Hi there,
I recently found that my chinese handwriting keyboard is grayed up and I can't load the keyboard to do handwritings....
Are there anyway to fix it?
Thank you!

It is actually still available even if you can't click the box - I have the same problem.
When you are in a typing area, pull down the notification bar and select the icon for "Select input method"
You should be able to still choose DioPen Chinese IME
It seems to default to an English keyboard, but don't worry - select the gear icon which is on the lowest line of the keyboard - second key from left.
Switch to handwriting box.
Then on the bar the comes up - select the "Ab" button - the button next to the space bar.
Choose "all" or "stroke"
Voila! You should now be able to write in Chinese again. Unfortunately, mine only does simplified... Sigh!
Thanks, it is working now

I'm not sure why android continues to so this, but why can't they allow for long press options on the keyboard? My phone keyboard shows the numbers as long press options at the top, my tablet does not.
The only long press options on the keyboard are punctuations.
Is there a way to fix this? Use phone keyboard on tablet?

I wonder why that is as well. I looked through all the keyboard settings and didn't see an option for that but really would like to have it.
Try the Swype Beta keyboard (google it). Numbers are a long press.
Not really interested in swype or any of the other keyboard options. I like stock functions the best, just curious about the long press buttons missing in tablet format.
Personally that's the reason why I use stock keyboard on my Tablet. I use Swiftkey on my phone because it's quick, and the Gingerbread keyboard isn't as nice as the stock Jelly Bean. I really like how it isn't cluttered and is just clean.
Hi, apologies if this is already being discussed - could not find a thread on it. My new goal now that I have voice search enabled is to get a keyboard enabled that would enable dictation entry of things like emails, not just search bars. I've heard of NookColor tools being used on other versions of the kindle as a keyboard manager, and I'll try that out myself but I wanted to see if anyone has already had success here using that or some other way. I'm wondering, would any version of the ICS keyboard be a go?
I've got a rooted 8.9

There is some discussion here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898390
I have tried Go Keyboard, SlideIT, and SwiftKey 3 Tablet. They all could not display properly when I went from Landscape to Portrait Mode.
Be careful, this is an area (Changing default keyboards) I have seen a higher number of Bricked Kindles.
Same issue. In landscape the nav bar renders over the keys making it difficult to hit the P using hackers keyboard + android layout. Still worth a shot tho.

The first thing I would recommend is for you to download alternate keyboard application from the Google market.

You can download Swype Beta at beta.Swype.com. If you are using Dolphin be sure to switch to Android mode, or it will not download. Swype Beta uses Dragon dictation and its the best out there. Period.

I use touchpal, downloaded and installed from play store, which seems to work fine. But I use the tablet in portrait mode only.
Upgraded Keyboard
I just tried the Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboards. Both worked great in the Portrait Mode, as soon as I switched to Landscape, the keyboard split in an unusable fashion. I will continue to test different keyboards.
I've been happy with the "Hacker's Keyboard'.
I got go keyboard working. But when you switch to landscape mode you loose letters on the right. But there is a build prop edit that removes the home button bar at the bottom of the kindle. Then you can use button Savior application to get your home button and back button back. The thread is in the themes and app forums

Thank you for the feedback, I will give this a try.
Hi all,
Ever since I have a GSA I have been searching for an option to change what happens when i press the menu button. Before i had a HTC One S and i really loved its application switcher. I was wondering if there is any way to get the application switcher open on pressing the menu button, and then show the menu on longpressing. I know that the CM10 diego is working on supports it but it is still in ALPHA so i do not want to install it for daily use. Anybody any idea how I would achieve this on any other ROM?
Thanks
System/usr.
Find keylayout file and edit it.
I do not respond to tech support via PM
Sorry, should have mentioned. I already tried to do it through that file, but first of all. I couldn't find the key mapping that corresponds to our hardware key, and second, that leaves me without any functionality to get the options menu to appear since longpress is not handled in that file
