Stay awake and Back button issue - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all
i can not see Stay awake and Back button in Display, gestures & buttons
anyone suggestion ???

Are you running stock rom with root?
Or you're using a custom rom?
However, in stock rom, with the latest update, there isn't the option for the back button.
For stay awake i don't know

Then, in stock rom, with latest base avaiable, is normal that you don't have the button for set the back button.

I have the same issue.
My previous rom version was 1.28.401.7 (stock + rooted).
I updated to the latest stock 1.29.401.16R and the option disappeared.
I would like to know if users with the latest version have the same issue, perhaps it's a suppression from HTC to preserve screens (like Samsung) even if I don't really think so.

[Q] Stock Rom update

Hi all, I put this question for my friend. His Nexus One was dead now came back from hardware changed. He found that his N1's frimware had changed from previously 2.3.6 to 2.1 now. He cannot find update function in the setting. Is there any way to back to 2.3.6 or any best stable stock rom at this moment? Thanks.

I'm not so familiar with upgrading stock roms, because my N1 was at 2.3.6 when I bought it. But in all stock and custom roms of my N1 and other Android phones there was at least an option at Settings -> About phone -> System updates to upgrade the firmware OTA. In custom roms this option is functionless, but it should be there. Perhaps it has been overlooked by your friend.
If there is against expectations no such option you can upgrade to the latest firmware over fastboot described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312540
This is the info.

Perhaps the option is in the menu?
Hmmm... if he manual update from sd card, whats the steps and which firmware version does he need?

I guess so.
I found another solution on a german blog: Dial * # * # C H E C K I N # * # * and you should receive a notification "checkin succeeded". After that check the settings again.

I don't know either. Google should help to find out. But with this roms you need to flash several updates to get the newest one. The procedure to install the updates is also different to the method I linked above. I think you have to flash them via recovery. But I'm not sure about that.
My friend just want it keeping stock rom. No rooting. I downloaded that rom u post to me. Which is 2.3.6. I upgraded from sd card. 2.1 > 2.3.6 at once. It can boot ok. But i wonder if anything not right...

If I remember rightly it should be the newest unrooted stock rom. So if it boots successfully it should be fine. Why do you think anything is not right?

isn't there is 2.3.7 as latest? I know CM has it, not sure about stock though.
I felt not right because I could upgrade from the lowest version rom 2.1 to highest version rom at once... just like it's root and flashing rom.

Good question. I'm not sure about that. A quick Google search let me think that the latest version for the N1 is 2.3.6 and 2.3.7 were released exclusive for the Nexus S.

If your device was unrooted, it should still be. You just flashed the whole firmware at once via fastboot instead of applying every single update via OTA or recovery.

So 2.3.7 stock is only for Nexus S As I know 2.3.7 should be latest version of Gingerbread, right?

His N1 was root before it's out of order. After fixed, not sure what hardware parts changed, and it became unroot and with 2.1 firmware, and he wanna keep as unroot.

No, these kinds of custom tweaks will not work on a stock ROM.

[Q] Wakky Camera Issues with Kernels

Hey guys! Daniel here on my unlocked HTC one (dev addition)....
I have been having some issues with my camera, every custom kernel I have tried has made it be black, and unresponsive.
So far I have tried elementalX (The Kernel I hope to have work), and 2 other xda kernels, all with both camera fix on and off...
I have also tried this with the stock ROM, and CleanROM, with no change in effect~
Any ideas for diagnosing this issue?

I'm on 2.17. 401.1 - is this an issue?
I'm running Android revolution HD 10, but have not tried flashing elementalx yet.
There isn't even source code for 1.29 properly yet, never mind the new Android 4.2.2 I'd strongly recommend using the stock kernel until the source code is released for kernel devs
I'm surprised the only issue you're having is with camera tbh

Sounds good, with stock kernel is there any good 3dot menu replacement? Sadly android revolution 10 does not get rid of it (hint hint)

[Q] Pushed update to 4.3 while on custom GP rom

Hey all,
Im on bigxie's Stock Android 4.2.2 Google Play Ed rom and I got the notification this morning for System Update Downloaded for 4.3.
I assume this will not work anyway but would this run the risk of bricking my phone? Also is there any way to get rid of the notification so I dont accidentally pocket install it or something?
Cheers

Are you running the odexed version? Using the stock kernel? Stock recovery?
If you have these things you will be good to go.

Problem with Lollipop custom ROM

My phone was running official ROM, MIUI Jelly Bean until I decided to install custom recovery, repartition into 1.2 GB system memory and install custom ROM. I tried to install Xenon HD and RR and it booted. But after the lockscreen appeared, it stopped to respond. The touch sensor, the buttons except when I press and hold my power button. I connected my phone to my PC it didn't stuck anymore. It worked fine. What's the problem? I'm new to this phone. Do I have to install MIUI 6 first?

No. It was because I didn't update my baseband. I was too lazy to download the update [emoji14]

By updating the firmware from MIUI 5 to MIUI 6. The baseband got changed too. I guess lollipop will work on our device if we use baseband that comes with MIUI 6.

Do you mean the modem (aka radio)?
That image should be flashable as a zip, assuming it's been extracted by someone. Good point, no flashable zip anywhere?
