[Q] i957 Not turning on CM10 - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Hi, I have a Rogers i957 Galaxy tab. Ive installed CM10 on it about 4 months ago and everything was fine.
The battery on the tablet went flat so I charged it with the wall charger over night. This morning it does not turn on.
Ive tried to hold the power button down for over a minute with no avail.
Ive tried button combos a well but this thing is completely dead.
It make no noises, vibrations..nothing.
I have even tried to plug it into my computer and it does nothing.
Its been on the charger ever since.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. I'm not sure if it was some fluke in the rom or random hardware failure. I had to send it to sammy to get it fixed. Luckily I was still under warranty.

[Q] Phone thinks it is charging

the sgs, when switched off, thinks that it is connected to a charger and that big battery screen shows up, at first the phone wasnt turning off after that.
ive since flashed using odin and 3 files hoping it would help. the phone now turns on but once switched off it continues to think that it is charging.
when i try and reboot, which i must do by plugging in a charger then pressing the power button once charging actually starts a minute later, the phone goes into a boot loop. Once it managed to get through after around 15mins.
I can get into both download and recovery mode. main problem is that the phone doesnt ever turn off (charging screen comes on), and that booting up is difficult and is hit or miss.
I have looked for other threads on this but havent found anything, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Felleese
Try a factory reset...
Thanks for the tip but it hasn't helped.
Anything else I should try?

[Q] Phone completely dead. Any ideas?

Today my phone suddenly died on me and refuses to boot up. I came home from work and the phone was working fine. Made a few phone calls, checked a few apps etc. Battery was about 70%.
I left the phone aside and when I picked it up at bed time, it had shut down. Now it doesn't boot at all. I thought maybe the battery had suddenly died down and put it to charge but it isn't turning on at all. Can't even get to the LG logo. Anyone have any clue what to do?
I thought I was one of the lucky few to get a handset which didn't reboot
Edit: Thought I should mention that I was running stock ROM, rooted, with CWM recovery installed
Can you bring up recovery mode? Did you try NVFlash?

Remove and replace the battery first and then try charging trough your usb cable and pc. Let it charge for a few minutes and try to boot.

had the same problem.
nvflash fixed it, once the problem was solved I kept getting reboots 20x a day so I nvflashed again and flashed CM7 and havent had a reboot/ BSOD since. I also thought I was one of the lucky ones that didn't reboot at first btw
Thanks guys. Wouldn't power up at all in normal or recovery so couldn't nvflash it. Tried usb, charging etc etc.
However after countless battery pulls just started up again and working perfectly since. I've powered up my trusty htc magic as a backup meanwhile. No idea what went wrong at all.

by recovery you ment CWM or Upgrade mode? (that is remove battery, hold volume down button and plug in usb while holding it)

[Q] is my touchpad bricked?

so ive had cm7 on my touchpad for over a month working fine. the other night the battery died and now it wont charge or turn on. ive tried 2 different plugs 2 different usb cables and even tried usb on the computer. i let this thing charge all night for 9 hours and i never get even the charging symbol. ive tried the reset power+home button for up to 60 secs and the power+vol up to hopefully do webdoctor but it does nothing. any suggestions
Maybe. Doesn't make sense how. Try holding the power and home for a very long time. I've read of people having to hold it for quite a long time before something happened. Try for 3 mins maybe that'll work.

[Q] Galaxy S3 charging issues

When I plug my S3 into the charger of a night time and let it do its thing, part way through the night after it has fully charged the S3 comes off charge and then lights the room up a few seconds later when it goes back on to charge (and will repeat this several times throughout the night). I have used the same charger on my S2 and it works fine, just seems to be my S3. I have done a factory reset (as told by samsung) still not changed the issue. The only thing that I could think that may be causing the issue (it only seems to be a recent problem) is that I am using the supplied charger, but with an extension on the usb plug. Could that be the problem why it will not remain on charge for the duration of the night??? Please help my missus is threatening to throw it out the window because it wakes her up
Happened to me too all the time when I was on stock rom. Waked me up several times at night.
When I flashed cyanogenmod the problem was gone.

probably should have clarified that. I am using the stock rom too atm. I was trying to find a solution to this without having to modify the system (custom roms etc) but thankyou for your suggestion...
Mine does it too if I use a non Samsung charger.
Try to change the cable.

I wondered if it may have been the charger, as I was still using my charger from my nexus S which charges the GS2 just fine. It started having issues so I replaced it with my GS3 charger (with a USB extension - powerpoint a long way from where I need it to be). Have taken the extension away tonight. Will see what happens now. Could using a different micro USB lead (ie not the one supplied with the GS3) cause this issue anyone???
Thanks to all those ppl thus far for your help, appreciated....
In my experience, I'm using the bettery power bank to charge my phone and have to use the normal micro usb cable to charge it instead of using the original cable.
It depends on what power source I'm using it as well. The original cable works fine with the AC chargers but not with the power bank bettery pack. It used to work well with battery pack though.

Pocketlint can build inside of the microusb connector.
Use a thin toothpick to clean out the lint.
Thanks for all the replies guys, I am thinking that I may have solved the problem (didn't see the room light up like a xmas tree last night!) Will persist for a few more days, but I have removed the USB extension cable from the equation. Hopefully that solves the problem. If anyone has had a similar experience could you please let me know.
Thanks all for your suggestions....
Nope, didn't fix. Lit up several times last night and this morning. Charging port not dirty etc. could it be mother board related?

I have a feeling it is Samsung rom related. It doesn't happen for me with any AOSP rom.

I was kind of wondering that too I did receive the 4.1.2 update a while back don't think I had problems before than... Was kind of hoping not though

No idea if SDS is a problem with this model .
But just a note that overnight charging then phone is dead multiple reports was the first we knew about the sudden death syndrome .
jje
Mine wouldn't wake up after overnight charge a couple of times while on stock rom. Had to pull battery.

So an update. I sent my phone in to Samsung to repair and apparently the main board was faulty, it was replaced and sent back. Charged it last night and low and behold it still lights up the room. Anyone with a stock ROM experienced this?

I have the exact same problem. Tried it with stock and wiped/factory reset, installed various other roms still have the same issue. Havent tried AOSP/Cyanogenmod though.
Yes. I wiped and did the same on advice from Samsung did nothing except wipe all my settings. Spoke with Samsung HO yesterday and asked if it was some strange new feature, was told definitely not and that I should have it looked at again. So back to the repair centre I go. Will keep you posted. Thanks for all input thus far

Update: problem solved. Turns out the charging USB was not the correct one. Swapped leads and have gone two nights thus far... thanks to all for suggestions

It seems to me...
It seems to me that the charging problem only happens when there are notifications waiting. As long as there are no notifications waiting, the red LED is on and the phone charges just fine. When a notification comes in and the blue LED starts flashing, charging stops or slows to a crawl or starts discharging. The longer this condition continues, the hotter the phone gets. After clearing the notifications, the red LED comes back on and the phone starts charging normally.
This seems to happen with Samsung chargers and off brand chargers.
Again, I don't know if this really happening. It just seems to all coincide.
my charging problem is (somehow) solved...
I have my battery charging problem solved this way:
On Stock ROM I wasn´t able to charge at a descent rate (10h+). Neither made a difference if the system was turned on or off.
For my solution you will need a kindle MicroUSB charger with 5.0V 0.85A output - or simmilar (?!) This perfoms best with my setting. No other MicroUSB-charger worked for me!
I then did the following:
1. Installed ClockworkMod 6.0.3.2 touch
2. installed CyanogenMod_10.1_2013_05_07 plus an additional openpdroid framework patch.
3. installed GAPPS 20130301
4. Siyah Kernel v1.9.1
5. installed STweaks (from Playstore) - this one is important
6. open STweaks and go to MISC / AC CHARGE and changed it to 1200mA
7. from now on use a KINDLE charger to charge my S3
Now my S3 charges perfectly when turned on. If I turn it off the system still loads the battery VERY slow. So I guess It might have to do with something in the kernel / bootloader.
Hope this helps others.
Does anyone have found out how to speed up charging time when the system is off?

Gear died

Well i havent used my gear for a while, but today i decided that i will start using it again. Took it out, plugged it into my laptop it started charging so i started thinking that i want to turn it on and play with it while its charging so i turned it on... Booting and no problems
Stupid me decided immideatly after boot that i should plug it into a socket so it would charg faster, well the same second i plugged my gear of my laptop it died and now its completely dead... it wont react to charging it wont boot.... nothing....
I tried searcing but i didnt find anything that solved my issue...
This must be my worst week of all time... i left my N3 at the service center yesterday hopefully the Gear dosent need to join...
i had similar issue. but i just kept pressing and holding the power button many times and one time i got a samsung logo that said 'rebooting' or 'restoring', don't remember.. but everything is ok now.

EDIT: somehow someway it woke up while i was doing something else... Dissapointed in samsungs products....
Seems to be a common issue if not used in a while

It is a common problem with any device that goes completely dead, give 5 min or so it will build up enough battery to show it is charging, it has happened a couple of times on my Infinity tablet, gear, a couple phones and my note 3
