Hey,
Some very bad news: i am with my friend right now, but he dropped his sgm in a car accident. . (Friend is ok) The phone hit the ground very hard, now the screen is shatterd out and the front keys are out.
Now the problem is.. that he is in warranty and would like to bring it to samsung care, but his phone is running minisIII (costum rom), and he cant flash it back.
The phone still boots, if you push the sound buttons you hear sound, but the front keys are slammed out, so he cant start in download mode.
Is there any way he can start it in download mode to flash stock rom back?
Very thanks if you wanna help.

Why? your friend must only repair the body of galaxy mini and not the software then i think that is not a problem also if your friend keep the custom rom.
Isnt it that they wont repair it if its running costum?

I don't know sincerely, i'm not a samsung service boy but i think that for body problems is not needed go back to stock rom, i think that go back to stock rom is needed only for software or hardware issues about the rom and then if you have a custom rom you lose the warranty because is your fault if the device is damaged, but for body problems is not fault of rom then you do not should lose your warranty, however you should speak with a samsung service boy for be sure, and then about the download mode you can also enter in download mode from the terminal emulator.

guys the OP say that the ****ing front keys
are out (which mean the home button) so actually he can"t boot in dl mod, but i think that the service will repair it since it's not a software problem

...depends of damage, if is little maybe they repair for free, for example to a my friend it was broken the glass of display but they have repaired for free in warranty, then i think that if the damage is little (few money) they repair for free.
P.s.
however you have understood bad that one that i mean, i mean that if you install a custom rom and then you do some damage you lose your warranty because is your fault and not fault of samsung if you have damaged the device then after you must pay for repair, in warranty the samsung repair only manufacturing issue, and in theory for all the rest you should pay, but the samsung is a big manufacturing and also serious then repair almost all in warranty for business for get more samsung users.

Okay. We will try to send it up.
But if they only repair small. Eeer..
The screen is not broken, its out of the phone. You can see the internals. The body is completely destroyd, but the hardware is still working, if you call or sms the phone it makes sound, it seems to be connected to wifi, coz we can find it in our network..
Tommorow we go to the samsung center.
I will tell what they sayd.

Yes but if the damage is little they repair for free, but the damage of domini99 is not little then i think that he must pay for repair.
And i think it's all written in guarantee. Physical damage is NOT covered, at least in europe.

Hahaha...maybe you don't understand that the samsung has business interest, i've already said that to a my friend they have repaired the broken glass for free in warranty and the broken glass is a physical damage pikachu then that one that is written on the warranty depends always from they and is not law.
Somehow I don't believe in this, what would be their interest in repairing/replacing broken screen for free? Sorry mate, but it doesn't make any sense to me...

I don't know for sure, ask to they, i know only that the glass was completely broken and they have repaired for free, i can only suppose that they repair this damages in warranty so the people remains happy to samsung and samsung service and so then the people buy others samsung devices.
Well, now I can see the point...

If only inspecting costs that much, you should buy a new one....

Indeed, chances are it will be close to 50% of the price of a new one with the chance of them messing it up instead of fixing it. And you will be without a tablet during the repairs (which can be 5 weeks + from what I've read others say). Probably best to cut your losses and get a new one. But since it's apparently a hard to give answer, I'm beginning to become curious as well
Guys,
I just dropped my Note 3. It has a caselogy case on it but the screen went dark after got dropped. The screen has not cracked or anything. I can hear the notifications. I can even pick up calls by guessing the unlock swipe on the screen. The screen stays black or I see lines some time.
Can you gurus help me figure out what could be the problem ?
Thanks in advance.
The problem is you dropped your phone and the case didn't do squat!
You basically have 2 choices.
1. Send in for warranty exchange. Since the screen isn't cracked the store should be able to swap phones. Or you can send in for warranty to Samsung.
2. Void your warranty and open her up. It's possible something became jarred lose. Do some investigation.

I think, you should go for exchange as per the basis of warranty.
Just yesterday I was browsing the web on mi3 and I had s problem.
There are strange lines on the screen. Sometimes they just go away but they return back.
I am running miuiv6 latest 4.9.5.
Is this a hardware problem or a software problem?
Any one else had this problem?
I too am facing the same problem
My screen now has those strange lines permanently. Will have to take it to the service centre. :crying:

I am helping a buddy replace his lcd and in the process of taking it apart and disconnecting the ribbon cable for the battery he managed to rip the connection to the mother board completely off:/ I'm wondering if anyone has a fix or a place that it can be sent to in order to get this fixed or if the device is now only good for parts. Thanks for your advice in advance

I think you can send it to Motorola for repair... but it'll cost almost as much as a new phone.
Well a little silicon and we got it to boot but the new digitizer don't work? I'm at a loss for what's wrong the battery connection shouldn't affect the digitizer if I'm not mistaken correct?

Well, of course juice flows from the battery to digitizer, so incorrect battery connection may deprive digitizer of power.
Sorry if I've misunderstood your question.

The battery supplies power to the digitizer of course. But maybe I'm misunderstanding your question.
