I love the 90s. Good times.
Meh. I don't know. I've pretty much put everything I want on my phone and I still have 6.5GB left on my internal storage. I guess it helps that I play all of my bigger games on my Nexus 7 tablet, but I'm pretty sure there's even an app that allows you to move your large game data to your external sd card.
I somewhat agree. however it wont change most likely.
That's like paying for a 24oz drink and the cashier gives you a 14oz drink saying you can add ice if you like aka SD card

Better anaolgy might be paying for a 24 ounce soda and the cashier gives you a 64 ounce cup with 24 ounces soda(S4) vs a 24 ounce cup with 24 ounces soda(One,Iphone).
I kinda agree. It is a little deceiving. My internal memory is almost maxed out and I was surprised when it warned me I was running out of space. I'm ok with it I guess bought a 64gig sd card so I should be good

Wonder if this falls under false advertisement.
I love the 90s. Good times.
No, because it does in fact come with 16GB of storage just not all user accessible or usable.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry, I don't agree. The phone has the amount of memory advertised. Some of it is taken up by the OS and bloat. That's true on every smartphone, computer, tablet, etc that comes with an OS loaded. It should not be a surprise to anyone that the full 16gb is not available. I agree it sucks that we can't move everything to the SD card like on older releases of Android, and that we didn't get the 32gb at the launch in most places. But it is what it is, and it's no secret. If it's not enough, your choice is to live with it or take it back and wait for the larger capacity ones to (hopefully) come along later.
I'm not a big gamer and still have 9.62gb left on my S4 after loading most of what I want. I have a 32gb Class 10 Sandisk micro SD card that is over half full now with my pictures, files, movies, books, etc. So far, it's working quite well for me. But I'm sure it will be inadequate for some. And that's a shame, but it's certainly not fraud or false advertising by Samsung, IMO.
meh one of these guys will figure a2sd out for it im not worried about it. I play video games on my xbox and ps3 not on my s4. Most other apps are less than 6MBs. Not overall concerning.
Dude you are such a baby

I have to agree that they said it came with 16GB of internal storage and that is what we got. They never said it would have 16GB free. And no phone or computer ever does. What I will complain about is that they should have had the 32 and 64 versions ready at the same time as the 16.

We always only have the 16 GB available in store I don't know why the higher capacities are only online.
What would be cool is if they put like 8gbs extra for the os so we get a full 16 available but I'm sure that isn't possible.
It'd at least not as bad as the photon q I think that only had 8gb available and that phone doesn't even have half the features of the s4

Sorry...but: if the xda-admins allow threads like "recommend not to buy" to creep in here I'd reckon it is ok all the same to flood the topics list with equally silly "buy this" threads. I *don't* think it should be allowed to state *opinions* in the title of a thread, otherwise the *discussion thread proper* will become useless - I'd appreciate *theme threads" only with opinions *within* the discussion board. After all this here should be about discussing real topics, right? And if someone who just loves HTC or works for Samsung spoils the fairness of the topics list with "I hate LG" threads I'd say go get lost.
*flame off*
Otherwise - the LG 4X is the best smartphone there is these days. I have it for 4 weeks now and I own 6 other expensive smartphones and none even comes close. Your mileage may vary, though

I'll admit I did find it odd that a "do not buy" thread was allowed to remain on xda, so there should be no problem having a "do buy" thread. At least it keeps the good and bad opinions separate instead of flaming in the same thread.
Mine is due for delivery from Germany today
Reasons why I bought this over the SGS3 and One X:
microSD slot
Normal size SIM slot
Menu button!
Doesnt look like a pebble, nice straight lines
Not glossy plastic
Available in black
UI is very vanilla looking
2150 mah REPLACEABLE battery
Smallest of the three
the 4X is definitely the best phone LG ever made.
I believe it's better than the One X because it's less buggy, more compact, has an expandable SD card and a larger/removable battery.
And Menu button>Multitasking button.
Multitasking button=wasted screen space on legacy/non-ICS optimized apps.

I've got all my apps, books, couple movies and some high quality games and I still have 2-3gb left.
8gb is more than adequate for me.
I live in the cloud. No local storage for me. Some Play Music playlist(s) are stored for offline use. I use the N7 as primarily a reading device with streaming media thrown in for good measure. I have had all my media and docs in the cloud so 8gb is more than adequate. I may feel the storage crunch if I need to download and store movies for a trip...I guess we'll cross that bridge when the time is appropriate. With the Galaxy Nexus available as a tether, I just don't need excess storage.
Games are going to use up your flash drive. Just bought Max Payne which requires 1.3GB download.
Since I'm almost always in WiFi range, and when I'm not I will have a Verizon LTE phone to tether to, I left all my music in my Google Music account, which is what would have taken up all my storage. I was a little worried but so far it hasn't even phased me that I am on limited storage. For me, and I know not everyone will feel the same way, the extra $50 savings was worth it over the extra storage. After installing all my apps and loading my ROMs and emulators, I think I have about 4.5GB left out of (5.92GB user accessible). It's enough for me to put a movie on for a trip though to be honest I think the 7 inch display is still a bit too small for movies. I might have to stick with my 11.6 inch laptop for movie watching on trips even if the display is inferior to the Nexus 7.
8GB is enough for me. So far, I have 5GB free.

I have all my ebooks (a lot) on board and still have 4.2 GB left.
I spent $4 to get a pair of Xoom OTG cables from FleaBay, and found a couple of tiny PNY 16 GB USB drives on sale at BestBuy for $10 each. Thats more than enough to hold anything else I would use in the way of music or videos: 32 GB for 25 bucks.
Do you work at Google doing product marketing research? I demand to be paid for my user feedback =)
8GB is plenty for me, filled mostly with pictures of my daughters so I can show people when I run into them. I'm a proud (and crazy) father.
So just to confirm if I bought a USB otg off amazon, what would it work with? Heard it does not work with certain things??
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
The one I got was from eBay, listed as being for the Xoom. The micro-usb side has a 90 degree angle. Works with everything I have (four different thumb drives and a mouse). YMMV
I've got plenty of room. I just keep my porn on a thumb drive.
I use an OTG cable and a 16gb sdhc. Its also kind of cool to be able to use USB gamepads for my emulators.

As title states..I want to hear opinions from those who have the 8gb. Are you guys happy with the phone...storage/space wise? Or do you think the 16gb would have been a better option? If happy, how are you guys freeing up space on your phones?
Reason I ask is because I am tired of waiting for stocks to show up and am tempted to pay a little more premium ($50 extra) to get a 8gb phone. Wanted to know if it is really worth it? or should i keep waiting?
16gb would have been better, although I find 8gb enough. This is only because I have a nexus 7 that I use for all the big games (Gameloft ones).
I think when usb-otg gets working I'll be able to get some big games on it.
I am a little gutted I didn't get the 16gb, but I couldn't afford the extra money so I had no choice
I'm usually on around 2-3gb free.

If you've been thinking about upgrading, now is the time to do it. Sure, this means the N5 is incoming, but nowhere else will you find a deal like this on such a fantastic device. And supplies won't last long, I guarantee it. Google is obviously clearing them out. Remember the HP Touchpad? Yeah, you don't want to miss out this time. Ever since I upgraded from the Exhibit, the difference has literally been night and day. Just thought I'd drop by and give the heads up. Cheers, guys!

I got the 16GB version. Only real downside is not having the option for expandable storage. Still, for the price, it's an absolute steal. Performance is incredible, dev support is great, and overall this is the best value for any phone on the market right now. I'd highly recommend buying a case though. Just take my word for it.

Yeah I pretty much decided against getting it, the lack of an expandable SD card slot is too much of a deal killer and would create a lot of extra work. That sounds lazy but after a year of factory resets and installing new ROMs that's what happens!

Not lazy, AD. I agree completely. I could overlook the size (possibly), but the lack of a removable, upgradable SD card is a killer. Technology moves too quickly and these guys have gotten this exhibit working so well...

Hey guys.. recently I sold my Oneplus Two after using it for 1 year and bought new LG G4. But I bought it thinking I can enjoy entirely new things. But unfortunately I lost my enthusiasm. I didn't love the phone for many reason. 1. Battery life is very low. 2. No unlock bootloader. 3. No root for Marshmallow. 4. Phone heats up very quick. And many cons too. Now I'm planning to downgrade to phone with good specs and not too high end. So I thought of choosing Nexus 6. What do you guys think ? Is it a right choice to buy used one with 203 dollar ? ...

Just this month I had an option to upgrade to a new phone. I chose buying a used Nexus 6 instead. I could not be happier. It has what I always try and make phones, stock android. There is still tons of developing going on. I don't even care that it is an older phone. I had the LG G3.
We can't answer that. Only you can. Nexus like you said yourself is considered old, however many of us would not consider the phones out now a considerable upgrade.

I don't know about you, but in the OP's situation I wouldn't want to have to play around with a dongle sitting in my USB port simply to increase my storage space. Using a USB OTG device is inconvenient except in certain use cases, such as at home backing up a device with TWRP. USB OTG may be expandable storage, but it's simply not optimal. Thus the OP still needs to ask himself whether 32GB is enough.
I don't think 32GB is enough, not without being ruthless in your space management. I know you'll probably disagree, but I'm willing to lay odds that as an owner of a 32GB model you're pretty ruthless in your space management. Owners of 64GB devices have the luxury of not having to be so ruthless, and I really think it adds to the enjoyment of the device.

I don't use otg, but it is an option in expandable storage.. you said there aren't any options. I have a 32gb n6. I bought it in nov, 2014. anyways, 32gb is more than enough for me. and I mod my device, nearly daily. and have 2 3.5gb+ nandroid back ups in my storage. before n6, I always had 16gb. now 32gb is spacious for me. also, I'm an amateur photographer that only uses the n6 for photography. what I don't do is keep music on my device, that's what seems to save me. I use google play music services, and I always have that to use. when I take a subway home from work, I'll download several albums to listen to, beforehand. BTW, on tmobile, unlimited high speed data, in NYC
I forgot about USB OTG as an option. I stand corrected on that.
Like I said, you're ruthless in your space management, where I don't have to be. That however doesn't mean I'm not. If I were to put my stuff on your device, it would all fit with about a gigabyte left. Having used devices with far less storage, space management became an art form with me. But on this device, not worrying about how much space I'm using is liberating, and it's that liberating feeling that makes using this device more enjoyable.

ruthless, I'd never say that in this case. over time, I do end up deleting a lot though.
Had the G4 last year. Decided to sell it after a few months due to the subpar battery life. I do miss the camera and brighter screen, however, I prefer the N6 for the bigger screen, much better battery life, wireless charging and Project Fi. $200 for a used N6 is still a good price.

Of course you could shunt what you delete to cloud storage. But the fact you have to pick and choose what to keep on your phone only proves correct what some sites, for example Android Authority, are saying now about devices with 32GB storage: it's really too small these days, so the OP really needs to think this through. Currently Swappa has 64GB models for a low of $280. $200 is an excellent deal for a 32GB device, depending on condition. But is the price worth the potential inconvenience the smaller amount of storage may impose?
