Make sure you haven't bent a pin on either the battery connector under the back cover or the USB one

Check the 3 metal pins where the battery sits make sure one of them isn't bent as its been known to give problems if they are
all fixed thanks for the help.....

So OK guys here's your time to shine! I put my bionic on the charger last night and when I wake up the white notification light is on and the phone won't power up. I've tried battery and sim pulls as well as plugging it in without the battery and trying to power it up. I can't even boot to recovery! Any help would be appreciated!

You can try the USB hack on it to get to boot up and pull information off if needed. Take a old USB cable that you don't plain on using any more. Strip down the micro USB connection side to expose the internal wires. Use just the red and black ones expose the wire and tend the leads with a soldering iron. Place the red side on the positive side of the battery and the black on negative side and carefully place the battery back into the phone. Plug the other side into the charger and it should jump start it.

Well, last night my NS4 was bricked... Running Rasbean + trinity 109 I was performing an antutu benchmark and the device just powered off. Could not get it back on and only shows the red led. Tried everything that was available on the net (fastboot, flash stock images, 312321 button combinations etc.). I'm going to set up an RMA and already spoke to a Google rep. Since I ordered through a friend in the UK the RMA must ship there. Won't be a problem. Time to relock the bootloader and send that brick away
Congrats.
Btw. most people fixed it with just leaving it charging for a while and then rebooting.

Damn, thats a shame.
Wasn't a solution available a few weeks ago, when someone posted a video of releasing the battery a bit and the red light disappeared and the phone started working again.
U can try to open the phone up and disconnect the battery then reconnect it. This is how some people got theirs to work again.

How were you able to flash the stock images? Was fastboot working and I just misunderstood your original post? Thanks!

Was trying to do that, but the back is more difficult to open as stated in a few posts. Trust me, I went to a music store to get guitar picks and the special screwdrivers I'm just not taking a rist damaging the phone trying to yank of the back (although I was trying the whole day!)

Fastboot was working. I had to hold down volume - and put in my usb cable.
I've read about this in blurts here and there.. What exactly sets off this "red light of death" ?

If the bootloader is operational, can it really be considered a brick?

Was trying to, but I reconsidered after reading some more. There are not many users risking to open the back. And one guy did it, and fixed his problem, but it came back after a week or so.

If it won't boot after trying almost everything I guess so! I can only flash things with fastboot. Booting won't work..
if fastboot works, it should be fine... system/data/boot/recovery are all flashable. fastboot boot recovery.img and reflash rasbean? after you flash stock images it just hangs at the google screen? i doubt it's bricked

This exact same thing happened to me. I was on CodefireX with franco.Kernel and I was running an Antutu benchmark and it just powered off to a red blinking LED.
I too tried everything but I couldn't get it into recovery or fastboot.
I ended up just sending it back to T-Mobile (one year warranty) without locking the bootloader again for a replacement.
I'll never run a benchmark again.

I know, the problem is that I just can't get between the layers. I use a very "sharp" guitar pick. I managed to get one side half loose (at sim side) but I just can't open the other side..
Hello
My dads Droid 4 is rooted running JB. I have safe strap installed. One day he took the phone out of his pocket and the screen was off. He gave me the phone to work on but I still cannot get it to boot. It turns on when the wall charger is plugged into it but comes up with either 5%-100% battery or a question mark within a battery. I can sometimes get it to boot into safe strap but that's it. I was wondering if anybody has any insight of what is wrong or knows how they can help me fix this issue. Thanks for reading!!
Sorry but looks like you'll need to do this the painful way

You'll have to SBF back to stock JB. I think you have the same problem my old LG Ally had. It's a random softbrick, unless I'm wrong. The cure is to SBF back to stock JB using a Windows machine.

Ah I see, I suppose you'll need a Motorola factory cable attachment from Team Black Hat. I made a factory cable myself with the aid of a friend who knew how to solder, but it was a little unnerving - if we messed up, would have fried the phone and computer. Anyway, get the attachment, and it should charge fine from the compute, plus you'll be able to SBF.

Thanks for the recommendation, but one point that I need to clarify is that the TBH Factory Adapter or cable will not charge the device at all.
It bypasses the battery and charging circuit altogether and powers the device directly from the USB.
This is an important distinction to make and it means that the device will always power on and boot no matter what, with or without a battery, and allow you to flash it with RSD Lite or fastboot or manually fix whatever problem was preventing it from booting and charging normally.
Then, once fixed, it will be able to boot and charge properly.
It will never charge when the factory cable/adapter is attached and for non removable battery devices like the D4 it will actually immediately power off the device when the USB cable is disconnected.
Good luck with your phone and congrats on fixing it yourself.
We think the adapters are a much safer and inexpensive solution for most users and believe everyone who mods their Motorola device should have one...before the need arises to actually use it!
So I made a cable and sbf the phone...still comes up with the battery with the X in the middle... Guessing its the battery that's bad? Not too sure

Ok so my usb port broke off so I was using a razr well my daughter broke that by throwing it... so with no phone I grabbed my D4 I pulled the battery charged it to like 3% put the battery back in and powered it up... I made a Frankenstein cable that will charge it via the inductive charging pins... came back a few hours later to see it was charged... so there's the back story... now my issue it will not recognize the sim card says no service no sim card... so I switch back to stock (i was on avatar) same on stock no service no sim... but the stock reboots like every 2-20 mins never the same time frame... avatar it'll go all day with out a reboot... I get my new phone in 2 days but I go back to work tomorrow and need a phone... I have fr the stock ROM, put the sim in a different phone it does work... Put a different sim in mine it did not.... On avatar I Swapped sims, fr full wipe and reflash ROM fixed permissions... I am really at a lose here... I thank you kindly for any in put..
