Other than Samsung directly. Does anyone know where I can order an OEM Micro USB Cable? I think using a generic cable is causing my computer to fail to see the note 2.
Search ebay for something like Galaxy Note 2 OEM usb cable.
I just ordered a few of these.. 5ft long too.

I have had older samsung cables work with Kies. If your running a non touchwiz rom any brand of cable should work fine. But if running TW, Kies is very picky on your cable, in my experience.
I have a few "China ebay cables" and they charge the phone but fit very loose and will stop charing if moved a little bit.

I just go to Monoprice.com and get USB cables, I got a 10 FT cable I use for only $1.34.
They have one that looks kinda like the OEM one.
PS. I recomend buying in large orders when getting things from them, like get that HDMI cable you was thinking about getting and such makes the shipping price more worth it that way. Shipping can cost more than the cable!
Thx for the links Neo. Ordered a couple of 10ft USB cables and an HDMI.

i've ordered around 15 mUSB cables and haven't had a bum one yet. the 10' are a bit of a tight fit though. ordering multiple quantities is the way to go so that the shipping cost is spread out among the cables, otherwise the saving isn't significant.
now the chargers on the other hand, you'll need to get a few. i've gotten 12 with 4 bad. but at ~$1.50 each that's not too bad.

Or pay one price with a dedicated USB cable that is not going to break and a dedicated USB charger that will not break and spend completely less there's your savings.
It goes the same for micro SD cards all these people when I get the cheapest price possible and then b**** and complain and moan how is not working or it got fried or failed. Because now they would have to purchase the real one that may have cost a little more but if they had just bought the real in the first place they would have saved more.

with my purchase i have a cable for nearly every where i'll need one. no need to spend more just to get a "monster cable" type that's based on the same standards as my ~1.50 cable. if you feel better spending more money to get the same working stuff i got then go ahead and defend your purchase.
but like i said i won't buy chargers from them any more. powergen has been pretty good for me and they run about $10 each.

No, because the shipping usually cost as much as the cable it's self, 2 or more cables usually only add like a few cents to the shipping cost.
They also have a warranty on there cables and replace them for free if you do get a bad cable and that's only been once in a 5 year period that I had to use there warranty.

I spent a total of 10 bucks okay for an OE charger as well this is in total a heavy duty USB cable no problems at all and I don't need a warranty because they don't have issues.
I don't need 10 cables laying around that's just nonsense its the same thing why people buy the 0 lemon battery why have three to four batteries having to swap them out when they die when you can just settle for one battery for about the same price if not cheaper and not have to worry about turning your phone off and on to swap out the battery.
I have to USB cables 1 is the BlackBerry cable and the other is just the OEM.

Wait till it craps out. I'm glad it works right now. why do you gotta be cheap about everything. Because I love the people that will buy anything at a cheaper cost let's say something happens and no warranty for it and complain that is not getting fixed. I see people do this all day with car radios they buy everything from Sonic Electronix and then complain when they bring it to the manufacturer that something is wrong and then they don't offer a warranty for it because of the fact that they purchased it from a third party that isn't an authorized retailer

Higher price != better quality. See: Beats by Dre.
In fact, quite a lot of people have had issues with the OEM cable. There's a thread in the General section about slow charging where the culprit, for many people, is an OEM cable giving out. My OEM cable which came with the phone now supplies 160mA. 1/10th of stock.

I'm not really cheap about a lot. I saw that thread someone posted with the eBay sale of the 64gb card for $30 and bought it just to see what would happen. I have a 128gb normal sd card but it doesn't fit in my hunterf case with the adaptor. it's a legitimate PNY card you would see at best buy for twice the price or more. doesn't mean it has any more chance of failing compared to one you would get at best buy.

F*** that s*** dude beats by dre is just retarded overhyped mainstream BS. The bass sucks completely the treble is harsh its just complete crap all together it's overpriced on top of that.
I have a pair of in ear monitors that are $80 by Klipsch which they're called the s4 and they do much better job than any beats by dre or Soul by Ludacris crap.
If you wanna talk about audio then you're going to have to go with brands like Westone, Klipsch, Sennheiser, Shure, JH Audio, 1964 Ears, Ultimate Ears, VSonic, etc...
Car audio: Focal, JL Audio, Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, and some JBL/Infinity.

I know, that's why I brought them up.
I personally use audio-technica ATH-M50s, modded to have a 3.5mm stereo jack rather than the normal coiled cable. Got a v-moda cable to go with it which has a mic and music controls.
There is definitely a subjective element to all this. I think what the person is saying about getting ten cables is more about convenience, and economics. Monoprice lowers the cost for bulk orders. The shipping for some items is fix despite the number order, thus more you order, the lower shipping per unit. We all get that.
His other point, why drag a cable and charger around all day, when he can just leave a cable or charger to the places he frequents most such as the car, work, home, friend's house, gym, and so forth. Plus, if they cable is good, you'll probably get to use on other devices that charge via microUSB, which most like aslo be the next smartphone. Personally, I have chargers and cables in the car, work, school backpack, home, and laptop bag. Some are from previous devices, other are ones I bought.
It's similar logic to the ZeroLemon battery. It's just what is more convenient for that person.
But given his record, it's about right what is standard manufacturing fail rate, which is targeted for three to five percent, or less. Even the most expensive equipment can have bad units. And given Monoprice cheap prices, if you get one bad unit out of ten, no one is going to care if they rest still work as expected.
On a personal note, I've been ordering from Monoprice for around four years. I haven't had any issues with their cheap cables. They're cheap, but they work.

Well as soon as I woke up today I went online to by some streak accessories, but while on the site I could only find the car kit. So I started a chat and they told me that the accessories were only available if you purchased a Streak at the same time. That was bs so I told the girl I bought mine from Dell.Uk ( Ebay ) and then she set me up with a purchase window. $76 later though I am feeling some buyer's remorse. I'm trying to rationalize by telling myself I will keep this phone until Froyo at least and that giving away my iPhone4 was worth it all. <sigh> So far it has been good I guess.......

Thats funny, I did the same thing!!! I had to give my wife the iPhone 4 so I could get the Streak. I pre-ordered mine as soon as I woke up!!! I was a little upset that I had to spend an additional $100 to get the home and car docks, you would think they could throw one of them in for the $300 price tag... Oh well, I cant wait until tuesday! Hopefully it will be worth every penny of the $450 I paid

if yours is a uk streak you can download 2.1 now? releasted today in the uk... check the other thread for the link!
I did not purchase a Streak yesterday but did indeed purchase the car docking kit and the home docking stations. Considering from the home docking station you will have hdmi out, it is well worth it
But yes a complete ripoff for just a piece of plastic. The car docking kit was a decent price

The home AV dock is a quality piece of kit, way better build quality than the ones I've bought from SE & HTC in the past. Don't knock it til you've seen one! Having said that the price is still shocking

I've had the home dock for about a week now and I am very happy with it. It is a quality piece of equipment. I never have to fumble getting it in there like with the regular charger. Slides right in every time! Sits perfect height next to my monitor. I love it and have almost entirely forgotten that I paid over $70 for it.
With the PDMI connector, I find it hard to connect the USB cable. I have read the reason for the PDMI, and perhaps the hard fit is to help stabalize multiple sized devices on one port.
I read that the Slacker G2 radio uses a similar/same connector and has a dock of sorts(mini usb charging and line-out) for around $30. No HDMI, but for charging on my desk, it would be nice.
Anyone know whether it will be compatible?

It's pricey, yes. But it's solid, looks very nice, it's not as annoying as plugging the cable every time, and it does not require powered-on PC to charge, or replugging to wall socket.

***UPDATED in post #40 & #58.....THEY WORK!!!***
Have to wait until the CNY (Chinese New Year) is over to get it in, but after sending an OEM cable & spec'ing the cable with one of my contract manufacturers in China..we should finally have an economical solution Especially for those of you outside of the US (since it seems you pay more).
The finished cable (30pin PDMI to USB) sample should be sent to me on the 14th of Feb, and will take a few days to get here (US). Once it does, and is tested to work...I will be placing a large qty order. They also have compatible car charger adaptors, but not sure I want to pick those up as well. Have to wait and see how well the cables are received by the community.
I'll update the thread when I get the sample in.
Hope they work! If they do you can count on me to order at least 2, you can never have too many cables!
count me in also,
Sounds great. Any idea of price at this point?

It would be nice to have an AV dock that also will compete with the official Dell's than getting a Slacker G2 that isn't made for the Streak
+1 If the price is right and they work, I'm interested.
Thanks for the post!
I'd be interested as well.
Tag me in for 4 of them
very cool.. I sucked it up and ordered an extra cable, car dock, and slacker dock.. but I might consider getting an spare in case I lose one or the one in my car finally breaks..
i would definitely buy 2 if price is right and it works

Sigh...
Feb. 14th is the date Dell just emailed me to tell me is now my new "adjusted" shipping date for the order I placed on January freaking 24th for $43.38 for 2 cables! I've NEVER in my life had to wait this long for something to ship, especially for freaking cables! They should have millions in stock! Anyway...
I'll prolly buy 1 or 2 of these cables if they're good.
Will these be longer than the 6 inch long (or should that be short?) cables Dell provides? Too short to plug into my USB port on my PC, too short to charge in my car while talking. Poor design, poor design... Dell really fell short on this phone and its accessories and advertising. I LOVE the phone, but come on...
I'd be in for an order of at least 2 also!
I also love the suggestion of a PDMI -> iPod/iPhone connector/bridge.
Ideally it could stretch across the whole bottom of the streak (or at least the width of an iPod/iPhone) the so that the streak would sit flush with any idocks.
I went onto the samsung website (canadian version) and checked some of the prices for note2 accessories and I was blown away how expensive they are. You'd think samsung would realize if they priced their accessories at a reasonable more people would purchase them.
for example $39.99 for their Note2 TPU cover. $49 for their MHL adapter. Before ebay or online shopping I could see companies charging these outrages prices but with ebay and the like who would buy some of this stuff from samsung when you can get less expensive versions?
Stuff up here is definitely more expensive than the states.

My thought process: "Well, what's the difference between spending $200 or $300 on a phone when I'm paying thousands for the service? Might as well get the best one. And why did I buy a phone with removable battery and storage if I'm not going to buy a spare battery and spare battery charger, and a 64 gig microSD? Wow... I've got a lot invested in this thing. Better buy a case for every day use, and a tank of a case for when I go out. What's this... an app that I will use every day of my life for only $5? You are right to tell people to be wary of the price, Especially in the case Custom Duties i.e. vat to added [collected at this end by PO], plus the minimal £8 Post Office Charge.

TheQuest
Samsung is expensive because they guarantee the products will fit and work 100% with the phone plus every manufacturer always charges more for their respective products. Example: htc charged around $40 for their mhl adapter and $50 or more for their tv dock. It's just a matter of finding items cheaper and hoping that if you buy generic it won't damage your phone and fits correctly. There are plenty of reputable companies that make accessories you can count on. Like otterbox, seidio, spigen, and many others.

Lol what you said about "what's the difference between spending $200 or $300 on a phone when I'm paying thousands for the service" is so true for me. I have to always buy the best phones out. Unless the phone was alooooooot cheaper, as in free, I would never choose a S2/N1 over S3/N2.

So you think a $50 MHL cable is fine when it probably cost them 50 cents (maybe a dollar) to make in china. I'm all for a company making money/profit but that's kind of ridiculous.
For cases, I always hit up ebay. For the same price as a retail case, you could buy a dozen and try them all out!
For cables, chargers and batteries, however, I've been very hesitant to get them "cheap" because of the risk of damaging my device. After reading an article about various chargers and usb cables which showed that the third party/counterfeit brands have no consistency to them, I've stayed with trusted oem brands.

I hear you. Yet I can't seem to stop shopping for an "even better case". I think I will draw a line at Sweet armor bumper though. Just a frame, not even total back protection and 70 USD?

Sweetest case in my collection. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

Wait until you see the "Australia" price, then you will know what truly outrage is.
Why are genuine apple accessories?
Why do dealerships sell spark plugs for 5 times the price of an auto store?
It's genuine oem, and they are all overpriced.

The actual Asus Nexus 7 dock is near impossible to find, and those retailers that do get it in stock - especially the unscrupulous money grubbing bastard ones - will jack the price up to 2-3x the retail value because a) they know people want it pretty bad and b) they know people will pay it.
If you can't wait to get one, you're going to get screwed on the price, that's just how it goes. Asus ain't crankin' 'em out in serious volume, that much is obvious, but since the stock dock doesn't support USB connectivity (it just charges and provides for audio out) I have zero use for the thing. They should have added a few more contact points on the Nexus 7 and given us some actual data transfer capability, then it would be worth even the $40 retail price on the thing.
As it is, it's not worth it, even at a discount, at least not to me.
Has anyone bought this package? I was looking for extra batteries on Ebay and ran across this one. The seller has a good rep. I still wanted to ask here tho if anyone bought this, or what your thoughts would be considering this is three batteries and a charger, for very cheap.

U may want to go for a rep. Battery co. Rather than any cheap Chinese.......I m sure You don't want them to blow on you

I caved and bought it anyway. The seller has a good rating and that is everything on Ebay.

Sellers tend to have good rating for the quality of their service, not necessarily for the quality of their products.
$13 isn't bad though.. you should have maybe at least 6500mah combined from those three batteries.

I agree. Still, you would get a lot of negative feedback, especially concerning batteries. A lot of people have bought that, so I took a chance. I will definitely update this thread once I get them. =-}
It is insanely easy to falsify ebay ratings.

Yea, I know. But if I thought like that I would never order anything online from anyone.
Just ebay. Verified buyers on amazon are actually pretty good.

I have a suspicion some of the sellers on Amazon get their shady rating count as well. It takes a second to create merchant account on Amazon and list anything already sold in there under the original manufacturer listing. Since I talk to a lot of accessories companies, a number of them complain about people selling fake ones under the same listing (very common with Spigen, UAG, Samsung batteries/headphones/chargers, and others). So you have to be very careful who is the actual seller of the product when you click to buy it. I notice some sell fake stuff, it's clearly listed as seller from China, and they got 100k feedback rating?!?
Personally, I try to look for those who sell with Prime option since it's covered by Amazon and often an OEM part they have in their warehouse.

Ebay can be pretty good if you know how to check feedback. Almost everything I buy is from there (laptop, phone, fresh fruits).
Yes let us know how good they are. I have a $6 glass screen protector coming in a few weeks that I'll post pictures too of so people can compare to the $30 brand name ones. I love comparing generic chinese sold products to the brand name ones. In many cases they are very similar expect one has a fancy badge and price tag
I also got a micro USB to HDMI adapter last night for my Note 2, and one of those 3 in 1 lens kits for it. The lens kit was only $7 with free shipping. I watched several Youtube vids regarding it, and for that price you can recod some pretty amazing footage.
I'll also update you all on those as I get them. =-}

Any update about the quality of the battery, especially compared with original battery? These look like genuine Samsung batteries, but for the price I doubt that. Thanks!
Did you read the power output from the charger? It's too less.

I noticed that. Wouldn't they just trickle charge then? I don't know alot about electricity. Just as long as it's not too much power.

With wall charger you get ~1600mA which charges device in about 2.5hrs . The output of the one u bought is 1/4th (400 max) of the external charger so it would take 4x times longer than it would have taken with the wall charger(10 hours ) .
i dont know much about electrical stuff . I hope am wrong cuz i have already bought a spare battery and thinking of buying the samsung external charger but 50$ is way too much. Im getting it at 39.9$ but stilll too much
Do keep us updated.

Well, there are three batteries so I won't need them to charge in a hurry.

Bought something similar once, the charger works fine. But the batteries expanded to nearly twice there normal thickness in the center so obviously they weren't usable any more
