[Q] Bricked Droid - Motorola Droid 3

Hello guys,
I know I don't often write on the forum, but I really need help.
I hope no one asked already about this, because I searched.
I did something stupid.
When I was installing recovery with a new version of SafeStrap, the application crashed, I restarted several times the app, but it would keep crashing while installing.
So stupidly I thought restarting the phone would help the app to not crash anymore.
So now it's in a boot-loop.
I now I can maybe recover the device if I factory reset it.
But I want to know if I can fix it or recover my data in any way. Because I have some critical data on the phone ?
I would be very thankful if anyone can help me with that, and will be glad to do a Paypal donation for some beer.
Kindly,
Raf

I know there is this method "Fast/Easy unbrick - Droid 3 (XT862)" but it will make me loose data..

flashing fastboot files, does not wipe user data, but depending on what is causing bootlooping, wiping data may be necessary.
you need to flash the correct system files, do you know which system version is phone, 890, 906...?

[Q] Nexus one After upgraded to Froyo rebooting..

Hi,
My friend upgraded his Nexus one to Froyo OTA.After that his device started rebooting when make calls or access any options in menu.
Here are the details of his device as follows.
Version 2.2.1.
Build : FRG83D
BaseBand: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
He gave me to solve it,but i am pretty much new to android OS can someone help me how to proceed. How to solve it..?
Regards,
NouB.
Maybe he can give it to someone else?
If your friend doesn't care about losing his data, settings, etc, then just do a factory reset.
If he doesn't want to lose data, then you'll have to root to backup, then start clearing data, cache, etc...

He already tried factory reset. This device doesn't have any data,in-fact i also tried several times factory resets but it is in the same state. It is still rebooting.
downgrade or upgrade any solution for this issue..? Please guide me.
NouB.
Try the wiki for the unroot/restore guide, following the passimg method. Not sure it will work on FRG83D, though...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus
If it doesn't work, root with SuperOneClick (search the N1 dev section), and install a custom recovery. You can then install anything you want.
Read the wiki - most of what you need is there...

Resetting gmail or factory resetting rooted NC?

Stupid question, but is there anyway to factory reset an internally rooted nook? I don't even really want to reset it, I just need to make my primary email something else so I can sell it without having someone have access to my email account through android market.
Thanks.
I had this problem too, except I used a friends backup to flash my new one, and tried the factory reset option, which just rebooted the device, and nothing else..
I ended up having to reflash it with a clean ROM..
What about removing gapps data and cache and then flashing gapps again? Just thinking out loud here.. no guarantees..

I read to do that in the net, too, but as weird as it sounds, I can't find google apps in the list of apps in my manage applications section of settings.
There's no 'gapps' application. You need to find market, gmail, Google framework, etc..
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Sorry for the dumb response with the gapps thing. I went ahead and cleared the data on all those google programs, email, gmail, market etc. Anything else I need to do? I really don't know what you guys mean by 'reflash'. Sorry... but thank you!
Ok, good news guys. I got both "email" and "gmail" to completely forget about me. Bad news , the option to clear data on the market is completely greyed out. So I can't seem to get rid of my data on there, and it stills allows me to buy apps on the market. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help so far!
EDIT: MAJOR problem!
I tried putting in the Clockwork recovery IMG and the new version of the stock os, but it seemed to boot normal. I tried rearranging the files, but now when I try to book the NOok up, card or no card, it does nothing . Did I just brick this ?
Certainly not.. format the SD and burn the cwr img again.
Just check that you do it right, it has been explained thousands of time on the forum.

Unable to download from Google App Market

Hi guys,
I have recently downloading the new Cyanogenmod for the Milestone, and although its a pretty good mod, I haven't been able to download things from google market. I have installed GAPPS when it was required, and I can navigate the market fine, it even picks up my bought purchases. However, when I click on download,it says that it is downloading but the bar doesn't move. I;ve reflashed and rebooted numerous times but that doesnt seem to have fixed the problem. I was wondering if any of you had experienced the same thing and if so, how could I fix it?
I have plenty of space on my phone and my SD card too so I can't see where the problem lies.
update, I have looked around a little, and it may be a problem that I cannot connect to googletalk server. Anyone know how to resolve this?
Also, switching from wireless to 3g to 2g doesn't seem to help either.
Having the same problem with my X10! Will show updates for my existing apps but when I click on them to update it just states that they are downloading and they never update! I have power cycles the phone, stopped the update, installed the Google market updates and tried again, still the same result!
I have a rooted X 10 with 2.1.
Anybody else having the same problem?
totally weird, but everything seems to be in working order now. I didn't do anything at all either.
I had to connect to flashtool and reload the os to get it working again!
Tried finding just the market .she file but wasn't sure which one was the one that was messed up! Didn't want to make it worse so just flashed the whole OS

i faced the same problem too, i've been coping with this for about 2 months on CM6 and now it's kinda getting in my nerves. I can't download from the Market and it's annoying when i want to download some apps in a big hurry. I see that i'm not the only one facing this problem, but may i ask for help here? what can i do to fix this problem? you have my thanks
Did you try flashing the OS again or reloading the CM6 ROM? Mine has been working fine since I flashed my OS again.

Wipe data, then flash the ROM. Google Apps you need to wipe both cache partition and dalvik cache AFTER flashing the ROM.

Having the same problem here, with froyomod.
With cm7 i didn't have any problem at all. Maybe because i flashed 2 weeks ago..
Having the same problem from many days and also cm7 is laggy although I still use it. Somebody recommend something please.

I used to have this problem after extendend periods without a wifi connection... it seemed like my purchases would only download on wifi, whereas free apps would d/l on cellular networks
I do have Market problems from time to time, being unable to download. I've try pretty much everything but nothing helped, except: waiting! If apps fail to download constantly, they'll do just fine the next day ...
It seems that the Market has internal problems that cause this. Also I have this behaviour once in a while: viewing "my apps" in the Market will sometimes (!) only show me the Google Apps (Maps, YouTube, etc.) and all the ones that I purchased but *no* free apps at all.
Same again: waiting some time will restore the original (and correct) list.

I think that might just be the limitations of the Gapps we flash. I get those same issues, but a simple reboot fixes everything, nothing to worry about!

Phone dead?

This morning my phone froze while i was on facebook, and the only way i could get it working again was to take out the battery. So this worked, all is well in the world! Then this afternoon, it did it again. Just froze while i was in an application.
So i did the battery trick again, except now im stuck in a loop. i turn it on it goes from HTC to cyanogen start up screen, then the a black screen, then back to the cyanogen start up screen. And thats literally all my phone is doing now.
Anybody have any ideas how i go about fixing this issue?
I was running cyanogenmod 7.1, with hboot 1.16 (bootloader unlocked), but it was s-on i used lynts guide to unlock bootloader and install the customer rom (cyanogenmod)
Any help would be great
Thank you

Did you do a full wipe before flashing cm7.1?
Full wipe = factory reset + format /data, /cache and /system.
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA App
yeah i did all of that, ive been running cyanogen 7.1 for about 3 week. and then today it just did this. I can get into hboot menu, i noticed in another topic somebody stated go into recovery and reinstall from sd card. So i did this, but im just stuck in the cyanogen loop again.
Should i try full wiping it all again, and then reinstalling cyanogen again?
hi. try to see if you can restore the HTC RUU. put your phone in fastboot and download this RUU and let it do the work.

hope it works.
right, ive managed to sort it out. I did a factory wipe, and reinstalled the rom and then flashed the rom through CMD becasue ive got hboot 1.16
Is there a way to create a backup or this, and if it ever happens again i can just restore the backup i create, and i dont have to flash the image or use CMD. As its just took ages to set my phone up to how i want it etc.
I know i have something called nandroid backups but im not really sure how to use that to its full advantage?
I'm sure somebody knows?

Nandroid backup is a backup which backups the whole system. Including contacts, apps, data, etc.
Cool eh? And not to forget it will backup your current rom.
To do nandroid backup, you have to boot to recovery (e.g. clockworkmod). Select backup and restore, then press backup. Once done, you're done!
Keep in mind if you flashed another rom and wanted to restore the backup you've done, you have to take the boot.img, restore via recovery, and then flash boot.img via fastboot.
It could be found at /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups/2011.12.29 - 21.15/boot.img
About the 2011.12.29 - 21.15 (example), that is an info on what date and time (obviously) you did a nandroid backup.

The only 'maintenance' you can do that doesn't affect your setup and installed apps would be to Clear Cache and Clear Dalvik Cache in recovery mode. If you perform a Full Wipe/System Reset, you will lose you installed apps, messages, settings ,etc.
Hi tpbklake,
In terms of maintenance, you could always check out a couple of apps I use regularly.
SD Maid and Root Explorer are a good way of keeping your SD card clean and healthy and help clear up inconsistencies in directories.
They don't make much of a difference to the functionality of the phone drastically, but do help nonetheless.
Hope it's of some use to you.

[Q] Reset to Factory Erased Everything, How to Recover Files on Internal Storage

Guys, I do apologize if I created this thread on an inappropriate way. I'm desperate. I Updated my HTC One to Android 5.0.2 through OTA. As it's recommended, I did a Factory Data Reset. NOW EVERYTHING IS LOST, MY PHOTOS,MY CONTACTS AND SMS BACKUPS, EVERYTHING. I did Factory Data Reset Before, But It Never Erased those files. I Don't know whether its because of Android 5 or not. BUT PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME TO RESTORE THOSE DELETED FILES, I'd be MOST GRATEFUL. I DO APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. MY PHONE IS NOT ROOTED and it's Completely STOCK. I Tried Several Recovery Apps, However as HTC one only has Internal Storage, the File System is not known, therefore, None of them Detected it.
ONCE AGAIN, THANKS IN ADVANCE TO THOSE WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS, IT'S TRUELY VERY VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME TO RETRIEVE THOSE LOST DATA. THANKS GUYS ...

There's no way of recovering those files unless rooted and even then I don't think it would work there gone sorry. Next time back up photos using sync manager on PC and use HTC backup it saves a lot of heartache.
