HTC J One (HTL22) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm use a One X right now and really want to lose the X
I hate HTC for not integrating a SDCard slot in the international versions of the One, and really like the japanese One (HTL22). I might buy that one.
Few questions though I hope someone could answer: Does the HTL22 have a SIM lock? And will it be able to use LTE on dutch networks?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
/Cacti

I am planning to do the same. I am considering Japanese variant of HTC One (HTC J One)
Is there any info on ROOT and custom Rom compatibility?

So far I've tried flashing android revolution 10.3 and TrickDroid 7.5 with no luck. That could be my noobness; this is my first Android phone. But it seems that it's perhaps too different to be properly accommodated. It's special enough to require a special build of TWRP.
The tool for unlocking the bootloader and getting s-off works well, though.
And as for the OP's question: I'm pretty certain it's sim locked. But I'm not sure. Is there an easy way to tell? Pretty much all phones here in Japan are locked.

Thanks.
Still can't figure out if LTE would be possible, but since my Phone usualy don't last longer then 1 or 2 years I guess I would take that chance; the 4G/LTE is coverage is still low in The Netherlands. And 3G is sufficient for me for now.

Early reports state LTE doesn't stick.

Those of you on AT&T might want to wait/flash the older radio.
Sounds like if you have root you can flash 4.2.1 radio to get it back though.

Yes they will stick on the LTE/GSM, LTE/XXX settings, but you won't get a LTE connection from those settings.
Bummer but since I have no LTE in my area no biggie

Yes it does. I'm able to choose LTE Only. Can't test if it works for sure as I don't have an LTE plan.

I got this official answer from Google Regarding LTE incompatibility on new radio.
"Nexus 4 hardware and software were not designed to be compatible with LTE, and future LTE capability on today's Nexus 4 will not be possible because of hardware and software incompatibilities. We've heard reports that some users have reconfigured their Nexus 4 to enable LTE under rare circumstances, but it is uncertified and unsupported."
I live in an ATT area, but Not in one that has a frequency that works on the N4, so it's good to see you guys brought back to earth lol. JK that sucks wish I could use LTE

It suck big time. Especially since you buy something knowing LTE can be turned on and then the company that made a device that's so open to everyone, now makes an update specifically fuking up the LTE.
This is exactly what Apple would do, nice going Google

Upgrading to HTC One

I'm upgrading my htc one x to the one and I was wondering if it's worth paying for the developer edition online or even the unlocked version... See I'm on atnt and I'm stuck I a contract so either way I'm paying full price. If I buy the phone at the store I won't have to wait to get it... I unlocked and rooted each of my other phones so I'm planning on doing the same with this one... I'm just impatient so I really don't wanna wait... Thank for ur opinions..

I can only speak to the at&t version and not the dev unit. However, I've also had the one x and one x+, this phone is so much better than both in every single way.
My favorite part of this phone is the soundcard. While this is by no means any kind of pro-audio device, I have yet to ever enjoy music this much from a phone through my denon d2000 headphones.
---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:05 PM ----------
I'll also follow up and say to toss the factory headphones. Things are garbage.

With the atnt version my understanding is it can run the same roms as the developer version right? I'm thinking since htc unlocked or dev version will get updates faster than the atnt version. So if htc releases an update can we us a rom based on the unlocked or dev update before atnt releases it? That's my main concern...

The dev edition has not seen a single update. Looks like it will not get a good update schedule. Unless it's cheaper for the dev edition or if you have tax go buy it from AT&T.

[Q]: Google Wallet on the One

Hi,
Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere on XDA, but I was just wondering if anyone has managed/tried to get Google wallet to work on our beloved HTC one?
Many thanks in advance for all feedback.
I've tried a few times with various firmware versions, and from what I gather unless you are on Sprint it seems rather futile.
Furthest I've gotten is with the modoco mod is the "setting up wallet, this could take 5 minutes." message, but nothing ever happens. I would love to get it working, so hopefully somebody figures it out.

I too am waiting to get wallet on the HTC One. Anyone have it?
I just got my htc one about half an hour ago as I'm waiting for it, I asked the same question. It can be done by pulling the nfc secure files from the sprint version, flashing that, then flashing the modoco mod. If you try without the libs then it won't work. I've learned this from the galaxy s3 forums. We need someone that knows how to pull the libs from the sprint htc one and make a flash able zip. And I think this is the wrong section for questions lol

how come it only works in the U.S? I was reading in the thread that they disable something in the phone so google doesnt know the phone is rooted etc?
The modaco method does not work. It comes with an insufficient privileges notification stating "insufficient secure element privileges for this system image (release-keys)" I really miss this app. I used it so much, was upset when i found out it only works for sprint.
I didn't get insufficient privileges, but it still would never setup. If you got yours to work in the U.S. krps, are you GSM or Sprint? And did you follow the instructions for modaco verbatim or did you do anything different?
Logcat shows no SMX found even on the google play experience device.

Sprint/HTC hasn't released or leaked a 4.2.2 version so those using 4.2 will end up with force close cycles from NFC. (I've tried every combination of libs)

[Q] HTC One and iPhone 5

Hey I have a sprint HTC One and im wondering if i trim my sim card and put it on a Sprint iPhone 5 would it work ? If it does can someone tell me.. I just want to swap phones whenever i want too
You have to call sprint in order to swap phones. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the SIM card is only for international uses. Not Sprint to Sprint

I don't think it works like that on sprint see the sim card is just to get on lte. I remember when I got my replacement HTC one the sim card stayed the same but in the system sprint said it didn't match the one they had on record so my phone wasn't connecting to LTE. After a quick call and putting the right numbers in I got LTE. So you would still need the phone to be active which involves calling sprint to do the swap

Yes. The phone uses the sim card to connect to LTE. That's the only reason it is there. Your phone number isn't attached to it like GSM. So swapping the sim card won't do anything.

Pretty sure I know a thing or two. I mean you can trim it down and stuff it in a different phone but that's not going to swap your phone number to that phone.

[Q] Butterfly s 901s no service

Hi guys ive purchased this beautiful device which is supposed to be the unlocked version but for some reason im not able to use it as yet. I live in the Bahamas and the network bands we use are GSM 2G and 3G 850 and 1900 according to the specs of the butterfly s this is supposed to work. When I insert my sim I don't get any signal and it says no service and no sim ive even purchased an unlock code but never used it cause I was never prompted by the device to enter an unlock code. The sim works fine in another device, what do you think my problem is and what can I do to have this issue solved.

As a tip, it's just the GSM frequencies that are on 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. HSPA+ is on only 850 MHz.
Hit up daor though, he might be able to get that working for you.
