The only GPE ROM I've seen doesn't work on Sprint, since it is not GSM. If I use simunlock, will I be able to install a GPE ROM that has OTA updates from Google?
Thanks in advance!

You could install a CDMA GPE Rom, or AOSP Rom. There are many to choose from, Some Stockish, others not so much. Poke around the Original Android Dev forum.

Nocturnal's GPE ROM worked for me and I was SIM unlocked on a GSM network. I was on v4.0.6 though, not sure about the latest version.
Although you won't get official updates from Google, the ROM is updated frequently. Recently @gruesomewolf (who is the developer of the ROM) shared a screenshot of him running 4.4.4 and said it should be ready for release soon.

I'm sorry but converting this device will not work because they are essentially different from the international version due to the inclusion of cdma radios. You can install a GE Rom but that's as close as it gets to getting a GE experience

no. im with tmo and currently using trickdroid and bulletproof still getting 4g and 4g lte
4g LTE? I have 4g only
Is that a 4.1 based rom or is it a 4.2 base?
Does the software number matter? Because we are using 1.27.531.7, which is different than most using 1.29

Tmobile USA HTC Ones have different firmware? Can I update my firmware?
My firmware is 1.27. Is that mean I can't use those custom roms which are based on 1.29? Because if I flash for 1.29, I can't go back to 1.27, which means I can't get official update.
I got mine on Thursday, I called TMo in the morning and they where sold out so I left my number for their next shippment. Which came in 3 hours later, so I know it's as fresh as the come and mine is 1.27 also. This is the first I've heard of someone with a T-Mobile One from T-Mobile that came with 1.29.

How to back up and how to go back? I'm sorry for asking this stupid question but I really don't know how. I turn "back up" on on my phone, is it already back up? I don't see any back up bottom on htc sync manager. And how to go back? I can't find tmobile stock rom anywhere.

you have to unlock bootloader and install custom recovery. you make the backup in the custom recovery. there will be an option in the recovery that says backup/restore. use that to make backups or restore your backup
This should answer some of your questions about backing up an Android device. We assume that since you are talking about adding a custom rom/kernel, you know you have to have a custom recovery to install them. Here is a video of a custom recovery you can use to not only install a rom/kernel, but also back up your current stock rom/kernel.

Hi guys, I couldn't find an answer using search so I'm turning to you for some help.
I converted my T-Mobile One into a GPe One. I'm still running a T-Mobile radio from the latest stock Sense available to T-Mobile. My question is, can I flash a GPe radio or will this brick my device? Since the GPe One is specific to AT&T.
Any help clearing this up will be appreciated!!

You should be fine although now the OTA for 4.3 is available you might want to flash the radio for that which can be found in this post
Yeah pretty much any radio will work, as long as it's not a sprint one lol.

I followed this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
to convert a t-mobile HTC One to Google Edition. Worked flawlessly, I even just got the OTA update to 4.3 (although I have not applied it yet, there may be an issue with the camera - trying to find more info)
You obviously have to do more than just the above post to get to GE (S-OFF, etc.) so if you have any questions I can probably try to point you in the right direction since I just did it.
From my understanding, the new T-Mobile OTA to 4.4 should bring us a new version of hboot and radio.
According to a firmware flashing post in the main HTC One forum, wifi calling is baked into T-Mobile's radio.
Now that I want to go to a 4.4.2 custom ROM, I have two questions.
How do ViperOne and InsertCoin manage to incorporate Wifi calling if the functionality is baked into the radio? Or does this mean they have the new radio and I will get all the optimizations supposedly to come with a new version?
I understand that Hboot version 1.56 is coming with 4.4. I'm currently on 1.55. Does this have any implications on me updating? Should I wait for the OTA update then convert to a custom ROM since technically, if I do it right now, I'm on a different base?
I'm really confused since this is my first HTC phone. My old Sony never was this complicated.
If I said anything wrong could you please explain? Thanks!
Anyone?

I have installed InsertCoin 7.14(KitKat based) on my HTC One with bootloader 1.55 as my One hasn't received the update. No issues there. Sorry I have no idea regarding ur TMobile issue
I have a Sprint HTC One M8 and I am thinking about converting it into a Sprint HTC One M8 GPE. My only question is can I use the Sense RUU (off the HTC developer website) to restore it back to stock. The reason I ask this is will the Stock RUU still work with the GPE bootloader and recovery?
It's not possible to convert a Sprint M8 to GPE.

Why won't a GPE conversion work? Couldn't I do the GPE conversion then flash the Sprint GPE ROM?

Well if you start converting things...such as running the GPE RUU or flashing GPE firmware, if you are lucky it will give you and error and won't flash, if you are unlucky it will most likely give you a brick.
Neither of the 2 GPE roms linked in this thread are Sprint roms, they were made to work on Sprint by @digitalhigh and @Captain_Throwback.
The closest you will get to the GPE experience is to flash one of those roms.

All Sprint GPE roms are custom, flash them like regular custom roms.
Hi,
I have unlocked HTC One M8 with S-OFF also; originally for Sprint but now using in India (purchased through ebay).
Can I install Andoird 6.? I have installed GPE 5.1 and it is always showing Android 6 update downloaded but unable to update. It just gets rebooted.
Any help!

There's currently only 1 Android 6.0 ROM that works on Sprint M8 and it is quite buggy since it's an alpha release. Here's the link:

Thanks, saw this. What is different about Sprint HTC from normal HTC. Are the hardware fundamentally different in some ways?

Sprint has some "extra" stuff installed on their phones that requires a ROM with Sprint compatability to work. Flashing the normal HTC firmware onto the Sprint hardware will cause a brick.

Besides radio, there's some apps inside that Sprint put in, like the Kids Mode app and some other Sprint bloat. I don't know much about this bloat since I was never on Sprint's network.

The Marshmallow Rom port for Sprint isn't buggy at all. I was using it with Xposed and it ran great. You definitely can run as your daily.

It's not just extra stuff, it's the phone structure even system partition. Basically Sprint network is cdma but it has a option to run gsm when Sprint customer travels international. But it's a cdma global phone. International M8 is totally different than cdma global and hence you won't be able to run international ROM unless developer made a port for Sprint version. Many peopl bricked their phones and wasted many days fixing it, including me lol.. it's not worth trying

I used to have Bad Boyz ROM for my daily drive. I tried GPE ROM with Android 5.0 and all other Sprint compatible ROMs including Viper ROM. I also tried to flash international ROMs, but had lot of issues (one of the issue I can reacall is system partition was screwed up after flashing - which caused issued with playing music, music wouldn't play continuously). Then I got a new phone from Sprint with Uh Oh protection guarantee and never rooted it ever since. It works like charm, though I struggled not to root in the beginning.. Have a Nexus 7 for all the tasting stuff . Until HTC releases Android 6.0 I have no issues living with Lollipop, its still great!
