I'm upgrading my htc one x to the one and I was wondering if it's worth paying for the developer edition online or even the unlocked version... See I'm on atnt and I'm stuck I a contract so either way I'm paying full price. If I buy the phone at the store I won't have to wait to get it... I unlocked and rooted each of my other phones so I'm planning on doing the same with this one... I'm just impatient so I really don't wanna wait... Thank for ur opinions..

I can only speak to the at&t version and not the dev unit. However, I've also had the one x and one x+, this phone is so much better than both in every single way.
My favorite part of this phone is the soundcard. While this is by no means any kind of pro-audio device, I have yet to ever enjoy music this much from a phone through my denon d2000 headphones.

I'll also follow up and say to toss the factory headphones. Things are garbage.

With the atnt version my understanding is it can run the same roms as the developer version right? I'm thinking since htc unlocked or dev version will get updates faster than the atnt version. So if htc releases an update can we us a rom based on the unlocked or dev update before atnt releases it? That's my main concern...

The dev edition has not seen a single update. Looks like it will not get a good update schedule. Unless it's cheaper for the dev edition or if you have tax go buy it from AT&T.

I tried to check for official software update manually after reading that ICS is available for incredible S. My Phone still says "No Updates".
How do we know which region my phone belongs to? Phone was purchased in New Zealand. Its unlocked.
Thanks

The phone felt slow as hell and the UI was very laggy after the update... Disabling useless apps and a restart fixed it. Now it's just as fast as ever... One app, "office..." something, can't remember it's name seemed to slow down the phone and eat lots of ram. I really noticed a large performance boost after disabling it. I'm using docstogo anyway so I don't care...
Just wanted to let you know this in case your phone runs like a crawl just after the update...
I had to wait a good 30 minutes after the update to get my phone running smoothly. It was syncing and updating a ton of shot. Now it runs nice.
Still a bit dissapointed that I still can't find a way to switch off carousel animation. I really missing scrolling wallpapers

keep in mind if you're getting a One X and it comes with 2.20 on it, there's no root available yet. So it doesn't matter how many devs they have for the device, until they achieve root you won't be able to use any of their stuff.

yep so the vivid is currently looking like a better option LOL
Got the Vivid when it first came out - this phone can't help but create mixed feelings:
Cons:
- Phone is heavy
- Battery life so-so, especially now that LTE is active
- Difficulty to unlock the phone means limited developers
Pros:
- Nice big screen with good quality (at full-brightness, nearly as good as S3 or HTC One X)
- Good camera and GPS (coming from the Captivate which was disastrous in both lol)
- Has FM radio, external SD cards and removable batteries - most of the top Android phones these days are missing at least one of these
The difficulty to develop is probably the biggest downside, but after almost a year I've finally dived into custom ROMs. Unlocked the bootloader, got S-Off thanks to the wire trick, even SIM Unlocked! Using Holis ROM, which is great, should tide me over until next spring when I'm eligible for an upgrade.
So in conclusion, while the Vivid was subpar under GB, since ICS came out it's been really nice. But I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone buying this phone unless it was cheap.
What is a vivid. Its not available in the UK

Can't unlock the att one x (xl) without super cid which requires root. 2.20 has no root, so no HTCdev unlock. Att won't allow the bootloader to be unlocked
The intl one x as well as the s and v are htcdev unlockable

I think it's either called the Raider or the Velocity in the UK. As far as I know, it's Raider in Canada (I can confirm that one at least since I own one), and Velocity in Aus/NZ.

It was a good run, but I think I'm going to retire my Vivid and get a One X+. Thanks to all the devs who continued to support the phone, after the situation. It's been great guys, thanks for making a great community around this little phone.
I recently heard you guys achieve root on your Atrix HD and wanted to congratulate you. But that's not the only reason I am posting here.
A new update came out for the AT&T HTC One X came out late August and updated the firmware to Android 4.0.4 and many people accidentally updated and lost root. Not to mention that AT&T is now shipping the HOX with the newest software to their stores so no point in trading for another.
So what I am saying is, the previously known exploit has been patched and now there is no known exploit to achieve root.
Why do you care? Well there is a $500+ growing bounty to whoever can achieve root and repeat the process with other phones. Check it out.

Hi,
I'm use a One X right now and really want to lose the X
I hate HTC for not integrating a SDCard slot in the international versions of the One, and really like the japanese One (HTL22). I might buy that one.
Few questions though I hope someone could answer: Does the HTL22 have a SIM lock? And will it be able to use LTE on dutch networks?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
/Cacti
I am planning to do the same. I am considering Japanese variant of HTC One (HTC J One)

So far I've tried flashing android revolution 10.3 and TrickDroid 7.5 with no luck. That could be my noobness; this is my first Android phone. But it seems that it's perhaps too different to be properly accommodated. It's special enough to require a special build of TWRP.
The tool for unlocking the bootloader and getting s-off works well, though.
And as for the OP's question: I'm pretty certain it's sim locked. But I'm not sure. Is there an easy way to tell? Pretty much all phones here in Japan are locked.

Still can't figure out if LTE would be possible, but since my Phone usualy don't last longer then 1 or 2 years I guess I would take that chance; the 4G/LTE is coverage is still low in The Netherlands. And 3G is sufficient for me for now.

I'll be getting one as well. If its on Sprint, even better...especially since it will be tri-band and compatible with Spark.
It already passed through the FCC supporting all of Sprint's cdma and lte bands among others, this was back in August before the info got pulled. So even though it hasn't been officially announced for sprint I don't see why it wouldn't come to sprint when it supports all of sprints frequencies.

only thing im hesitant about is the weak IR blaster compared to the ONE and the lack of an awesome TV app!
if it has tri-band Sprint LTE, I'm dumping my One.
I'm almost certainly going to stick with my One, as the spec bump isn't big enough to justify switching, and I'm really enjoying this phone. However, what really excites me is that there is at least a chance now that going forward, nexus devices will be on sprint. I can wait and see how this one plays out, then at the end of next year when the nexus 5 squared or 6 or whatever it is is announced, I will have a cheaper, easier way to upgrade early. Also, should something catastrophic happen to my one, I would have the option to just get a nexus as well.
In the past all nexus devices for Sprint were released a year later then it's gsm counterpart. If this happens again then its a definite no from me.
Its already passed thru FCC with triband(Spark) so i getting it....
Eh it's a nice phone but I would get bored with it. There would be no reason to flash a Rom.
