So my son(2yrs) got to my G1 and well im pretty sure he messed with the pattern unlock and then tapped "forgot password". now i cant sign in to my gmail account even though i know the information I input is correct, but i have achieved this before. i really need help!
Basically what i want to know is if there is any way to bypass the gmail sign in and how to go about doing that? i did a little bit of research and turned up that i have to download adb to do it, but im not sure, and i really dont want to do a factory reset...
If it helps? It is running on the factory OS and i have it activated through simplemobile
i am new at this and not much of a tech person so i could really use the help
thanks!

Here's the story, I had a TMobile G1 Retail phone, I hacked it installed a new bootloader yadda yadda and put the Android Dev 1 or whatever is the latest version onto the phone, set it up with a gmail account etc, all is well.
Well the reason I did this is so I could give the phone to my wife who lives in the Dominican Republic, Well I thought to be the safe hubby and put the Visual lock on it and set a real simple pattern for her to remember.
Her friends are dense at times, and repeatedly botched the visual locked until it asked her for her credentials and locked her out of the phone.
Now the catch is she doesn't have any sort of data plan, I don't even know if a compatible service exists with Orange over there.
How can I unlock her phone without it being able to communicate with Google via a data connection, is a hard reset in order? Will that prompt her to set up a new account, or if I remember correctly do you need to even setup an account just for basic phone usage.
I'd just hate for her to lose all the apps/games I put on there with a hard reset or having to track down someone technical over there to push a new install.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988
No need to get the entire sdk, just send the adb.exe and adbwinapi.dll files.
By the way, if the phone doesn't have a dataplan then i'm assuming it's not logged into Google? If that's the case why not just deactivate the lock screen? The main purpose is to prevent casual access to your GMail/GCal/etc if you were to lose your phone.
Thanks for the reply, and yeah well after she told me what happened, I immediately asked myself the same question, I was busy during the visit and the little things that are important I neglected to conceive.
I should have gone through and turned off alot of settings but I just didn't think about it at the time.
Thanks again.
Well i got a g1 that is unlocked and i was using it but my son got hold of it and it is now asking me to set up an account with google but how can i set up the account when i am in mexico and the data is not working in my phone. Does anyone know of a way to bypass the google registration thank you.

If you are using one of the cooked ROMs from here, you should have a Skip button, if not, I am not aware of any way to get past it.
Umm if your phone rooted or unlocked theres a diffrence and like Talderon said if you have a cooked rom most likely you can just skip it but maybe your phone's not rooted its just unlocked to use other carriers like AT&T and such i dont kno so
is it Unlocked or Rooted?
13 posts, so I am guessing he does not have a rooted phone.
Search on here for activating using WiFi, and not your data plan.
u never kno maybe he dont kno the termanology maybe he got it from someone maybe who knows maybe doesnt kno the rite word for what he has caus there is a diffrence betweek rooted and unlocked just clairfying S151 so chill
You can try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
However, if your phone is not rooted or you have a newer (post R29) Stock ROM on the phone, this won't work, but worth a shot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
well I have a RC30 because after I tried the intructions on how to register the G1 without sim or data plan it did not reboot so I dont have a RC29 what else can I do.
im pretty sure thats the only way to do it......
if you manage to root your phone, you'll have a bunch of fun stuff you can do with it
Hello everyone,
I really hope you guys can help me with this problem. Lets start with, I have the international version of the HTC ONE 801e, and today I don't know why but I just set up a random PIN password for the lock screen and I cannot remember it at all :crying: I've tried unlocking it like 100 times I AM NOT KIDDING. I've contacted HTC and they told me that I have to reset my phone to Factory Settings but I really don't want to do that. My carrier is AT&T, I thought about contacting them or going to the store but I wanted to ask you guys first. My phone is not ROOTED it is completely stock everything. I really really really hope you can help me. And if my only option is to reset my phone to factory settings, can you tell me how to access my folders before doing that. Because I have some photos and whatsapp chat backups that I really don't want to lose.
Any help would be appreciated, Thank you,
Hmmm... suspicious.
I'm gonna leave this here: http://en.miui.com/thread-5684-1-1.html

Enter a random PIN a few times and when it asks you if you've forgotten your PIN say yes and unlock it with your Google account credentials. Then you can set a new PIN and there will be no need to reset your phone.

Thanks for the opinion but that didn't work. I've read tons of threads and the "Google Reset Method" only works if you forget your Pattern lock code. I had to reset it anyway T.T
Hey MrGrey44 was your problem solved without formatting your device? I am also facing same problem on my tab. Here is link to my thread, pls help me out.

Is there any way to solve this other than doing a hard reset on the HTC One?
Can't really afford to lose the data.
SORRY. Forgot to click question.

this sounds like a way to access a stolen phones information, I doubt you'll get much help here
For all we know the phones not yours, in most cases it'll ask you to verify using the Google account on the phone. If you don't no neither than that says a lot.
But,
A nicely worded Google search should give you specific steps.

Why on earth would I care for the data if the phone was stolen? Then I'd go right ahead and reset it.
It belongs to a family member, and I gave said person the HTC One when I got my Z1 (you can see from my previous posts from several months back about the HTC One). Long story short: she messed up the pattern too many times (who knows how, I'm actually annoyed) and doesn't know the password to the Google account. So I reset the password for her (I have access to the Google account), but that password won't work because the phone is not connected to wi-fi or mobile data, so the only way is to obtain the previous password, and that's impossible as far as I know, especially since Google does not have any e-mail/phone support.
I read a couple of tips regarding calling the phone and the dropping down the notification bar to turn on the net, but it doesn't work.
So I came here hoping for a solution before we have to wipe the phone with lots of vacation pictures:/
I have googled a lot, and haven't found anything. Thank you though.

If you have TWRP installed use adb pull /sdcard/Pictures to retrieve your vacation pictures, then factory reset.
If stock recovery your only option is a factory reset.

That's usually what happens with a stolen device and if it is yours all you need to do is put your Google account and password in and that will go away and if you can't remember the password then just reset your password and wait 72 hours for the phone to allow the new password to work other than that we don't give out ways to bypass security because then everyone who steals someone's phone would just come here to get the answer to get away with it and I'm pretty sure no one's going to want to give the answer to this because you should know your own password or at least be able to reset it!

You've been "assigned" to do something you don't know how to do? Sounds legit!

I kinda find it funny! Lol.
Thread closed.
The simple solution to these problems are basically going to service provider and asking them for the code to unlock it.
There's absolutely no need for such threads.
