As a preface: I am on JB build .489, rooted with CWM recovery installed. Locked bootloader so there is no custom kernel. I have removed bloatware and installed Xposed Framework, but have not done anything to affect the internet settings.
Now on to the actual problem:
Last night I was on the internet when my phone ran out of batteries. I stuck it onto the charger, offline charging was working fine etc.
Then when I turned the phone back on there was no internet connection whatever. The mobile data "on" in the status bar and in the setting page both work but have no real effect, but when toggled the usual Data warning messages appear, or the data traffic has been disabled message appears too. Yet despite all this no mobile internet signal icon appears in the status bar, and I cannot download internet settings and mms settings.
Wifi is a different story: when toggled in the status bar toggles, the animation for wifi on plays for around 7-10 seconds then stops, no signal is established. In the setting menu however, the actual soft button appears to be slightly greyed out, but I can still toggle that too. But once I do, the text "Turning Wifi On" appears on the page, but nothing else happens besides eventually the Wifi turning itself off. No network is found.
I haven't done anything to cause this, to the best of my knowledge. I have uninstalled the few apps which I installed last night, I have tried hard reboots, waiting until both one vibration or three vibrations when rebooting. I have tried resetting the Xposed frameworks to system default (I know it shouldn't have any bearing on it but still). The only thing that I can think of that I havenn't mentioned is that I used the Busybox installer the other day to update busybox and also install the zipalign option (didn't get round to doing anything with it though, and the internet was working fine after that for atlest a few hours) but then again this should have no bearing on my internet connectivity whatsoever.
Well... There you have it. Any and all recommendations are welcome, though I would also say that I would not like to do the usual "take a backup, repair with PC Companion" method which most people seem to suggest, so anything other than that I would appreciate as advice. I do not have logcat installed but I have ROM Toolbox installed along with a few other Root Utilities so I can get a couple of pieces of information if necessary.
So what do you all think? How do I fix my phone?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried redownloading internet settings through Settings/Xperia/Internet Settings? That might fix the mobile broadband problem

It just says "unable to download"
Bump. Anyone?
Please only bump a thread once every 24 hours.
I would suggest rapairing with PCComapnion or sues.
Maybe restoring a backup.
Take out SIM, give it a clean and re-insert
Apparently removing the SIM card and cleaning it worked! Mods go ahead and close this thread if you want.

Hello,
I'm a newbie regarding Android, I just got a Milestone with MIUI 1.9.9. and I have some problems. First my RAM memory is 0.00 bytes and I don't know why because I'm using only email right now. Second I a have problem with WIFI, I changed the slep policy, and when I activate Wifi it's starting scanning for nothing, no wifi Network appears and when I can connect, after a whie it's disconnecting itself and doesn't reconnect.
I've read that CM7 is the best to install but I don't know how, maybe someone will help me with a turorial, I want to keep MIUI but I have these problems with it.

Try installing the app Script Manager from the Market and running Zeppelinrox's supercharging. A simple search will give you the thread.
What kind of wireless router do you have? What is the encryption?
As for CM7 (and any other ROM), you need wipe your data and both caches.
To do so, you will need to reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition and then wipe data. Then, you flash CM7, wipe both caches, flash the google apps addon, wipe both caches again, change baseband and reboot.
I tried CM7,and now downgrade to CM6 and still no Wifi connection, it's scanning but doesn't show anything. I use a D-Link router, it's open connection. I've read somewhere that on 2.2 or 2.3 based Android versions wifi it's not working. Does anybody know a solution to this issue?...
I really need my WIFI connection.
P.S. The hardware it's ok, I went to a mobile service and they told me it must be software problem.
I'm trying to update to Eclait Teluslite but I have problems in openrecovery with and I get verifying md5 then all failed and E: Failed verifying checksums. Someome told me that with eclair solved the wifi problem
The only wifi problem we have is with the sleep policy
Try to reboot your router.
If it doesn't work try to see if you can get a connection with another one.

It's like this, I installed again MIUI, I like the interface, sometime(rarely) or only one time I can connect to my router, all working, but in a while it disconnects and after that the phone is scanning but it doesn't show me any network, just not in range. And it's doing like this in any MOD. Sleep policy is never, 13 channels, proxy on/off...nothing seems to work to find again the wifi and connect.
Check my signature, and post a kernel log, when it does that.

ok, I hope I got it right and this is the log. Wifi is activated, scanning but my network doesn't show up. I have a N900 that is working just fine with my wifi router.
Accidental call hold (upper-left corner touch issue)
Hi,
I find calls are often put accidentally on hold, as my ear touches the "hold" button on the upper left corner of the touch screen.
The functionality supposed to prevent this (the promixity/light sensor near the center of the upper border) does work when I test it manually, but apparently I tend to keep the phone at the left ear in such a position the ear doesn't cover the sensor all the time.
This has been a recurring issue on the Milestone, both the original firmware and now with cyanogenmod 7.
I remember others commenting on this when the Milestone was new. Anything in Cyanogenmod to resolve the issue? If not, a couple of alternatives come to mind
* switch the phone program to something other than the Motorola original
* if source is available, modify the phone program to have the hold button in a different place, recompile & install the modified phone program
* other suggestions?
UPDATE: Solved the issue: there's an option to hide the Hold button in cyanogenmod 7:
From general settings menu: settings --> call settings --> Hide Hold button

I have now
[ROM] HO!NO! mod CM7.1.0-RC15-11.09.14 and doesn't reach to scan wifi because it's turning on/off over and over.
Update: back to MIUI...HO!NO! moving to slow, lag...still the same wifi problem
Kernel log looks ok .. other then
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): tiwlan0: link is not ready
sorry for late reply. i had problems.
but if it starting to do that by itself "on and off" it's already been discussed as hardware related
does your wireless router has ipv6 enabled ?
try one more time this (without kernel):
logcat -f /sdcard/KernelLog.txt

This morning I found wifi, connected, working very nice and after 5 minutes it disconnected and scanning but network not in range. I restarted the router, forget the network, tried again but nothing.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5QA31IIP - KernelLog.txt
This has been going on for about a month but I finally decided to try to fix it.
It started with my phone seeing my home network. It says "remembered" but it gets stuck in an endless loop of "Connecting, disconnected." It cycles so fast between the two that if you blink you'll miss it.
Things I tried:
-Forgetting the Network(doing this made the problem even worse, I'll explain later)
-Power Cycling everything
-Fxr and other wifi utilities on the market
-Battery pulls
-Factory reset
Since I did the forget network option the network at my home no longer shows up, along any other network I'm around, open or not. It just scans and never finds anything. I can be standing right next to the router and the phone doesn't know it's there.
So my next steps were these:
-Rooted phone
-Deleted bcm_supp.conf in the wifi folder with the wifi off. Didn't change anything.
Got some results when I deleted bcm_supp.conf with the wifi turned on, cleared phone cache, turned wifi off and then turned it back on. At that point the phone could finally see my network again but I was back to the connecting, disconnected problem I started with. That's the only way I can get it to see networks but it still won't connect.
I've all but given up and hoping someone has other suggestions.
U could try flashing a different modem.
What is ur phone set up right now?
Right now everything that I have is stock. 2.2. Only thing I've done is rooted so far in attempts to have more control of getting this fixed and try a few of the fixes i read about from google searches.
I'm admittedly a noob at the higher levels of phone tinkering but I'm not opposed to it obviously, so I'll look up info on flashing a different modem. Thanks.
I had the same problem until I updated to a custom ROM. I went to Pheonix' ROM but it also works on Team Hacksung's Build9.
Hi, I wonder if anybody can help me. Up until the day before yesterday I was using whatsapp fine over wifi (where I am at the moment there is no mobile signal) on my O2 UK Z1 and then whatsapp lost all connection. Everything else on the phone was working fine but no whatsapp. Every message I sent would go to the clock, no information when people were last online and the faq etc. in the settings would not load because of lack of connection.
I uninstalled the app and then installed it again and all was fine, after sending a few messages the same error occurred again. I have now found that if I clear data in the app settings it will connect again, once I have reconfigured the app and restored from backup. I can only assume that there is some sort of buffer which I am clearing as I lose a few messages when I clear data (all since last backup).
Barring doing a delete of all backups and messages does anyone have any other idea. I have looked and the backup files are about 1.7mb so not massive and I have a fair bit of storage available onboard (>7gb).
I was talking to someone with a HTC phone who had suffered similar symptoms but I have googled and searched and can't find a solution.
Any help much appreciated.
Mark
2 weeks off work and no issues, as soon as I have returned the issue has reared it's head so looks like it's something to do with the wifi here. Everything else works fine and fast so I guess I'll just have to live with it

A factory reset for a cheap Whazz, huge work buddy...lol... at last it's an idea but I will try reinstall mobile settings before that or uninstall and reinstall Whatsup.
I work in a very remote location, I have wifi (which is distributed from a satellite feed) out here and for my mobile phone that is the only connection option. When I am away from work whatsapp always works, both over wifi and cellular data. At work I keep my phone in aeroplane mode with wifi turned on to try and preserve some battery (there is no point in my phone constantly looking for a non existent cellular signal).
This morning I deleted all messages in whatsapp, uninstalled the app and re-installed/configured. Usually I get a failure within 24 hours of doing this so we'll see whether this rectifies the issue.
I know I'm not the only person out here that has had the issue so it is either a coincidence or something with the way the wifi is configured here. I just assumed that the wifi would either work or not but, I am not an expert.
Hey all,
On my 2013 Moto X, sometimes when I turn on the wifi tethering the internet doesn't work either on tethered devices, or on my phone. If I turn the wifi tether off, my phone will connect to the internet again.
If I restart the phone and then enable tethering, I can use the internet on any device for a few minutes, then it refuses to connect. Again, if I turn tethering off on my phone, I can then get online on my phone.
I am rooted and Xposed, and don't have gobs of apps on my phone. I can't think of any app that I've installed recently that started this.
Any ideas what I could try to figure out what is going on?
You say it works for a few minutes after reboot. Do you try it immediately after the phone finishes booting up? what I'm getting at is sometimes apps start up on boot but there is a delay, so maybe a root app or Xposed module is interfering, but because of the delay right after rebooting you have a brief window to use tethering.
One way to check this is don't try to tether immediately after rebooting. instead let the phone sit for a few minutes while all the apps that run automatically on boot finish starting up. then try tether, and it should fail.
Check SuperSU to see what apps have root access and see if any of them look suspicious. you can disable superuser access temporarily from within the app.
Also check your Xposed modules. anything that deals with Wi-Fi or data, or has some option in its menus that changes Wi-Fi or data, is a suspect.
If nothing jumps out as suspicious, I'd probably temporarily uninstall Xposed access (just use the uninstall button in the Xposed installer menu, you can reinstall later, your modules will still be there, don't uninstall the actual Xposed installer app) and reboot and try tethering, and if that doesn't help then disable superuser from within SuperSU, reboot, and try tethering.
Safeboot is another option, but I'm not sure how that behaves in regards to having Xposed. Safeboot is accessed by long pressing the Power Off option that appears when you long press the power button.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try them out and see what happens.
I've started disabling some Xposed modules, but I need at least one in order to tether. So I'll disable them all, one by one, until it works.
Okay, so I've been working on this for a while now trying to figure out what is going on... Here's what happening:
If I turn on tethering, it will work for a few mins, then I'll still be connected to the phone hotspot, but I can't go anywhere. Web pages time out, streaming stops, that kind of thing. If I pick up my phone and try to do anything internet related when this happens, I won't have any internet connection on the phone either.
The problem persists if I turn off the hotspot or toggle airplane mode. The only way I can reestablish an LTE connection is to reboot the phone. Until then I won't have any internet connectivity.
Here's what I've done so far, and the problem still persists... Note: I'm on Verizon and have grandfathered unlimited data.
1) I have zwilie's kernel, so I removed that and restored the stock kernel. Problem still persisted.
2) I have xposed installed and several modules. I disabled and uninstalled every module except xposed itself and the moto x tether enabler. Problem still persisted.
3) I used mflash and reflashed system, boot, modems. Problem still persisted.
4) I found a different method of using hotspot that doesn't use xposed. I uninstalled xposed and used the other app. Problem still persisted.
5) I wiped the phone completely and restored to stock 4.4.4 using mflash and the stock 4.4.4 images for my phone. Rooted and reinstalled xposed and moto tether. Problem still persisted. **HT to KidJoe for his excellent guides on flashing**
6) I entered safe mode. However, because that disables all third party apps, I couldn't tether to try that, so that's an unknown.
I don't know what else to try or what else to do. We started using my wife's S4 as a hotspot, but it is starting to exhibit strange behavior as well (data only works for a while, but it will reconnect if I toggle airplane mode). It is also rooted, xposed, and using the tethering enabler.
The only other thing I can think of that I can't try is to reboot in safe mode and try tethering from that. But because the only way I know to enable tethering is to use xposed or a 3rd party app, I can't figure out how to make that work. Also, when I restored my phone, I let it install all my usual apps before I tried tethering again. I don't have a lot of apps, but if anyone knows of ones that may interfere with tethering I'd try uninstalling them.
I'd appreciate other suggestions, please!
Thanks for your time!
{edit} Added HT to KidJoe {/edit}
Okay, I have a couple other things to add...
If I use FoxFi to enable USB tethering, I can tether until the cows come home. This doesn't exactly work for what I'm wanting to do, but it does allow me to tether.
Also, for some really, really, really strange reason, if I change the SSID of the hotspot I can wirelessly tether for a while until a couple devices connect, then it drops out again until I restart the phone.
Am I looking at a really specific, really strange software bug??
If I try to enable bluetooth or Wifi it refuses to switch on
it just tries for a few seconds before giving up
Edit:
[Resolved]
I ended up sending in my device to Hauwei to get repaired, since the device was less then 3 months old they ended up replacing the whole phone with a new one
This may be a dumb question but have you tried restarting / turning the phone on and off yet?
Also sometimes installing a System Update via OTA can fix this problem. (You can redownload the current system software version that is on your phone and just update it on top of the existing system software without losing data).

I have exactly the same problem - "If I try to enable bluetooth or Wifi it refuses to switch on ". Only wifi and bluetooth. Any ideas what should help?
What fw version do you have this effect?
I am on B378 which I got OTA.
When I go to settings, bluetooth and i disable bluetooth there, the switch turns gray and I cannot enable it anymore. luckyly, enabeling BT still works when I do it from the drop down menu.
I have a worse bug with settings, more, mobile network
it worked after the update, but after sometimes enable/disable data roaming, the screen closed by itself and now it is not possible to enter this submenu anymore. when i tap on "mobile network" it briefly shows "no service" in the top left corner but the menu does not open. if I tap mobile network again, the whole settings menu will close.
any idea?
Yes, also B378 and OTA.
And in "About phone" > "Status" > "Bluetooth address" is Unavailable.

I tried installing cm13, after even that failed to fix the problem, I noticed that the mac address I got when using cm13 was the one you normally get before wifi is initialized (I believe it's 00.20.00.00.00 or something)
From my experience from reading the posts on the cm13 port for my old htc one mini 2, these told me that the operating system wasn't seeing the wifi hardware in the phone...
So after relocking the bootloader and flashing the stock rom (still didn't fix anything) it seems that it may be a hardware failure...
