like to know about it here is a screenie so you can see that I didn't just click spare parts.
Im kinda confused but if you're asking how to make custom settings shortcut, just hold down finger somewhere empty on the screen and you can set it up.

Yeah, not anything close to what I said. I'm also pretty sure if I didn't know how to create a custom SHORTCUT like you said, I should not have rooted my phone.. Anyways I'm guessing my phone just glitched and what I'm trying to find out doesn't exist yet, due to the large number of responses I got
Beautiful Widgets has options to open diff apps when touching diff areas of the clock/weather widget. Its in the settings somewhere to change it.

Can I save the home screens/Scene?

Hellow fellow forumers, can you help?
On my Desire it was possible to save the homescreens/scene as sometimes icons would go missing and it was easy to revert back to how it was.
but today I've upgraded to the MiniSG3 and have arranged all my icons on my 5 homescreens, and realised i cant find the "save Screen" option anywhere.. am i missing it?
Or is there an app I need?
Cheers

press power + menu for 3 second.....simultaneously....
I think it's not impossible to do it with TouchWiz. You need another launcher.

Install titanium backup and make a backup of the app, it's data and you'll have what you want.

That seems to only do a screen grab. (but a great tip anyway as i needed to know that too)
kinda shocked to hear its not super easy to do such a basic thing especially since a 3 year old phone had the ability to save a homescreen layout.
Ill look into titanium, or.... just make sure i dont accidentally delete my icons
thanks for the replies forumers.
vonuzu is right it won't even take you five minutes
ah, I've just seen that titanium requires root..
now that's something new to me :-/
Ahh don't rush into that. Before you try anything download kies to your pc and back up your phone. All drivers will download automatically when your phone is connected. Then unplug and set usb debugging in developers options to on, reconnect phone and more drivers will download. Do this before you follow any guides on how to root your phone it will save you a lot of hassle
Do you have i8190N because root then is very easy?

Why not using custom launcher like Apex, Nova, Holo, etc? It is much more customizable. I use Holo 3D

Blinkfeed?

Hi.
Is there a way to carousel your home screen and other screens so that blinkfeed is not always stuck <- far left?
Thanks for your ideas, Ste.

no, this is not possible, there's even no custom-rom that is able to edit blinkfeed, because it's integrated in sense.

The only thing you can do with it on custom launchers is get rid of it completely or turn it into an icon with MoDaCo toolkit. And simply open blinkfeed by tapping the icon. But in doing so it switches you back to sense launcher

Not trying to be rude, but having used htc's/sense for years, sense was always very 'hackable', im sure this is possible one way or the other, the 'problem' is that most people just dislike blinkfeed so much they wont even try and alter it.
For example (though only a few) this is one (of several) thread(s) about modding sense, theres no reason we couldnt edit blinkfeed.

Android 4.3: No way to disable the lock screen anymore?

Just upgraded to Android 4.3 (stock HTC ROM) and there must be a bug because I can no longer disable the lock screen. I'm not talking about the pin/pattern lock screen but the swipe up to unlock lock screen (with the icons in the bottom). If I go to Settings > Security and chose to disable the lock screen it doesn't make any difference.
Can someone else please confirm that this is a bug before I wipe my phone?
Doesn't look like a bug, looks like HTC is being responsible and not allowing a phone to not have any security on it. Makes sense IMO

Exactly! And when you bundle your favourite apps in groups on the dock you can just swipe up that folder to get access to it. Quite nifty I would say

My guess is that they removed a lot of things (in 5.5) because most people didn't even use them or know about them. I don't see why you wouldn't want a lock screen though xD

Well, if there is an option for something that doesn't do anything I consider it a bug. Swipe-to-unlock doesn't add a lot of security imho.

The thing is that the options is there but doesn't do anything. I have my phone 95% of the time on my desk/table next to me and I just find it unnecessary to unlock with a button and then swipe. Whenever I leave home I have it in a tight case so there is no risk on me touching buttons by misstake.

Oh, I see what you meant above now.. But the point is, for a lot of folks the lock screen is pointless. It's just an uneccesary extra step to get to what you want on your phone. Especially now that most phones have pocket detection so there's no worries of pocket dialing anymore. I personally find it annoying and not at all needed. Just one less thing to waste my time and battery.
I guess i can see the usefulness of it though in some situations, I.E. Nosy girlfriend/boyfriend mainly. Lol

I understand what you're saying, and I don't use any sort of security on my phone, but I'd still prefer to have the slide to unlock as opposed to nothing at all. I suppose it's each to their own but IMO HTC have decided to take the option out to possibly cover themselves from unhappy customers - I dunno...
HTC_001 just got the update and now being forced to have a lock screen when it doesn't add any security seems a waste of time, everyone knows how to unlock a phone so it's not going to stop anyone getting in, the choice should be left up to the end user, default it to on and that should cover them enough. Next they'll force everyone to have a pin to unlock their phone.
No Lock app works fine and the fact 1-5mill people have downloaded it shows that they have made a mistake here.
No lock, no thanks
Works awful. Just used it for about 5 minutes and it made my phone behave erratically. Seeing as it hasn't been updated for years, it's no surprise. Good luck with it...couldn't even launch apps from the notifications screen without it loading the home screen, locking it and then turning the screen off. Disabled it and then removed it and all is right again on my phone.
Why not accept peoples wish
No lock works fine - and about the security issues people have here:
I never lock my phone with a pattern, pin, code or something.
If you keep sensitive data on it - your fault. You know that it is public if it is on your phone (as we learned from the NSA).
If you don't, leaving your phone unlocked gives you at least the chance that if you loose it and an honest person finds it, he or she will be able to return it to you by contacting "Mum" or "Sweety" from the Contacts. An unhonest person would simply factory-reset it. Right?

Been working perfect on my phone (and others members here) for months. There's no need to update an app often when it does such a simple task. Does exactly what it says. Couldn't ask for anything more from it.

You obviously don't program. And it's great that it works for you, however it is apparent from the thread and the comments in the play store that the app has issues. The app certainly doesn't work for me on multiple devices. So I could certainly ask for more, seeing that it simply doesn't work reliably at all in my testing. But since it looks to be abandoned it's not something I expect. That's not a big deal for me at all because it's an app I simply tried but not one I plan on using.
