Hi, I am new in this forum. I have an Xperia Z (C6603) and I’m currently on FW 10.4.B.0.569. I am planning to install FXP CM11 but before unlocking the bootloader I would like to back up my TA partition. I understand that I will need root access for that. My question is whether I can use DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit by flashing back to KernelOnly 10.3.A.0.423 even so I currently have 10.4.B.0.569 or will I have to entirely downgrade the phone to 10.3.A.0.423 by using a full version (not KernelOnly)? Any hint will be much appreciated.
I was going to follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/root-how-to-rooting-firmware-10-3-1-0-t2386405 but after reading the instructions again, I guess the warning “THIS IS ONLY FOR THE XPERIA Z (C6602/3) FW 10.3.1.A.0.244 / 10.3.1.A.2.67!” stopped me and I thought I better ask.

the better way is to downgrade to 10.3.1.A.0.244 / 10.3.1.A.2.67 4.2.2 firmware, root it then backup TA,unlock bootloader & flash the CM11
Thanks for your reply. That's the safest way and that's what I finally did. Worked great.

Hi all,
I'm not sure if it is already know by all owners of a Xperia V:
It is possible to root the device (LT25i, in my case firmware version 9.1.A.1.140) without the need to unlock the bootloader before.
You can find a short and easy to use tutorial in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Of course all credits go to Bin4ry.
Best regards and happing rooting
Imk82
Thanks, I will try it out
Edit: Worked Perfectly on Xperia V JB 9.1.A.1.140

It's not working for me?! After i go to Service Tests -> Display nothing happens... It just stays on /data/local/tmp/onload,sh ..
Or do I need to wait longer?
Recently got OTA FW 9.1.A.1.145 and can't root by tutorial from first post. After some searching I found working rooting toolkit from DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit.
Is it possible to root the new fw 10.1.1.A.1.253 whithout unlock the bootloader? I've been reading the forum for hours and the methods I've found seems not to work with 10.1.1.A.1.253..
If there is a way, could someone please tell me where I can find the step by step guide?
Thanks!

Well, I'm new here and maybe I did not look at the right place...
But if you mean this thread:
> Sony Xperia Z > Xperia Z Android Development > [ROOT] Xperia Z, ZL, Tablet Z {LB/UB} [Exploit by: goroh_kun & huhka_com]
It's not working for the firmware I asked...
Requirements:
Xperia Z, ZL with stock Sony JB firmware (as of now tested on: 10.1.D.0.317, 10.1.D.0.322, 10.1.A.1.350, 10.1.A.1.434)
I looking for a guide to ROOT 10.1.1.A.1.253 whithout unlock bootloader...
Thanks!

I'd suggest to look better.
Or use the search button.
[TUTORIAL][ROOT]Upgrade stock .434 to .253 - DRM & Bootloader LOCKED
its literally on the first page....
you might want to try this guide instead, I found it easier and nothing gets wiped.

Hi all masters,
I just updated my phone to 4.3. It is an official update from PC companion.
The build number of my phone is now 9.2.A.0.295
and the Kernel version is 3.4.0-perf-g1bd8e16
After the update, I have lost the root functions....:silly:
I would like to ask for a simple way to root my phone Xperia TX LT29i
I am not familiar with rooting my phone. May I have a detailed tutorial? Thanks
Many Thanks,

hi, my phone is xperia sp 5303, I root it and unlock bootloader too.The version soft now in my phone is "android 4.4.2 CyanogenMod ver 11-20140120-unofficial-huashan".
So now I want to get back with stock rom that lastest firmware of sony : Sony Xperia SP Receiving Firmware Update 12.1.A.1.201, What should I do now ? I don't want to become a "brick" .
You should ask in the correct forum for your device -
Xperia SP Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting.
Good luck.

You're in the wrong forum. There is a Xperia SP forum, search for it and ask there.
Generally download Flashtool and a .ftf file of a stock rom and flash it via flashtool

I'm using an Xperia ZR C5503 with android 4.4.4. I didnt find a guide for my same configuration and that's why i created a new thread. Excuse me if it has been already asked. I have a completely untouched stock kernel and locked kernel. There are so many .ftf files, and different methods so I was completely confused as to the correct procedure.
Any tips?
My config:
Model: Xperia ZR C5503
Android version: 4.4.4
Firmware: 10.5.1.A.0.283
Delete
I was able to root it by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2872873..
