I have a tranperent image which I would like to keep as my background for my lockscreen. By default colour of the lockscreen is black. Is there a way to make it transperent or at least change the background colour of the lockscreen?

It depends on what ROM you're on. Newer ROMs have Lockscreen Wallpaper selection under Settings Tab\Personalize.

I do have that option but it only allow's me to set the image as a wallpaper. But the image that i have is transperent and if i set this image as my wallpaper in the lockscreen, it takes the background colour of the lockscreen which is black. I want to change this colour or rather make it transperent so that my background becomes my today screen.
Anybody with a solution?
I think you would have to develop your own lockscreen.
You could take an existing one and decompile it and see if you can tweak the files.

Basically, you take a lockscreen cab file (search for "Dusk" or "Hashuan" Lockscreen or just lockscreen for your WM version), open the cab using cab programs such as WinCE Cab manager and extract the files. Once you have extracted the files you can browse for the png, bmp or jpgs that tweak them to whatever you want. One issue you may find is that (AFAIK) only jpgs will support transparency so if you find that the background image is in another format, it won't work.
Its a good idea to install the lockscreen first so you know what's what in the image files and also retain the original file names and structure to ensure continuity.
....or, you can just ask a developer (prob w/ a small donation) to make one for you if it's even possible...
So it was quite easy to chance the LauncherPro widgets, just drop a few files into a folder and re-sign. Can this be done with other apps?
Generally everything's looking good, but the BeyondPod widget is so old looking, can I make the background look like that of the YouTube or Google Search widgets?
If I could make the Fancy Widget Weather background lighter, that would be cool too...
(I've used a lighter wallpaper than usual, so you can see what I mean )
Thanks.
**EDIT** Okay, so I simply dropped in the appwidget_bg.9.png and it's kinda worked -
How can I now control the size of the background of the widget?
The best way to theme the widgets (if there is no source for app, like for many/most market apps) is to use apktool to decompile the .apk, this will give you the .9.png files with the guide lines on them, then you can open the .png from the .apk you just decompiled (the best way to keep the widget the same boundaries as the original is just to recreate the image on a layer above the existing layer, with the guide lines and widget background, to be the same width and length as the stock widget background). You can either use apktool to recompile the .apk which will or create the .9.pngs for you, or you can compile them in eclipse.
Use this png instead of the other one on my thread. I need to update it. This will size nicely on your Music widget and also Fancy Widget.
How would I go about making the launcher pro widgets transparent?

Not quite what I was after, lol
Going to edit that one myself, see how I get on
**EDIT** Okay, so I've made the background a little smaller (and without the white background) but the buttons still stick to the very edges.

Click on the attached image first and then save it. Right clicking and saving results in a loss of transparency, hence a broken .9 patch.

Thanks. I followed the guide and I have the header and footers transparent (I edited your pngs so that it was 0% opaque so perfectly transparent since that's what I want) but the background for the calendar widget still has a grey shade... dunno which png to change to get it perfectly clear. Any suggestions?

How would one go about editing a Beautiful Widget theme?
In the picture below you can see that the "pm" and weather are white and I want to make them both cyan to match everything else. (Also, I realized upon seeing the shot blown up that the color of the weather/date text didn't match so I fixed that).

Get the clock skin and the weather skin from your sdcard from data/beautifulwidgets. Edit them in Photoshop or GIMP and put them back.

Thanks Sonny! I am going to try (emphasis on try) to make a complete skin for BW to go with your SubCyan theme with just a simple clock and weather both cyan but if I fail (which seems to be what I'm doing) I'll probably do just that.
I have found many topics on Icons, but none that expalin how to prevent to auto-create icons resized and with background in customized_icons_1
I know that I can extract the original icon from an app and overwrite the image in the dir customized_icons_1, but I would like to avoid doing so for each app.
I whould like to prevent MIUI generating resized app icon instead of original icon.
Can anyone would help me doing so?
Thank you in advance for your kind reply.
Not sure about MIUI's inner workings but, the Dark White theme seems to have no background image. You could just apply its icons.
Thanks deejaylobo
I am looking to be able to modify the rules how MIUI generate 3rd party icons to put in customized_icons_1icon directory, however.
The dark white seems to work but it still decide to use some icons instead of others.
I'll try to explore how it's made...
Thanks in any case
Partially solved
I've partially solved the background problem.
I've overwritten the file icon_background.png inside the archive data/system/theme/icons and pushed back to phone.
Than I've wiped the customized_icons_1 folder.
Reboot.
Now the icons are really wonderfull.
I still didn't find a way to avoid the slight resize of the icon MIUI generate inside customized_icons_1, But with the semitrasparent new background + border seems to look very good.
In any case, if somebody knows how to avoid the risezeing ? would appeciate to know ...
See you.
Try to install android 2.3 icon theme, and icons in MIUI Launcher should look normal.

Hi all,
I'm really not a fan of the stock Tron-Like status bar and am thinking about changing it. I have looked into it and can prob figure out how to do everything bar the clock. Would it be possible for someone to walk me through this, or even better provide a CWM flashable zip to change from Stock Xoom to Stock Galaxy Tab?
I'm currently running stock UK 3.1 as i haven't seen a need to Root up until now. I would prefer to stay on the UK 3.1 also, as although i have tried Hammerhead and Morray, i dislike the soundset for the lock-screen and keyboard. (mainly the KB is far too quiet!)
Many Thanks in Advance!
Dex
it wouldn't be hard to change but it would require a rom that has the images you want and we could only change images.
I'm searching for the images now! Its weird, all the images on the Web show the Galaxy 10.1 as having different icons, but every rom i download has Stock HC ones...

For some odd reason everyone likes the stock ones. I don't on my build of mantaray i have the icons and clock font changed. You'll probably have to find a stock rom to get images.
I'll keep looking, in the mean time, i have worked out how to change the font of the clock - do you have any clue on how to change the colour?
Thanks
Just outta curiosity how did u change the font for the clock? I have font changer but I just want to change the clock font

Hi Everyone,
I've been modding my install of Moray for the last couple days - changing images and backgrounds, trying to remove as much of the blue blur as I can. I've used some images from a tab 10.1 rom I downloaded. I've been pretty successful at this so far.
I've also changed the stock clock, but once I replace the font files, the clock on the lockscreen has a lot of extra space between it and the date, as well a very little bit of the left side is cut off. Any suggestions as to how this can be solved?
Snapshots are below of before & after.

I noticed the font not quite fitting on the lock screen too, so for now i've gone back to stock font for that.
I've used the Galaxy Tab icons and given them the same colour as the Wifi and Battery icons, then used the DroidSans font for the clock and used the same colour there too.
Here is a screen, its simple but far preferable.

How did you change the status bar font, and leave the lockscreen font as stock? Which of the three stock files did you modify?
Also, how did you change the colour of the clock in the status bar? I assumed this was possible with xml files, buti haven't adventured into this area yet.

The status bar clock colour can be changed in SystemUI.apk/res/layout-xlarge/status-bar-notification-area.xml, under the entry "holoclock"
I changed only the AndroidClock-Solid.ttf for the font, the other 2 fonts combine to make the lock screen and notification pop-up font.
All is explained really well on the XML editing here on method 2 in post 3.
Hope This Helps
I would like to change the status bar too!
Here are the pngs for
Wifi
Battery
And toggles (bottom left)
You can edit them how you like and place the in the right apks
(systemui or framework.res)
inside the zip tells you where i got them from
Hope it helps!

Looks fine IMO, I recently found out tickboxes are completely white when there are dark backgrounds because of the white theme accent combined with the white tick. So that's why Sony doesn't make white theme accents.

For flip settings, you need that SystemUI.apk, and the blue accents have to remain in apps like settings because I don't think white will make it look nice so no plans for it. Sorry =)
Can you make apk only for nav. bar? Thanx.

read this, then to modify theme accent, you need to open /asset/com.sonyericsson.uxp.zip, decompile and go into the decompiled folder open /res/values/colors. Good luck, compare the colors with the stock purple accent by doing the same steps and check the color value, you can use photoshop to double check them. (It's not gonna be easy because if you use my theme as a base, you need to change some color of the switches and ticks.)

If you haven't already, I've got a patched services.jar in my thread, feel free to use. Also regarding conflicts, if you go into the smali folder of the base apk (with the wallpaper and icon) and get through to smali files, you can change the package name there by editing out craftsmanship, and putting what you want, changing the folder names to match. And in android manifest, you can change version number, so when you go to installed apps, it'll show what version is installed.
Example, in my theme folders go se/metallijim/brushed/blue, and that is what is in the smali files. Edit with notepad+
That'll definitely insure no conflicts.

In Android Manifest.xml in the main theme, before recompiling, just change android:versionName=1.0 to whatever version you want, then in settings, when installed it'll show the Version number! :victory:
