My phone was rooted and I tried installing the update to my HTC One Developer Edition. The device is now stuck on the black screen with HTC logo in the middle and 4 exclamation points (in triangles) on the 4 corners. I tried running the RUU but it can't find the device and when I try to run it via the command prompt using the zip file I get the error code "failed (remote 90 hboot pre-update please flush image again immediately)." Does anyone have experience with this and is there ANY way I can unbrick my device without sending it back to HTC for repair!? I'm really frustrated but thanks in advance.
EDIT: I also can't get into the bootloader by holding down power down and the power button. It just reboots into the same screen.

You can power off your device ?
If so, try to hold vol down, hit power to power on your device and do not release vol down.
If not, I just can tell you to wait it's run off battery, plug it in and do what i said. I had more or less the same issue and i have managed to go into the bootloader.

No I can't power down the device. I can reboot it but it just reboots into the same screen. When you say you had the same issue, you let the battery run out and then did what exactly?

Go to Settings, then Power. By default, fast boot box will be checked. Uncheck that box. Then power off the phone and then, power+volume down buttons will get you into bootloader

Hello, I've recently just got this phone off someone to fix for them. It's in the constant bootloop. I can get into the bootloader, which is locked and has S-ON. However, if I try to navigate down it restarts as soon as it highlights recovery. If I navigate up, it will open up the show barcode, and exit out of it and sometimes highlight the image crc and attempt to display it. It restarts however very soon after. This phone has not been rooted or has been flashed at all.
Stuck of ideas at the minute on what to do to fix this guys phone, I don't believe he has warrenty on it either .
Any help would much be appreciated! Want to try and get this fixed.

That's the first option i'm able to get to at the top, I press the power button to select it however it just resets the phone. I presume this isn't suppose to happen and the fastboot hasn't work?
Wait, sorry. If I press Vol Up, then Vol down again, it auto selects it. However, I can't select the options in the new menu.
Sorry again, it also doesn't seem to have a fastbootUSB mode? Unless it does that when it restarts?

Bugger. I'll mess with it a bit more in hopes of reviving it. Cheers for the help though
If "fastboot" turns to "fastbootUSB" you will probably be OK. Try entering RUU mode from fastboot with the command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" If you get this far you will just need to apply a full RUU image, which will reinstall everything, including the boot loader itself.

I can't seem to get to that, the phone restarts itself pretty much around 5-7 seconds being in the bootloader itself.
The only other reason i can imagine this happening is maybe because the battery is knackered.

Good point, the power button does seem a bit further in this one, than I have seen in other M7s. This may sound silly, but it clicks when I push it down, but have no idea how to properly bring it up.

unfortunately, i have no idea how to fix the button, but if your phone is behaving as if it's being continually pressed that would explain the reboots.
to verify, just enter bootloader, don't do anything (but be in a well lit environment), if it reboots again and again, then the power button is stuck.

Yep, I'll see about trying to fix the power button then. Here's hoping!
Also, sorry. I should've added in the op that it only turns on when it's plugged into something. If i unplugged it while it's on the htc screen or bootloader, it will stay on till it does the usual reset then stay off.
If the power button is clicking I doubt it is stuck.

When the Device restarts while you're on the HTC Boot Screen, do the LED Buttons down at the bottom flash up a couple of times prior to the reset? If so, that would be conclusive with the stuck Power Button as that is (afaik) the normal behavior for a reset by pressing and holding Power.

This is correct. A hard power down will flash the home and back keys before turning off.

I've seemed to have someone fixed the phone now, it's getting into Android (after much stress trying to get it into it!). It does seem like it's the power button that is sticky, as it's locking the screen and constantly waking it up and bringing the power button menu up. Needless to say, i'm overjoyed that it's working. Now I need to find out how to fix the power button in it.

That might actually not be quite the easiest task. If anything else fails, why not try bringing it as close to stock und untempered as you can go and hand it in for a warranty repair. With a little bit of luck they will not check the software as it is obviously a hardware button defect.
I just got an M8 from someone on craigslist and I'm trying to unlock bootloader, s-off, etc to Unlock the phone.
The charging port was messed up so I replaced it to be able to charge and use the phone.
Only problem is the VOL UP button doesn't work & the VOL DOWN button works, but isn't as responsive as it should be (have to push harder than usual)
I try to boot into Bootloader with PWR & VOL DOWN, but it just boots normal. I can't seem to get it into the bootloader menu.
Any way I can force it to go into it with an app maybe? or a different method?
Any help is MUCH appreciated.
While booted to rom you could try this...
Open a cmd window from you folder that has adb/fastboot files in it and type
adb reboot bootloader
Or if you can get to recovery there is an option to reboot bootloader
Or there is an app called Quick Boot in the Playstore

I'm not rooted, so Quick Boot won't work. I'll see if I can boot it using a command, but idk if that will work
edit- tried, no profit. maybe failed at it, lol.

Been a while since I used cmd to do so, I might have to reinstall the drivers and attempt it again, but it didn't do anything when I typed it and tried
Edit- Got it working, had an outdated file, had my fasboot & adb folders mixed up with which was new and which was old. Such a silly mistake. Haha, thanks.
Well, now I can't unlock the bootloader as it won't read me pressing the PWR button on yes...
Looks like I won't get help since people. Will open.this for the issue in the thread title, but I now have a different issue and can't open a separate thread for that problem since it's apparently a duplicate thread when it's a different problem. Looks like I'll wait a week for someone to hopefully read this instead of a day or two since my new problem is something people have faced before, so someone have to have a solution for it. Guess I have to go even longer without unusable phone with service.thanks xda. Thanks.
*SOLVED* Necro bump
I have the same phone, with the same issue, so I'm replying to this ancient thread with my solution.
All my buttons work in all situations... except in fastboot. The VOL-UP key wouldn't work there and only there. Not a problem since VOL-DOWN will wrap around to the top. The problem came when I needed to unlock my bootloader again after relocking it (for unrelated reasons).
In the Unlock Bootloader confirmation screen, I could select Yes to continue, but the PWR button would not do anything
After reading another thread about how fastboot is unable to manage multiple button presses at once, it occurred to me that the VOL-UP key was somehow blocking the PWR button from firing. So, I removed the back from phone (a non-trivial procedure) and physically disconnected the volume buttons by pulling the ribbon cable second from the top on the left, pressed PWR, and viola! :victory::victory::victory: Bootloader began Unlocking. :victory::victory::victory: Hope that helps.
tl;dr; After selecting "yes" in the menu, physically disconnecting the volume button ribbon inside the phone re-enables the PWR key.

Oh my god, what was the probability of us having exactly the same problem 3 weeks apart on a 5 year old phone?!
My phone enter in bootloader for no reason, then the power button was ineffective so I could not select any action... And all of this was because of my broken volume button!
Your message save me a lot of headache, thanks a lot! :victory:
I get an fastboot: error: Command failed error.
I just want to get this thing locked back go back to normal. Any other way to do it besides fastboot?
Would going up to the beta and back down lock it?
Why do you want to lock it? With there not being an MSM Tool available, you risk a permanent brick if it's not totally stock when you lock it.
Ugh, I got it to lock and now in a bootloop. I wish I had seen your message first.
this bootloop is fast, any suggestions?

I can get it shut down, but when I turn it back on it just bootloops the moment it hits the oneplus logo. Any suggestions? Has this ever happened on the onplus 9 and the tool fixed it?

Tray diferent
power + vol down
Crazy the only thing that gets it to stop is power plus volume up and I have to time it perfectly to get it to stop flashing. Once it is shut down I hold volume down and power and it just starts looping again.
