[Q] T-mobile HTC one - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a t-mobile htc one user. T-mobile USA use special channel for their 4G net work, which is 1700/2100 HZ. Will I lose my 4g connection if I flash a custom-rom or kernel?

no. im with tmo and currently using trickdroid and bulletproof still getting 4g and 4g lte

4g LTE? I have 4g only
Is that a 4.1 based rom or is it a 4.2 base?
Does the software number matter? Because we are using 1.27.531.7, which is different than most using 1.29

The HTC One and tmobile support 4glte. Just in certain available areas. Tmobike is rolling out 4glte lil by lil to every city.

Tmobile USA HTC Ones have different firmware? Can I update my firmware?
My firmware is 1.27. Is that mean I can't use those custom roms which are based on 1.29? Because if I flash for 1.29, I can't go back to 1.27, which means I can't get official update.

I got mine on Thursday, I called TMo in the morning and they where sold out so I left my number for their next shippment. Which came in 3 hours later, so I know it's as fresh as the come and mine is 1.27 also. This is the first I've heard of someone with a T-Mobile One from T-Mobile that came with 1.29.

How to back up and how to go back? I'm sorry for asking this stupid question but I really don't know how. I turn "back up" on on my phone, is it already back up? I don't see any back up bottom on htc sync manager. And how to go back? I can't find tmobile stock rom anywhere.

you have to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery. you make the backup in the custom recovery. there will be an option in the recovery that says backup/restore. use that to make backups or restore your backup

This should answer some of your questions about backing up an Android device. We assume that since you are talking about adding a custom rom/kernel, you know you have to have a custom recovery to install them. Here is a video of a custom recovery you can use to not only install a rom/kernel, but also back up your current stock rom/kernel.

My T-Mobile h1 is also on 1.27, don't think I've heard of anyone with a T-Mobile 1.29.

[Q] Restore nexus one to default rom

I have a nexus one with the Markdenver's Nexus One Stock 2.3.4 and i want to restore it to default, but i'm from spain and i want a local rom, there's a page where download official roms by country?
No the only ROMs you can get are completely stock. The only way to get the languages from those ROMs are by using custom ROMs.

There are different language versions of the stock ROM. There is the WWE version, the VF version and the KR version, and they all have different languages built-in.

Oh sorry my bad I guess there are different versions
Those roms may have come stock on the phone but what most folks consider stock roms are official Google roms.

Both the WWE version and the VF version have Spanish. The WWE version gets updated first, so you may want that one. There is a list of stock ROMs here.
Thanks, but my question is: What are the numbers and leters before the version (like EPE68) It does not matter which ROM to install?

Download this one to your computer: Passion_Google_WWE_2.16.1700.1_FRG33_MFG_Shipment_ROM.zip
Extract the contents. You will end up with another zip file. Place THAT file on the root of you sdcard, and reboot your device into the bootloader. Follow the directions.
Notes:
1) This will wipe all of your current data.
2) This will downgrade you to Froyo (version FRG33), BUT you should almost instantly receive the OTA to upgrade.
Thanks, if i do a nandroid backup, it will restore my apps and configurations in stock rom?
Yes, i know too many questions but i'm new in this.
No.

Bell Mobility HTC One ... any ROMs I can use?

I am about two years removed from the whole custom ROM scene and am coming back to it with my recent purchase of an HTC One.
I've done some reading but can't really figure out if I can just flash any old ROM in the HTC One forum?
I'd like to also backup my stock firmware and ROM.
Any info and or links one of you might have handy?
/begging
Thanks!
I am using a bell HTC one and I have flashed the latest ARHD and trickdroid Roms with no problem I also flashed the latest radio baseband as detailed in the development section and noticed an improvement in cellular signal. I have seen lte speeds of 40 Mbits up and 30 down.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks very much for the info!
So I could conceivably flash one of those ROMs without needing to flash the newer firmware?
If I do update the firmware, it needs to be done before the ROM?
Thanks again!
No problem.
As for the firmware...I didn't touch it.
I
1) unlocked bootloader
2) pushed cwm
3) flashed ARHD, tried it then flashed Trickdroid
4) flashed the updated radios (after making a backup)
I think the firmware is really for the international version.

Ok thanks!
A couple more dumb questions that I hope you can answer for me?
Can I backup the stock ROM/radio and flash back to that at some point (after flashing to a custom ROM/radio)? If so, any place you can point me to read up on the process?
Did you notice an improvement on charge times and battery life with any of the new custom ROMs?
Cheers.
Yes the are instructions in the development section on how to flash and backup the radio.

[HOW-TO]Flash latest Radio in Recovery
I am not the expert but I think you can perform a nandroid backup of stock Rom from the recovery.
As for charge time I think it didn't change ( still long ) but I do not have any scientific data to back that up. To tell you the truth, I didn't spend much time on stock so I don't know about stock battery life.

May I ask where are you located. I am in Mississauga and usually only get approx 18 to 20 Mbits using LTE. I am using the very latest Radio by the way 4A.19....

[Q] Compatibility GSM ROM for CDMA Device

It will be possible to install a GSM ROM HTC One, to avoid having to be changed to GSM mode in Sprint HTC One?
I don't want to brick my device, I wonder what happen if I flash a GSM Stock Rom in this sprint HTC One

Your question is not very clear, but if I understand well you wan't to install a GSM ROM on a Sprint model.
The answer is NO, but there are some ROMs in HTC international forum which have added Sprint support like Viper, Insertcoin, Elegancia, ARHD.
If you flash a non compatible ROM you'll brick your phone, cause you'll mess up the partitions, kernel. In that case it's a pain and you'd have to flash a ruu in order to get it working again

Post above is correct. User however appears to want to use a GSM ROM thinking that it will prevent the annoyance of using the Sprint HTC One on a GSM network requiring that you constantly switch the network mode to GSM/UTMS.
Sorry, don't think it's feasible at this time though.

[Q] Converting to 'stock' GPE ROM

The only GPE ROM I've seen doesn't work on Sprint, since it is not GSM. If I use simunlock, will I be able to install a GPE ROM that has OTA updates from Google?
Thanks in advance!

You could install a CDMA GPE Rom, or AOSP Rom. There are many to choose from, Some Stockish, others not so much. Poke around the Original Android Dev forum.

Nocturnal's GPE ROM worked for me and I was SIM unlocked on a GSM network. I was on v4.0.6 though, not sure about the latest version.
Although you won't get official updates from Google, the ROM is updated frequently. Recently @gruesomewolf (who is the developer of the ROM) shared a screenshot of him running 4.4.4 and said it should be ready for release soon.

I'm sorry but converting this device will not work because they are essentially different from the international version due to the inclusion of cdma radios. You can install a GE Rom but that's as close as it gets to getting a GE experience

[Q] T-Mobile to AT&T

I was using T-Mobile and I'm now on AT&T do I need to use an AT&T Rom? The custom Rom I'm using for T-Mobile does work but wondering if using an AT&T Rom would be best regarding the radios, etc.

there's no such thing on a nexus device as custom roms for different carriers. they are all exactly the same, and will work on any carrier.
So you're saying I can use any Rom on this phone? Since there are custom Nexus 6 roms for T-Mobile and AT&T here so that's my question?

Doesn't matter. I've run the T-Mobile on Sprint. Only radios will have a role in your reception.
Thank you! Do I need to flash the AT&T radio along with any version ROM I choose? I really appreciate the help I just don't want to mess anything up.

No, you only flash a radio once. Unless you want to use a different one. Find the one that works best for you and keep it.
