Droid 4 Stock deodexed apps via xUltimate (needs work) - Motorola Droid 4

I deodexed my stock droid 4 apps with xUltimate.
I don't recommend using this, it basically deletes the phone app, messaging app, contacts app, and camera app.
in the zip are the deodexed apks, framework, and original framework. i accidently deleted the original phone, bluetooth share, messaging, contacts and camera as there was errors when deodexing them. i have restored the original back to my phone but the apps were still missing.
these are basically for developmental use.

[Q] Swap Messaging Apps between ROMs

Hi All,
I'm on the AT&T Captivate and have an issue with some of the ROMs that are out here. I am currently running the Cognition B9.1.2 ROM and LOVE it! My issue is that I am in Canada on the Rogers network and have found that certain messaging apps record incorrectly the received time of incoming SMS messages. There are tools in the Market to sort of fix this but I have found that some ROMs (Thinking of the "Tayutama's JPM Froyo w/Xcaliburinhand's Re-oriented Kernel - 10/28/2010" as an example where this error does not occur. I was looking at modifying the messaging app between those ROMs but was unsure how to do that.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The text message time issue is not due to the Cognition ROM, it's because of how Rogers/FIDO do a timestamp adjustment in addition to your phone doing a timestamp adjustment.
You can either have your timezone changed, or download SMS time fix from the market.
Had the same problem myself!
Cheers,

Below are the steps I used to restore the AOSP Email app. designgears had added the AOSP Email client to earlier ROMS but reverted to the TW Email app because of too many complaints. I found that the AOSP Email app is much more reliable than the TW. You should be able to perform similar steps to install a different messaging apk. Let me know if this helps at all. I altered the instructions to the mms.apk instead of the Email.apk that I replaced.
1.) Find the messaging .apk file from the rom of your choice. Usually in /system/app/ folder.
2.) Connect your phone to the computer and move the mms.apk file you retrieved from the other rom to the root of your sdcard.
3.) Backup your current mms.apk with Titanium or manually copy it to another location on your phone.
NOTE: You may need to backup your phone settings so you can restore your launcher after clearing cache in the final step to avoid having to replace all of your home screen icons.
4.) Using Root Explorer or Astro, copy the mms.apk copied to your sdcard into the folder /system/app/ to replace the current app.
5.) Return to the home screen. At this point you should no longer see a messaging icon on your dock.
6.) Go to Applications->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
7.) Clear the cache on the TWLauncher Application.
8.) Return to the home screen and you should now see the email icon has returned to the dock.
9.) Restore TWLauncher settings with Titanium to restore home screen icons that were removed in the cache.

Would this also work if I wanted to replace the stock sms/mms messaging app on the latest cognition rom and replace it with something like Handcent, Chomp or Shady?

[Q] lost samsung contacts and phone apps

I rooted my samsung galaxy note and then installed RocketRom V7. I then installed Kalagas Mixed theme for better looks.
I wanted to change the contacts and the phone looks, so I downloaded these apks from galaxy note apps and themes forum
and copied them in /system/app using root explorer in ROM Toolbox utility.
I made copies of Contacts.apk and Phone.apk before overwriting them.
Unfortunately, now I dont see anything for contacts and phone icon at the bottom of the screen and google search app
is not searching any of my contacts. I changed the permissions of these apps to 644 also, but nothing has changed.
Fortunately I have GO Dialer installed and I can make cals.
I tried replacing contacts.apk and phone.apk with the backup, reflashed RR V7 ROM after cleaning cache and dalvik chache. Nothing has worked.
How should I go about it?
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
Afaik, from experience of trying alternative diallers and contacts and having the same problem, there is no way to restore dialler and contacts apps without doing factory reset. Don't know why. Maybe its integrated thoroughly with the framework or something.
Better get clarification on this though.

I've just been notified that you can copy the apks back to original location if you're rooted although it never worked for me...

[Q] inverted contacts and google dialer

I was hoping someone may know how to do this because other have gotten it to work.
This link has many inverted apps on it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519733 (see page 26 for a blackedout moto x Google dialer zip)
(Many nexus 5 apps work fine on the X) The blackedout MMS works without a hitch however the inverted contacts and dialer are more tricky. I have an (all of them) I'm rooted but have an unlockable bootloader. Flashing does not work for me. Opening the zip I can move
Apks in their respective folders and change permissions. Now this works fine when the zip is only an
apk, however if there are other files like update binary and script I do not have any luck. Looking
online there are a million how two's for using a file browser to install just system apks but not ones that
have extra files in the zip.
