Please forgive my ignorance, this is my first android phone....I'm trying to install the Helper in Secure Settings so I can toggle gps in Tasker, and it said I need an app called BusyBox. However, I'm unable to install BusyBox from the BusyBox app I got at the place store. "Smart Install" says the installation failed, and "Normal Install" just reboots my phone. How do I correctly install BusyBox?
Rooted HTC One running 4.1.2
Have you rooted your device first? Becoz without root you can't install busy box on your device.. so Google how to root..

Yep, my device is currently rooted. Still running the stock ROM though if that makes a difference
I'd like to know the answer to this too..

From what I have been reading, you need to disable system write protection first. Refer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230341
After that you can install Busybox.
If you're already rooted then the titanium backup app available via play store has an option that will automatically install busybox
Alternatively you could use this free busybox installer app from play store

hello friends.. I'm Facing wearied problem with superuser...i'm using viper Inc's 2.1.1 with redux 0.8...When i try to run any root app super user dosent prompt for Allow or Deny..it tell u dont have super user permissions...i tried to install super user from play store..when i opened app it showing "downloading Bineries" then failed...i tried to flash supersuer zip...flashed successful bt dosent shows superuser app in app drawer...i flashed rom 3 times bt every time i got same error...
Try supersu. It has almost the same functionalities and maybe it works. Otherwise try to extract the su binary from superuser zip and adb push it to system/xbin. If you do so, push apk to system/app too

it works...thanks....
That's what happened: after I edited SystemUI.apk, I put it into the sdcard. I tried to go into the / directory of my phone with x-plorer, and it didn't open. I tried with File Manager, and it said "This device has not root access". Then I downloaded Root Checker, and it also said I haven't root access.
What the hell happened? Now I have to do again the procedure for take the root access? I'm the only one who had this issue?
I still have SuperSU/overclock/custom rom... But not root...
try looking in the supersu settings, see if something changed there
R: [Q] Root access disappeared
I went back to nameless and it gave me the root access back.. The last thing I installed on Revolution was the wolfscript pack
Btw, now it's fixed

It's probably in wolfscript

There is a flashable zip you can use to get back SuperSu and binaries and is located here: Link

Thank you, russel, but now I'm with nameless..
If I add HTC_IME.apk into revolution super stripped's system folder, while I'm installing this rom, the keyboard will be installed?

I picked up two HTC One devices today as soon as the Sprint Store opened. I have as of yet not be able to download any previously purchased paid applications.
This includes several rather expensive EA games, that just say "Not Compatible with your Device" which doesn't even allow me to download to my device. (Mass Effect Infiltrator and Need for Speed shift come to mind first)
All other paid apps seem to download, but fail to install. (such as Weatherbug Elite and Minecraft Pocket Edition) I've tried from phone, as well as the Google Play website on my PC.
I'm in the US, on Sprint. Tried both WIFI and 3g.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, did you find a solution?
Thank you in advance.
For the ones that say not compatible: wait until compatibility is added. I've come across the same multiple times and some never gained compatibility with my device. That is on the app developer, not the app store
For the other issues, go to settings>apps>all
Delete cache and data for both Google play store and Google framework services and force stop both. That should fix

Thanks for the quick reply. I did both things you suggested. Once I cleared and force stopped, I had to restart the phone, as I kept getting the "No Connection" error on the Play Store, on both WiFi and Sprint.
Once I rebooted, I attempted to install another paid app, and it again failed. The error is "Couldn't Install on USB storage or SD card." (again I can install any other app that I didn't pay for)
If its important I did root, I'm running TWRP recovery and ViperRom 1.0.
Same problem on stock root Rom. My friend is unrooted and the same apps install fine

You could try installing esfile manager on your old phone that the apps work on and backing up the apps to the sd card then copy the backed up apk to the HTC one to install it might not work but I have done this many of times with my EVO 3d ans my touch pad

same here..early this evening before root my apps installed fine..but now after root those same apps will not install..Free versions do install..Im on the stock rooted deodexed rom

That's on deodexed roms only. It may be a permissions issue. The apks themselves install fine from your sdcard if you have them.

The current idea is this:
Downloading paid apps requires writing a temp file to mnt/.asec/
But the issue is, mnt is read only.
It should be fixed in no time. Vipers the man.

It's not always a temp file. In the case of Swiftkey the actual apk is in mnt/. Asec. I was able to pull it from my dna and install from my card.

After flashing back my backup Sprint ROM, I am able again to install my paid apps. Thank God I did a backup before installing another ROM. I will miss the tweaks on Vipers ROM though.
It will get fixed

Hi,
I have PhilZ-cwm6 installed with 4.12 running but I removed the SU by using Unroot_SuperUser-Busybox-Uninstaller-Update2-signed,zip application. Because an office application I want to run is not running and complaining about device being rooted.
Then I installed UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip using CWM.
But in this way SuperSu is got installed in /system and it is being detected by application and it complains about device rooted.
If I uninstall it and re-install using Play store it gives me error that SU binary is not found.
Please advise.
What I am trying to achieve is to install SuperSU in /data folder .
Thanks
Supersu is a system program, so will always install in system as it needs root access. It won't run from data AFAIK. Supersu is just an app that manages permissions. Just installing it does not give you root.

Thanks for reply But there are posts which suggest it to install in /data http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42009031&postcount=6
and people have done it.
Please advise.
It says there's an option to install it only in data in su app, have you found that?

No, if install the zip using CWM. I cant select any option there. And It automatically Installs itself in System
you may temporarily hide root for using this app
