On any and all computing devices i ever owned i could format the drive and reInstall a bootloader and OS. What about flashing The Xperia T bootloader over a formated TL bootloader and flashing the TL Firmware on the T's bootloader, then unlock and rom? For the devs is this possible.
This won't work, as the bootloader status is placed in the TA partition and that partition is secured.
Changing TA will often lead to a hard brick.
TA partition stores all your device specific information like imei, model, country of origin, bootloader status, drm keys, etc...
A different firmware will never change TA partition, and thus not change your bootloader status

A .TA file can unlock a bootloader. But this requires a lot of development and can cause a hard brick if one mistake is made

i never said TA can't unlock bootloader, i just said flashing a different firmware (T firmware on a TL device) won't help you unlock you device
and the way i read it i implied .TA CAN change your bootloader status, BUT that changing TA will often (ok should've made it almost always) hard brick you device

i lock and relock my bootloader a lot of times for personal reasons , but i hate it that every time i want to unlock my bootlaoder , every thing i have get wiped ,
if i backup my ta partition when i have unlock boot loader , will it work if i restore it when i have locked bootloader , will i get unlocked bootloader with no problems ?
Yes, that works. I do it myself a lot - any firmware. Just have to remember to be on stock based ROM and pure Sony kernel when restoring TA to re-lock bootloader.
Restoring backup of TA made on unlocked bootloader doesn't wipe data either:thumbup:

Hi,
i want to unlock my bootloader, so i made a backup with Devshafts TA Backup v9.10. The backup is a 112kb big zip file and 2mb big, when i uncompress it, i made a dry run to test it, everything seems ok.
To unlock my bootloader i must send my IMEI nr. to Sony.
My Question is, do they notice that i unlocked my XSP, even after relocking it with the TA Backup, by my IMEI nr that they have?
That would mean my warranty is voided even if i relock it?
Or am i wrong at some point?
Thank you for your help!
Well you lost your warranty if you Unlock your bootloader but I've never heard or read somewere that Sony (or the repair places) are using some kind of Database to check which IMEI has been used to get an Unlock Code.
If you relock the bootloader and restore the TA partition there is no evidence of any unlock.

No Backup of the TA partition?
Well thats not smart. Why is no one reading the tutorials?
First lines of the tutorial from Doomlord:
this is the official way to unlock bootloader
if you want to keep ur DRM keys, first root device and then check this out
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. INTERNAL SDCARD will BE WIPED!!!
For Xperia™ devices released 2013 or later (for example Xperia™ Z and Xperia™ ZL), the SD card of your device will be formatted and you will lose all content (for example photos, music, videos) when you unlock the boot loader.
DRM keys WILL be lost forever

older Xperia devices sometimes got issues after unlock of bootloader (BRICK after FOTA update) - you have been warned

This is a copy of my TA partition for Sony Xperia ZR C5502.
Posted if anyone needed.
[WARNING] This needs modding, directly flashing would result in bricking your device.

what ta partition does
TA partition is the drm keys which activate bravia engine, clear audio, etc.
If you bootloader unlock your device these keys are lost, hence I posted it for those who unlock bootloader before backing up their TA partition.

From what I know, using someone else's TA partition would hard brick your phone. Maybe we can modify it in some way, but using it as it is might be dangerous. So it would be good if you post a warning regarding this in OP.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Is your phone C6902? Why in the world would you want to flash antiquated 4.2.2, especially if your bootloader is unlocked. The unlocking guide specifically states you have to be at least on 4.3 in order not to lose camera. If your phone is C6902 and you flashed C6903, you have a wrong baseband.
No. You can't use another phone's TA backup, unless you want to brick your phone.

I am not familiar with SOL23, but if your bootloader is locked, there is no permanent damage. You just need to re-flash the original firmware for SOL23. Try to repair it with Sony flashtool...
You have to restore your phone to original, then, if you want to unlock bootloader, do a TA backup, so that you can restore DRM function in case you would want to relock. If you unlock without backing up, you will lose your DRM key forever...
Hi there everyone, i would like to get my phone to the brand new state. Currently it has unlocked bootloader, latest stock firmware and it is rooted. I also have a backup image of TA partition(BL Locked). Do i need to do anything else than flashing stock firmware and TA partition to preseve all the fuctionality (especially fully working camera)? Will it be possible to unlock the bootloader once again in the future after performing this?

Restoring the TA restores DRM functions, it doesn't relock the BL, which you can't, hence why there are no threads relating to locking the BL of the XZ1 Compact.
