Hey guys - quick question, and sorry if this has been answered before. I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer under FAQ or recent threads. I apologize in advance for any duplicativeness. Here it goes:
I ended up getting my One directly through T-Mobile, so it's not the HTC developer edition or unlocked model. Once I unlock/root my "TMo" HTC One, will the ROMs under the "HTC One" dev forums work, or do I have to stick to the ones posted on the "T-Mobile HTC One" dev threads? Thanks in advance.
They will work on your T mobile HTC One.

Do I need to do anything after flashing ROMs from this forum to "adjust " them to tmo radios or anything?

Hate to shamelessly bump, but can anyone confirm this?
No, tmobile varients are supported on nearly any Rom out atm

Have you seen those custom desktops, Like Stardock or Fences, that have widgets and functions you can't get in regular windows? This is far from 100% accurate but think of the rom as the skin over windows. Those never really effect your drivers(the radio) since they just tweak your GUI so as long as they can run on your hardware you'll never have to worry about them effecting your printer.
Does that make sense or is my brain fried from my self directed 36 hour crash course on this forum?

Makes enough sense. I've only ever rooted/unlocked/flashed ROMs on Nexus devices, so I just want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I dive in here. Thanks!

IDK about ARHD, but triuckdroid will ask you AT&T/INTL/T-MO before you flash, so everything works correctly. I believe all HTC Ones in the US(So Far) are the same as the INTL..... there's a thread about it somewhere.... But just make sure you have the right APN settings. P.S New radios are usually a good thing if you have bad signal all the time (WiFi/Cellular).
Has this been confirmed by anyone else?

The Nexus One runs Android 2.1 with some custom UI stuff made by HTC(/Google?). Technically the answer to your question is "yes".
If you are asking "Can the Kaiser duplicate the exact same look and feel as the Nexus One?" the answer is No.
YMMV but in my experience there are some really good Kaiser android builds in the forum here. They may not have animated wallpapers, voice search, fully functional bluetooth or camera, but very impressive for the Kaiser.
Thanks
thanks i will have a look but can anyone suggest one that has the the feel of the Nexus One because i don't no whether to buy one

If you have the option , buy one. Running Eclair on your Kaiser will not give any kind of indication at all , how the Nexus One will be. The Kaiser has a smaller screen less than half the processor speed, and will only boot from inside WM.
You will probably learn more by watching you tube videos of the Nexus One than by running 2.1 on your Kaiser.
Moved as not ROM Development.
Like others state theoretically possible but spec wise the Kaiser does not cut the mustard.
There are some new versions of 2.1 that alredy has animation working and voice search and camera the only thing different from the nexus one is the menu
Got the Nexus
i got the nexus one now it's great but I'm not gonna change any software on it because i just want to see what the actual phone software on it is like.

So wait, HOW exactly do we use this? I don't think we can boot it into an emulator...I've tried loading ROM packages into the Android emulator (for personal use only), and haven't gotten anything other than the "stock" emulator image to appear...and yes I've read through the interwebs, but I haven't figured out how to do it. Trying to do it by summer, though.

The thunderbolt is shipping with 2.2.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I know, I just read that afterwards. Sadly...it'll prob get 2.3 though (after 6 months like every other HTC phone gets updated lol).
So couple of things. This download is hugh lol and has anyone tryed the radio in it yet just woundering if maybe we might see a chance of being able to access the lte network (wishfull thinking) if no one has do it by time i get home witch i will about 9pm i will do it well see what happens lol. other than that is it really gingerbread with sense.
No Gingerbread, it ships with 2.2 (I asked that question too lol).
And I think that the 4G radio is a hardware thing, not software . Good wishful thinking though XD
yea no joke but hey new radio no telling what good it could it do though.
True that. The Mecha doesn't only run on 4G, but 3G also, so it might up our data speeds. Theoretically. I mean, it kind of makes sense for that to be the case.

The radio.img controls much more than just 3G/4G. It controls other hardware in the device, and flasing a bad radio is the only (afaik) definitive way to turn your incredible (or any other device) into a shiny paperweight.
To use the 4G network, the phone would need LTE bands in addition to the CDMA bands, which the Incredible probably doesn't have.
I remember a few months ago, however, when someone found some 4G stuff in the Incredible system files. Something about it was supposed to go to Sprint but ended up going to Verizon at the last minute. So there could be a chance the Incredible has the capability to run on LTE, I guess.
I could be completely wrong, and it's mostly just speculation, but, yeah.

I can't believe this, I left for a bit, went back to my xperia play.
put together a quick theme for my xperia play (it's so much easier to theme, it's already blue).
Then came back with my raider/vivid ready to work (xperia play is my daily now) and looks like pirategohst left, wildchild left. I'm so sad.
I was so ready to move from VJraiders rom to Pirategohost rom. but if development is dead why bother.
One thing i can say, this phone seems to not get much work on it like other devices, I have an xperia x1 (i know it's old), xperia x10, xperia play, htc evo 3d and all those devices are worked on daily. I know the raider is the newest device but....
Well enough with that, time to put to rest my raider and play with my evo 3d and play. all i need now is sony to release the xperia s and I'll be good.
Hey wildchild and pirateghost sad to see you leave and hope all is well, take care.
BYE BYE raider.
PM me if you want to make me an offer for my raider, it's from rogers.
Sad is right... I was about to buy a Raider/Vivid... But it looks as though the entire Dev community has decided to pull support... No sources, no links, no ROMS aside from Cyanogen and shipped?!?!
Sad scary day, I'll look around for XDA alternatives, but this makes me fairly upset, I've got a couple other androids at home, and there's a fair share of fighting on dev, but in the end it's about making a GOOD ROM, for yourself, and sharing it with a community... I can't fathom the flame wars that started in this forum.
Oh well, I'll wait for the HTC One series LOL
This was already a small dev community, and then the fact that a bunch of people wouldn't listen and bother taking the effort to try and read and really understand what they were doing meant they screwed up a very expensive device.
Oh well, everyone is already off to the One series.

If i change the xml's in framework res it makes sense crash after the first boot. this is what caused me to set my xperia play back up, I need a daily phone.
then i was going to try and fix what was causing the issue. i needed to be able to flash and reflash each time i mod the apk's.
Funny thing is, my raider is the fastest phone i have right now and the more i use my xperia play i really miss the speed of a dual core cpu.

Do you get the apk from the dist folder after building it on apktools? Or are you replacing the res folder on the original apk file?

I use the apk in your rom, then run it in apktools, then recompile with no errors.
I did not have an issue with version 2 of you rom.
But just to be clear, the apk's i theme are all from your rom, thats why they wouldn't work in any other rom.
They're all around if you know where to look. WC is on his own site, and I saw Pghost post on that site about obtaining and possibly porting the Endeavor RUU. Cm9 development is paused until we get kernel sources from HTC, so not all is lost. It just requires patience.

I really don’t care what happens to the Vivid anymore since the HTC One X and the Galaxy SIII should be out in a month or two. I’m sure those two beasts will have a ton of developer support. I guess next time I’ll make sure to get a more popular phone even though I think the Vivid is one of the best LTE phones that AT&T has.
Hello -- I have the HTC Vivid, and I have been going crazy trying to find a way to get my phone to tether. Now, I know that there have already been conversations that have occurred on this site regarding this matter; however, they mostly involve rooting or flashing new ROM's. This is my first Android phone and, to be honest, rooting my phone or flashing custom ROM's are far beyond my current capabilities and comfort zone. With my previous phones -- most of which were Windows phones -- I was very comfortable making registry tweaks, thus allowing me to tether my phones to my iPod and iPad. I miss that ability, and I'm certainly not going to give up my unlimited data plan with AT&T by adding tethering capabilities to my plan.
Anyway, in my research, my best bet (without rooting or flashing a new ROM) appeared to be the pdaNet and FoxFi apps. Well, those don't appear to work... Probably due to the fact that my phone is an HTC device and they disclose the fact that their apps are incompatible with HTC devices. I have no idea why, and they don't respond to e-mail inquiries asking for assistance or advice. So that brings me here. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Remember that I'm a complete novice with regard to Android phones. Rooting and flashing new ROM's are not options for me at this time. Thank you very much, and I apologize if this issue has been discussed to death in the forums. I just need a simple, user-friendly solution if there is one.

Thanks for the reply. I just tried that... As well as many others... But it didn't work. I keep getting that pop-up window directing me to contact AT&T.
I've tried about every tethering app in the market. I don't think there is a way without flashing a custom rom. AT&T has this thing locked down.

It certainly appears that way, yes. I just wish Android phones were as easy to tweak as Windows phones. Would I have better luck with an unlocked phone? I have an unlocked Motorola Atrix 2 phone...
Android phones used to be easier, and alot of Samsung ones really still are. If you get a nexus its real easy to tweak. Tethering is most likely the biggest reason they lock them down. Otherwise they can't rape you and charge you twice for your own data. Seriously tethering is the biggest scam these carriers pull. I know I'm limited to 2 gig either way so it's not like I can use more data with it.
I guess you just have to look at it as the vivid isn't an HTC phone. It's an att phone. HTC is just the contractor that built it for them but most likely att requested all these things be locked down in the firmware

Thanks for taking the time to share your insights. I'll keep them in mind when looking for alternative phones in the future.
Having virtual buttons has been excellent, both for a sensible button layout and because it puts the three-dot overflow menu into a consistent, intelligent location. I know you can get it on AOSP-based ROMs, but I'd be curious to try it with one of the Google Edition variants. Is there one which supports the virtual buttons?
Have you tried adding qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0 to your build.prop? I'm not sure if it'll work, but it's worth a try.

I'm actually such a noob that I don't even know what the build.prop is...
If you go to /system/, there's a file called build.prop. If you open the file, you can add "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" to the end, which should enable software keys. I'm not sure if it'll work on Sense/GE ROMs, but there's no harm in trying. Just make a backup before you do any editing!

To my super limited background, that looks like it should just disable hardware keys, but I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
Also if anyone knows of a GE ROM with such an option built in, I'd appreciate it.

Were you ever able to get it to work? I did try adding that command to the stock touchwiz on my GS4, but it never worked. GUI froze and restarted all the time. Having the nexus virtual buttons on the GE HTC & GE GS4 roms would be excellent. Please help anyone! =)

Thought it was pertinent to any GE Edition Rom - HTC, Samsung, whatever. I'd assume enabling software keys would not be device specific in a GE ROM? (well, at least I hope it is) Just saying......

If that's the case then why bother having device specific forums? May aswell just have one forum where people post anything ... If I wanted to ask a question about the HTC One, I wouldn't be asking it in the Samsung section, what's the point?

The point being the question was more about enabling the virtual keys in relation to the GE software only. The thread title & discussion was more relevant.
I've now been able to get the virtual keys for both GE edition phones working using the same build.prop command. The command applied to both devices since it concerned the software rather than the hardware....... whether I posted here or in the Samsung forum (which I did) didn't really make a difference did it?......the outcome was the same.
Of course posting in a device specific section is best when the discussion is about the specific hardware, that's obvious. This thread could have easily been located in the Android Dev and Hacking section, but it wasn't and so I just made do with it.
Hope that is a satisfactory enough explanation for this storm in a teacup....if not, have an apology for your appeasement
