[Tutorial] Rooting LT25i - Xperia V (Locked Bootloader) - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi all,
I'm not sure if it is already know by all owners of a Xperia V:
It is possible to root the device (LT25i, in my case firmware version 9.1.A.1.140) without the need to unlock the bootloader before.
You can find a short and easy to use tutorial in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Of course all credits go to Bin4ry.
Best regards and happing rooting
Imk82

Thanks, I will try it out
Edit: Worked Perfectly on Xperia V JB 9.1.A.1.140

It's not working for me?! After i go to Service Tests -> Display nothing happens... It just stays on /data/local/tmp/onload,sh ..
Or do I need to wait longer?

Recently got OTA FW 9.1.A.1.145 and can't root by tutorial from first post. After some searching I found working rooting toolkit from DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.

How to root Xperia V with firmware 9.0.1.D.0.10?

Hi Guys,
A couple of questions.
I have a Xperia V with firmware 9.0.1.D.0.10. I do not want to upgrade to Jelly Bean yet due to bugs with the walkman application.
Can I use one click root?
Or is the only way is to unlock the bootloader?
If I unlock the bootloader will I loose the Bavaria engine?
I tried searching the forum but the information is sporadic and not very clear.
Thanks a lot.
Try this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I think the older versions did not work on the V but the latest version is confirmed working on JB xperia V so it may work on ICS xperia V
Edit
It should work as I just read this in that thread
Download:
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v21: Click [Brand New Rooting Mode (3) Xperia Z,ZL, V etc.]
Click to collapse
EDIT
Unlocking the bootloader loses BE
Also, the fact that a lot of users added "helpful" tiny guides to root xperia devices means that the actual useful posts (such as the one I linked) gets harder to find in a search. That is why so many of those little "How to root a white xperia T running 9.1.A.0.489 bought in a vodafone shop from manchester with a credit on a monday night" threads get closed.
Thanks gregbradley.
I'll try this is a few days time. Want to make sure the phone is stable first.
If you have not yet flashed anything your phone will be stable
Heard there is a sleep of death bug....
Update: Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v21 does not work with firmware 9.0.1.D.0.10.
Tried it. Stops at the service menu part.

[Q] xperia z C6602 10.1.1.A.1.253 root?

Hey everyone!
I currently use the xperia z C6602 to 10.1.1.A.1.253 firmware and want to root it to get JB (I have the France version imported here to the US, but never got the update). I also want to root it for other reasons (to get rid of bloatware, etc).
I tried following this method on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287299
but got stuck on the part where it says to point the drivers to the designated folder. When I booted the phone with fastboot, it tried installing drivers on windows, but never gave me the option to select a folder (and installation failed). May I ask how to get past that step?
Or are there any other ways to root my phone? I started a new thread because i think the C6602 might be a bit different from the C6603, just just to be safe. My bootloader is unlockable but i have not yet unlocked it. Fyi, I currently reside in the USA (don't know if that helps)

Thank you! I'm also thinking about flashing to JB (which would remove the root, i think?)
Anyhow, thank you very much, guys.

Then you just re-root it.

You can just proceed with [NUT]'s method. Now that you have root install recovery and the do the rest of the steps.
If you need help refer to my updated video:

Thanks for your advice
I just processed exactly as NUT guide and had the 4.3 c6903 14.2.A.0.290 rooted :good:
Just a question:
- as NUT guide, last step is flash the ...stripped.ftf
- as your video, i did not see you flash the stripped.ftf. Instead, you flash the original generic 14.2.A.0.290 ?
what is the different? If i flash again the original 14.2.A.0.290 like yours. will it loose root ?
Have a great day!

In my video it is the stripped version as well. It shows up as normal in Flashtool for some reason. My video is 100% based on [NUT] method

[Q] Xperia Z (C6603) FW 10.4.B.0.569 - ROOT

Hi, I am new in this forum. I have an Xperia Z (C6603) and I’m currently on FW 10.4.B.0.569. I am planning to install FXP CM11 but before unlocking the bootloader I would like to back up my TA partition. I understand that I will need root access for that. My question is whether I can use DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit by flashing back to KernelOnly 10.3.A.0.423 even so I currently have 10.4.B.0.569 or will I have to entirely downgrade the phone to 10.3.A.0.423 by using a full version (not KernelOnly)? Any hint will be much appreciated.
I was going to follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/root-how-to-rooting-firmware-10-3-1-0-t2386405 but after reading the instructions again, I guess the warning “THIS IS ONLY FOR THE XPERIA Z (C6602/3) FW 10.3.1.A.0.244 / 10.3.1.A.2.67!” stopped me and I thought I better ask.

the better way is to downgrade to 10.3.1.A.0.244 / 10.3.1.A.2.67 4.2.2 firmware, root it then backup TA,unlock bootloader & flash the CM11
Thanks for your reply. That's the safest way and that's what I finally did. Worked great.
