[Q][custom rom] i don't want to lose my data - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

guys! everytime i update my custom rom i lose my data [application not messages] plzzzz helpppp
and if i want to go from custom to stock rom how to i do it ?? is like normally using odin ????
and one last question when will the andriod 4.2..2 come for s3 mini ?????

Use Titanium backup for aplications. After flashing you need to restore them to new rom.
You can read here about going back to stock rom. It is not for your phone but it is a procedure.

Then i downloaded FroyoBread v023 Final, entered xrecovery and installed it. After the instillation was finished i choose to reboot. Now it shows the android logo and it is stuck there for at least 20 minutes. How much time should i wait?
Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you want to do with your phone, if you are fine with running stock rom, don't change it as there is no need for it.
CWM is useful when you use custom roms (both for the flash process/wipes and backups/restore), stock recovery is useful for nothing at all in that case.
So, IOW, if you don't intend on using custom roms, stick with stock recovery, if you intend on using custom roms, get CWM.
Clockwork mod recovery lets you do things like wipe factory data reset, wipe cache, battery status etc.... and can also install roms from zip files. Stock recovery can't do that. Hope I helped Also clockwork mod only works if you are rooted first I belive.
Does this mean i need to use custom rom to get cmw? Can i use cmw in stock? I dont want to flash any custom rom yet but i need cmw to flash theme? Lol

You can flash CWM and use stock but i have no idea why you would, you can't use backup or restore and you'll have no use for it what so ever.
You never need to flash a theme, you install it via market or downloaded .apk, if it's a custom theme you need a theme manager and you'll download and install themes via that manager.
You do NOT need CWM for anything you are trying to do.

You can use cwm on stock.
However, the great function isn't working on stock.
It means, even if you use cwm on stock, it has no difference with original (stock) recovery.
CMIIW
If you are going to use CWM anyway, might as well use custom rom...

Faster than stock...

Hi! I have a question. I have the last cmw touch but i cannot do a nandroid backup of the stock rom (2.3.4) because it can't mount system and cache. It's really not possible to make a backup of the stock rom? I'm asking this because i did some modifications like removing preinstalled apps and things like this and a new flash of the rom is not the same for me...

Do a clean install... go to cwm, wipe data and cache, format system from "mounts and storage", wipe dalvik cache in "advanced", install rom, wipe data and cache again, and reboot.
okay. I'll do it. I need a rooted phone? Or a specific base rom?
Sent from my GT-S5570 using XDA App
You had gingerbread before flashing anything, right?
Yeah. When i'd buy my phone. Now i'm using MIUI ics but i'll to use cm9 cuz cm9 is root
Sent from my GT-S5570 using XDA App

Édit : i'd try with ur advice but that doens't work. I'll try with the stockrom. I've sait 5 minutes then ive pull out the battery and try again. What is the necesarry to flash the rom?
Tbh, I have absolutely no idea what might be cause of your problem... I personally never had such problems, when something didn't work I was just doing clean install and that was it, I was changing roms like my underwear
Why i'm the only one who got some troubles? I'il go back to my stock rom gingerbread 2.3.6 and try again nobody could help me? Maybe i need to wait more time to let my phone boot.

It acts as a safeguard against bootloops after flashing custom roms.... and in most of it it's written....

almost of the time wiping is needed after installation (specifically for sgm)

problem booting

hello all i flashed jb xxlsc on my gnote rooted and having cwm
after intsalling apps from app backup when i flash anything on it like playstation certificates or xperiia launcher for our device it just freezes at galaxy note bootup splash screen it never gets boot till i factory reset my phone i tried differnt rom like ultimate rom latest and firmware zslm5 all have same problem i am using philz kernel latest. plzz help i wasnt having this problem on ics . plzz help this is a request
i got this problems wif xxlsc too....
i think u need to do it all over it again by not restoring any backup data as most of the custom rom might not tally wif ur previous rom.
cuz different romers have differents deodex system. check it out or someone will give u the right answer !
so far i'm not getting any bootloop when battery is flatt or during screen on pulled out battery n it's startup normally
just like official rom does !
What data are you restoring? Restoring system apps can cause boot loops or force closes.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Just manually paste the apk's which are needed to be in system otherwise try installing them normally don't use titanium for restoring system apps.. Just a advice
