Just checked the permission for the app and see it needs full internet access. Have you turned off AP before trying to play?? Would check with carrier too as you might have been throttled if you have gone over on your data plan

The wife and I both have received this error message that can not be gotten rid of by rebooting "facebook (build 144481) download requires network" it just will not go away. We have strong 4G LTE and WIFI signals. Not sure what it is. We rooted both phones with the tools found on this forum. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated

Not sure if it has anything to do with it or not, but later in the day that my wife received her error message (yesterday) she got the JB update
I also got the Facebook (Build 14481) download popup on my Samsung Galaxy S. Uninstalling Facebook app does not help and rebooting also does nothing.
How do I get this Facebook download notification to go away and stop it from downloading?
Again not sure if it has anything to do with JB rolling out, but now my "system updates" option in "about phone" is unavailable
Facebooks latest android update is skipping Google play store. They're updating directly through Facebook. Which raises a lot of concerns. And I'm sure rooted or custom devices are conflicting with this change.
I got the same thing on my GNex. I was able to long click the download and stop it (download manager), but it started again shortly. I just cleared the cache in D/L manager, we'll see how that goes.

Mine kept trying to download over and over and over...
I turned WiFi on, and it finally went away. They probably made it so it only downloads over wifi, but they probably stupidly wrote it so it polls for wifi connectivity instead of registering for a callback event. My phone was getting hot, until I got this notification to go away.

How do we stop it?
Having Facebook (build 144481) issue as well
VZW Galaxy Nexus Rooted, stock 4.1.1
mine won't stop....I even UNINSTALLED all facebook....and then cleared all data and cache and force stopped downloads and download manager...rebooted....
the Facebook (build 144481) download restarts again....and NEVER gets anywhere or does anything!!
WTF!!!
If you connect to WiFi and click on it, it will look like its downloading and then it will go away. DROID RAZR HD!

UPDATE
Issue Resolves with WIFI use...whatever the Facebook (build 144481) was or is.....
This thread should probably be moved to a more general area. I'm also receiving it on a Samsung Vibrant rooted on 4.2.1.
Possible fix.
Long press on the error and then select app info, force stop. That should do it.
I got the same thing on an LG escape, and turning on WiFi doesnt help it. Nor does a reboot. Fing FB that I dont even use.

Tried that, it just comes back like 5 minutes later. I'll have to try connecting to wifi to see if it clears. Right now it seems to go on indefinitely without showing any progress. BTW I have an HTC One X+ stock.

fixed or resolved the issue for me in a matter of seconds...perhaps whatever the download update is....yours is locked up...try rebooting and having wifi on, so when the download restarts it's utilizing the wifi from the start...
Mine is gone!
Mine doesn't do that anymore. I first uninstall all facebook apps including the messenger one. You might have to clean the catches too.

I went into my download folder and found it. Checked the box and trashed it. It is gone for the moment
I got this crap too now. When I get home I'll see if the Wi-Fi helps. At least I know I'm not alone!

I just got the Xperia Z (C6603) last week and this phone is awesome. The only problem is that I can't figure out how to connect to AT&T's 3G network. Somebody please help me, I'm desperate. I know it's possible but I just don't know how?? I've tried everything. Without at least having some form of a mobile connection I feel like all my money went down the drain for this phone. Worst case scenario is that I can't connect to the Internet and I have to sell the phone
create the APN manually
I have had the same problem. Solved it by creating the APN manually.

Good luck
Thank you so much! It worked!

As mentioned above, go into Xperia under settings, then click on internet settings, should download the internet and mms settings.
Xperia settings - download
That’s what I tried first but they didn’t work at all.

You need to make sure that your phone is connected through wifi and not 3g/4g. I had the same problem. It needs to download the update no matter what, but since the update is so huge it will refuse to download if your connection is not wifi.

Another network worked. Must have been some packet prioritizing on my works network or something.
Cheers!
I'm not sure when this started happening, but I'd guess the past month or so I've noticed it. I constantly get a "internet connection is established" message popping up on my phone when using it, especially when I first wake it up from having it in my pocket. This happens on both WiFi and my cell network. I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I already wiped the cache.

One thing to check is to go into Setttings/WiFi/Advanced and make sure "Always" is choosen for "Keep Wi-Fi on during Sleep".
The cell network I don't know about.

I did try that but still getting the message.
I am guessing this is one of your apps because no one else appears to have this issue. Try uninstalling or freezing apps for a few days to pinpoint which one.
Did you ever figure out the problem? I am also getting the same message on my nexus 6

No I'm still trying to find the cause of the issue. I too think it may be one of my apps, just have to narrow it down now.

It's definitely an app. I just ended up flashing another ROM and since then no messages coming up. I've installed lot of the same apps so I'm not sure which app caused this.
But either way, let me know if you ever figure out. I'll stay away from that app.
Do you have an app from QNAP? Qvideo can do it.
Do you use kik friend finder? i think that's the issue.
